I just joined the board after seeing my ultrasound today and finding out I'm having twins. I will be 43 at the time of birth and a FTM, so I'm excited but also freaking out a bit! My husband and I have been trying for several years and this was our first IVF procedure. They implanted 2, so we knew it was a possibility but it was still shocking to see them both. I'm glad I will have a forum to help us get ready for our twins!
I have 16 month old identical twins and now I'm due on their second birthday... My first ultrasound was at 5 and a half weeks so all they could see was the sack. I'll go back to find out in a couple of weeks how many babies are I'm there this time. Twins are absolutely amazing and I would love to have another set. It is so incredible to watch them together. When they were first born one was crying and the other reached over to touch her sister and comfort her and they still have an amazing relationship to watch at this age.
@sarahelrod10 Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I ovulated 2-3 eggs from fertility drugs so pretty sure mine are fraternal but I had no idea identical twins could have 2 sacs.
@sardavbak totally lurking here but I just wanted to say that I'm in FC & delivered at the hospital I think you're referring to.
My daughter was born a month early but was in the best hands. Their NICU team is one of a kind. To this day, I can't get over how amazing they were. I totally appreciated the private rooms for the babies too.
I packed for a lot of things I really didn't need because the facility came fully equipped (& we get our own private bathrooms). It was an awesome experience so rest assured, I think you've made the right choice!
@AliKay20 the one where the new building opened within the last year or so??
As annoying as it will be to have to drive a little further (I'm in western pw county, OB is in chantilly), I know the peace of mind from delivering at that facility will be worth it!!
@sardavbak yep! Brand spankin' new. We were living out in DC at the time but I see IMG OBGYN in Arlington so I delivered at the new facility. It wasn't too bad of a drive either but my water also broke at night after our crazy rush hour traffic.
One "bad" thing would be that I wasn't a fan of their breakfast but you have plenty of options in that area (Mosaic!!!).
Couple of questions - did anyone's doctor tell them to up their folic acid intake? I didn't think to ask this at my appointment this week (uh, was in shock!) and now it's the weekend. I now that folic acid is the most important in the early weeks of pregnancy.
Also, has anyone found a support group/message board for multiples that is active? I noticed the one on TB is not very active.

very grateful for this subgroup too. I think we'll all freak out less if we can freak out together

@Gingham Congrats! Hang in there & keep us posted! I've had 3 wonderful sets of triplets in my classes over the last five years.

ETA: Last sentence. TB cut me off.

I found an active local MoM group on Facebook. Have you tried locally?
