I don't know if this is any good, but it's been annoying me lately.
I can't stand all those online "open letters" or FB posts in response to IRL incidents. I think those situations need to be addressed immediately. I think waiting to post it and complain online, is cowardly and more about seeking attention.
@lrwardrop I've seen that trampoline post as well, but I am referring to several posts regarding "shaming" (which I think is overused). I have read so many articles/posts about someone being shamed in a department store etc.. And then the author goes on to defend themselves or stand up to the "shamer/bully" online by writing an open letter to them. I can't believe I can't think of a specific example because it seems like the pop up and go viral all the time. I bet 2 days or a month from now I will randomly remember an example.
I'm going to add to the thoughts on open letters. I think even the nice and non-complaining letters are annoying sometimes. I always see the open letter to an ex's new girlfriend thanking her for loving the author's daughter. It's sweet and healthy to have this kind of relationship, but I feel like it could just be a letter to her. Making an open letter seems to say, "Look how big of a person I am. I'm so great for being ok with my daughter's stepmom."

I think in some situations the "open letter" posts can be entertaining, but typically the ones I find entertaining are meant to be humorous.
I'm still trying to think of a UO, so I'll be back
