@Tennis11785 Sure!  Her shop also has the "You serious, Clark?" outfit!

I really liked this one too.  It's like the fancy dress headband of Christmas headbands

My UO is that I haaaaate dresses. (For me. You do you. They're cute on other people, hideous on me.)  If I wear a dress to your social function, it's a statement about just how much I love and adore you.

My sister keeps sending me "cute" maternity dress links.  I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I kind of second this, but I know a lot of people use them for newborn photos. We put DD in a romper because it was blazing hot when she was born.

UO: I understand that there will always be THOSE moms who follow the AAP exactly as they suggest, but honestly, I'm SOOOOO tired of getting this information shoved down My throat by other moms. It really upsets me when they try to turn me into "The Worlds Worst Mom" because I chose to use mesh bumpers or I let my 13 month old sleep with a small blanket and a small stuffed animal. We all sleep better because she has these items within reach (for comfort. It's a security thing already), and because she's not getting her legs stuck in the slats of her crib. I guess my point is, while I understand the risks, it's not someone else's place to tell me my child is going to die because of it.

  • @kyrwyn I'm normally a pants/shorts girl myself, and only wear dresses occasionally in the summer when it's super hot or for special occasions. But this growing bump haaates pants, even maternity.. so I haven't worn pants in a month. :s  It's so weird!

  • @whiska DH hates little headbands and bows on baby/toddler girls. He thinks they look weird and uncomfortable. It's so strange to me that this bothers him so much since he so rarely has negative stuff to say about things.

AFM, I'm not crazy about the cutesy sayings on baby clothes ("auntie loves me," "strong like daddy," etc.) and kind of mentioned this already to my sister and best friend who I know are going to go shopping crazy. Prints, florals, and character stuff is fine, I just don't love the little phrases and stuff.

Haha, I look like an absolutely goblin in most dresses, something about my body shape just..... looks terrible. This morning I started going through my closet and ended up putting almost every single past "maybe this will look good on me someday" dress purchase in the giveaway pile. I have a wedding to go to in September and I'm sort of dreading picking out a dress for it, but I love my BFF so I'll be strong for her.

ironically, the AAP is concerned with SIDS until one year of age. at 13 months they have no problem with bedding in the crib. FFTC, i gave in and had a lovey for my LO by 6 months and a light blanket not too long thereafter, one of the muslin ones. waiting til a year is really difficult. i'm sure we all want our children to be safe and certainly take "safe sleep" guidelines seriously but we can also make decisions for ourselves about what risk to accept.

i'm totally with you though. not to mention there are ways to express concern without being sanctimommy, and it also depends on  your relationship with a given person.

  • @disneyfan0511 we did buy a coming home outfit for Dd, but it was a onesie/pants set from carter's. She wore it several times. We'll buy something for this LO, too, but it won't be a one-time wear or super fancy, just something we like to be his/her first outfit.

  • @peachy13 I totally agree with all the sayings on baby clothes. My daughter does t need a shirt that says "mommy loves me" or "too cute". I made it pretty clear to my mom and mother in law that we didn't love clothing with words on it and they were great about picking other stuff out when they were shopping for dd.

I can never ever think of my own uo. I always identify with a lot of others though!

  • As long as the clothes don't say "watch out ladies" or "my dad owns a shotgun" or something, I don't care if there's writing on baby clothes. They just poop through them anyway.
  • @disneyfan0511 I'm with you on that. Most of DD's clothes come from the clearance rack at Target, the outlet mall, or consignment sales. She doesn't have anything that costs $50, let alone a one-time wear outfit (unless she received one as a gift)

  • @blueskies17 YES! I hate tutus on newborns in general, it's just mean. There is no way that is comfortable on their gentle, sensitive skin!

I'm really against piercing a baby's ears.  I think it's really strange to want to do that to an infant...and I don't think it looks cute.

Edited to add...I know this is common practice in many Latin American countries, I am talking more about people who choose to do this outside of cultural reasons.

  • I can't stand Will Ferrell. Like, I don't think he's funny. AT. ALL. I have a really good girlfriend who thinks he's the most entertaining person on the planet. She's asked me to go see his new movie with her and I'm like, "I love you, but I dislike him so much, I'm going to turn down an evening with you. Sorry dude."

  • UO:: I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with piercing ears. All 3 of my girls had them done as infants. I really DGAF what people thought about it. They never had any problems at all with the way they healed, and now as they get older I let them choose when or if they want to wear them. My oldest wears them occasionally when she feels like it, my middle child doesn't wear them at all. And my youngest wears them all the time still, and I'm sure she'll have her own opinion on them as she gets older.
I was flamed pretty hard for it on my last BMB and it was often compared to by those sanctimommies as being the equivalent of a circumcision LOL. Yes, because genital mutilation that requires surgery is the SAME thing as a poke in your ear lobe....Seriously, shots hurt worse than an ear piercing.

@ameliabedelia-2 I so agree with you! I get really heated about this. Especially when it's the same parents that are adamantly opposing circumcision for their son, but they will pierce their daughters ears because, ya know, girls gotta learn sometimes it's painful to be pretty!

P.S. I don't oppose circumcision. Just wanted to make that clear

  • I like buying Carter's sets that come with the pants, short sleeve onesie, and long sleeve onesie. But I hate that one of the onesies always has a terrible saying on it. So corny. I'll still continue to buy them and put this LO in them because of the price and sales but it irritates me.

Ear piercing- I had DD's ears pierced as an infant. I probably won't do it this time around because my daughter no longer wears earrings so it was kind of pointless. If this LO wants to get them pierced someday we'll just do it that way. But who knows, maybe I'll eat my words and end up doing it anyway. I respect the opinion of people who are against it, but it's just never bugged me.

If you spend $50 on a coming home outfit..... I'm jealous of you and wish I had your income. I didn't even know this was a thing lol. My kids have worn plain onesies and pants home. And then were changed right away due to meconium haha.

My UO: I hate TV series. I get too impatient and can't handle all the cliff hangers. I've tried to watch so many series but end up googling the synopsis to see what happens.

@eazybreezy225 haha I didn't read your comment until now. Umm.. Yeah. Sorry. I guess my view is that circumcision and shots both have medical benefits. Anti circumcision people may say otherwise, but I chose to have my son circumsized because of my nephew. After suffering from infection after infection his entire childhood, my nephew finally got circumsized at the age of 19 and it was very traumatic, but to him it was worth it to be done with the infections. Some people chose circumcision based purely on how they want their son's penis to look, and I find that just as wierd as peirced ears on an infant.

  • @tamaraaaa Oh my god yes! I've never seen a child in person wearing it or anyone in my FB feed selling it, but I've seen it on bloggers' kids and I really don't get ruffled pants under a dress. Why pants and a dress? And why 79 different prints?

  • I have like 5 friends that are suddenly "trunk keepers" online and keep adding me over and over again.  The kids look ridiculous.  Absolutely stupid.  I am very particular about how I dress my kid, and it's the opposite of ruffle crap everywhere...  I probably singlehandedly keep my local Janie and Jack in business.

  • @tamaraaaa I just googled Matilda Jane because I'd never even heard of the brand. I thought a couple of the dresses were cute, but yeah... the ruffled pants make them look like clown clothes!

@tamaraaaa To me it just looks like my mom's old ass sewing patterns from the 80s when everyone decided Little House on the Prairie needed to become a fashion movement.  Personally I thought we as a culture had tiptoed back away from that and pretend it never happened.  I swear my mom had a pattern with those awful bell-bottom tiered ruffles but I can't find a pic!

  • I don't know if they have it there, but here it's Peakaboo Beans clothing... Everyone RAVES about it... and it's... fine looking... I guess. But at like $30-60 PER PIECE OF CLOTHING I am like... fuck that. Regardless of how durable it is, my kid needs new clothes every 3-6 months just cause of how fast he grows. He's not going to wear it long enough to wear out even the cheapest stuff! I can barely handle spending more than $10 on any one item...

UO: I hate iPhones/Galaxy or any other over priced hyped up smart phone. I've had them all, and they really all work the same, but with different buttons!! Society is the only thing that tells us we HAVE to have these phones. Give me a cheap smart phone that has a touch screen, and it works just fine for cruising the internet. I get it if you need a "fancy" phone for your job though. It just makes me mad society thinks we need Apple everything or Samsung everything!! Give me what's cheap and practical!!!
