Mole removal

I have an appt to get a mole removed. Has anyone else had this done while pregnant? Or is it not safe to have the shots the numb the area done? Just curious.. I do plan on asking the doc.  I didn't realize I was pregnant when I made this appt!

Re: Mole removal

  • I would ask exactly what method and medicine is used, then double check with your OB to make sure it's safe. You may also need to put off the appointment until the second trimester. Sometimes those things are a little safer at that point.

  • Call and let them know you're pregnant and the dr can let you know if you should reschedule. It might be fine if they only use topical numbing that doesn't go into your bloodstream.

  • I got one removed when I was breastfeeding. They shot some numbing stuff in my forehead and took it off. I don't know about pregnancy though. You can call and ask the office and your OB nurse line.
  • I had one removed (pretty deep, so several numbing shots) while I was 7 months pregnant. I would call just to confirm it isn't an issue.
  • Local anesthesia is usually fine, but I would double check to be sure. In my experience, they'll likely require a release from your OB if they know you're pregnant anyway.
