Highlights in Hair

What do you all think? Safe after first trimester?

Yes or No?

Re: Highlights in Hair

The Mayo Clinic book I read said there is no evidence that the trace amount of dye that would get into your system would have any effect on a baby.  But it's certainly up to personal discretion.
  • Highlights are totally fine in first tri. The debate is over color which sits on your scalp (highlights don't). But even then most say it's fine.

Got highlights two days ago. There's nothing to worry about.
  • Did highlights last week.

Idk how that happened?! I meant to put....

Yay!!  Great news!! I am a hot mess and majorly in need of some highlights!
  • Hope its ok if I detail the thread instead of posting a new one....but since we're talking about hair...What about getting hair straightened in first trimester??
  • @barrelocarol if you mean like a Brazilian blowout or something like that I'd definitely check...I believe I've heard that's not a good idea but I'm not sure!!

  • @BWhitta Was thinking the same thing! I keep hearing to essentially do nothing in the first trimester but was wondering if anyone had straightened their hair.

With my first, my beautiful pregnancy hair kicked in immediately. This time, I'm walking around with a cobbled bird's nest up there...
  • In my opinion it's safe. I had my hair highlighted every 5 weeks during both of my pregnancies.
