Progesterone supplement

I'm taking progesterone suppositories until the pregnancy takes over production. I think I remember my dr saying until ten weeks? For those taking it how long are you taking it? I'm thankful to have it but I'll be so happy to stop! I'll do what my dr says of course I just wondered what others have been told.

I'm taking it to 12 weeks
  • Options
Last pregnancy, I took it 12-14 weeks? I am 7 weeks now and I have not discussed when I would stop.  Through first Tri is typical.

The nurse said between 10-12 weeks I'd stop taking them but I think they will be rechecking my levels at my next appointment.

I'm doing progesterone in oil shots until 10 weeks. I hate them and they hurt, but I will suck it up! :)

@lolapop2005 What about going to 10 weeks makes you nervous? I've be more nervous if they had you stop them early and your body wasn't ready to take over 100%. My doc this morning said the body usually takes over around 7-8 weeks, but they keep going until 10 just to make sure.

@eggplantface I mean stopping at ten weeks and not going further. I had a loss just shy of nine weeks and I always figured it was due to low progesterone.

Hello, I am also taking them until around 10 weeks, I'll be glad when I'm done with them. TMI, but they really interfere with the intimacy factor.

My RE is conservative so I'll take supplements until the end of first tri.

My progesterone was 17... seemed low to me but my doctor was ok with it.  What were your progesterone #'s to be put on supplements?
  • Options
@neener*neener* Mine this time around was only 6.8 at 5 weeks, which was extremely low, but it shot up to 24 after just 2 doses of the progesterone so that was a relief. With my son I think I started out around 22 at about 4 weeks, though they had me on progesterone from 4dpo that time since we were very intently trying after 4 consecutive losses. Historically my progesterone has been in the single digits or teens every time without supplements, both in successful and unsuccessful pregnancies, but has responded very well to supplements which is why my doc will probably always put me on them to be safe.

My progesterone at approx. 25 dpo was 6.1.  I started progesterone the next day and it was 10.2 the day after that.  I have been taking it ever since.  My doctor said she would keep me on it until at least 14 weeks.

I am scheduled to take it until 14 weeks with lose dose aspirin until 20 weeks.

Met with my doctor today for my 9 week appointment and she said to stop taking it at 11 weeks. I was like, do I need to come in? She said nope just stop taking it. Eeek!

I'll also go to a baby aspirin around that time to avoid pre-eclampsia. I had it at the very end with my DD and then went into early labor and delivered at 37 weeks. After she was born I was rehospitalized for the pre-eclampsia and had to do and 24 hour magnesium trestment. The hope is to not have it all all and avoid the magnesium. Ugh!

I just saw my obgyn today, she said to stop the progesterone when I finish my current bottle, which will be around week 10-11. Will be glad to be done with it!

Just stopped yesterday at 12 weeks. My level was 12/13 at about 5 weeks. Doctor thought it was ok, but gave me option of taking progesterone, which I did.
