  • And, what I do is I rub my index finger and thumb and see how it feels as I create that friction. If it keeps feeling slippery, just like a personal lubricant would, that is Watery/lubricative. If it gets dryer as I do that, it is creamy/non-lubricative.
Nice! I had read the FF descriptors (admittedly a long time ago) but it talked about pulling your fingers apart. I will try rubbing them together and see if that works better for me. Thank you!

@zamora_spin thanks, I'll have to try that next cycle if need be :)  I do usually *get a sample* instead of relying on what's on the TP and the more I check the more I understand/differentiate.  Although, what are your thoughts on the "creamy yet stretchy" type CM?

@kangaroo85 I'd post your chart on the chart stalk thread.  You have a lot of conflicting data, and the temps definitely add to the confusion lol.  Some of the other ladies may know more regarding the ferning, and which is a more accurate test, OPK vs microscope.  Like what @zamora_spin said, I don't believe O was CD14, but aside from that, I'm at a loss.  But again, post it to the chart stalk thread, I'd love to see what the other ladies think/learn more :)

@kangaroo85 -Lurking for WTO, but people say my hubby looks like the Brawny man too when he has a beard!

@zamora_spin. tell me more about YH's painting party? It sounds cool! What kind of art did you make?
  • @zamora_spin super helpful descriptions, thanks! I'm going to try to track that better next cycle!
  • @dukestar5 MH has a lot of nerdy hobbies, and one of them involves painting models. So he has tons of paints and brushes on hand and what we did was buy a bunch of canvases (16x20s, and then one big one as the communal painting) and people did their own thing. Some folks did really amazing free hand work (like, one guest made a painting of one of our dogs and it really does look like him), others followed something they'd found online, others used a more modern approach. No rules, just have fun with it. People came up with really neat stuff.

@lurvleybunchococonuts Hmm, creamy yet stretchy. I think I may have experienced this post-O before (but I'm not totally sure) and my recollection is that that type is stretchy somewhat but will break apart much more easily than EWCM and feels less slippery, so, not fertile.
  • Month/cycle:  4/3

    CD/DPO: 28/5

    Timing: -3, -2, -1

    Typical LP Length:

    Testing: 10 more days.

R/R: rave - for the last 2 cycle AF has shown up exactly 1 week after a +opk. No sign of her yet so I'm already more hopeful than the last 3 months.
Rant - I am crazy exhausted and I have a horrible headache. Not exactly conducive to being productive.

    CS/Q:

GTKY: What celeb looks most like YH? I don't think he really looks like anyone. At first glance he gets mistaken for Hawaiian a lot but he's Dominican and Salvadorian. According to a look a like app though he looks like Cuba Gooding Jr.

  • @JennyColada do you usually ovulate around CD13? Can you HIO today/tomorrow just in case?

@mschanandlerbong1214 - Positive vibes! that's great that AF is staying away!
  • @isnthatspeshul I don't really have a "usual" yet since I've just been charting 1 cycle, but last cycle I O'd CD15 and the one before I think I did on CD17 (based on CM). I think I will try to HIO just in case. The annoying thing is that I THOUGHT I would O today and when all signs pointed to O on CD13 I was caught off guard.
  • @zamora_spin - yes to everything except "positive on a ferning microscope on CD19." That was human error/fat finger, lol. I just removed it to see if that is what is triggering the O delay but FF is still trying to move my O from CD 14 to CD 22 when I input my temps from yesterday and today. I would agree with you that my O date was likely after CD 14 the day I got peak OPK using a LH test. But regardless of all the details, I'm just trying to figure out why FF is moving my O date so drastically. So confused!  Thanks for your feedback, I love having a second set of eyes on this!
  • I'm back from visiting my grandma.  Trip went well and I got to see my aunt and cousins too.

@LazyCrane  How did your appt go?

@JennyColada To me it is weird that you dropped below the coverline so soon after O (and have EWCM), so it could be possible that the first was just a fake out.  I'd HIO tonight just in case though. ;)

@mschanandlerbong1214 One week after +opk.  That is a crazy short LP if you are Oing a 24-36 after the +opk.  Hopefully your cycles are figuring themselves out after (I think) your mirena was taken out.  FX for you!

    @zamora_spin Awesome CM descriptions!

@AlyshaRoseh @eliz2791 Sorry for the BFNs.  FX it is just too early.

@kangaroo85 I think I may agree about CD17 for O.  FF is probably having a tough time because you started mid cycle so it can't figure out your coverline.  But the Chart Stalk thread may yield better answers.

@jennycolada why did you have open circles for O & post O temps, were they time differences? Just wondering if that caused higher than norm temps so it's a false O for 7/6? Maybe ask the chart stalk thread their thoughts?
ETA: either way I suggest hio tonight :)

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts, yea, I have a pretty wonky sleep schedule and often wake up anywhere between 4-7am.
  • edited July 2017
@JennyColada ah gotcha, I have a weird sleep schedule too (wake up a lot) but thankfully I can fall back asleep pretty easy. So I have an alarm set for 3:30 (usually will have a minimum of 3hours sleep by then) take my temp, record it, and go back to sleep until 4:00-5:00 when get up for work. Otherwise depending on the day/week I may have to be up earlier or later than that. I do that on the weekend too, but being able to fall asleep easily helps with that :)
TLDR, I hope you can figure out a consistent time/way to temp which I imagine would help with solid CH vs dotted and have less confusion?

  • @lurvleybunchococonuts I suck at falling back to sleep! If I'm up, I'm UP. My last cycle was totally fine with solid CH and stuff (and I feel like I actually got more open circles then!). I'm just being totally thrown off by the random EWCM because normally all fertile signs are pretty streamlined with me (but I know, "you're normal until you're not"). I guess I'll just see how it shakes out!
  • @JennyColada Yay for your interviews!! Good luck! How do you feel about the potential positions? And a massage at the end of all that is perfection.

  • antoto said:
you are only fertile -5 through O day.  Some people include +1 as timing but that's usually only if they aren't completely sure about their O day.  Any day after O is no longer your fertile week.

Also ETA here's a study that's a good read regarding timing:
    https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199512073332301#t=article
But if that's TLDR here's a pretty graph
    Figure

    I. Love. Graphs. Thanks for sharing! How weird that there would be a higher probability on -5 and -4 than on -3. I wonder why.

@cards10 I believe it is because sperm can live inside a woman for approximately 5 days. So if you have -5 timing the sperm are already waiting in the Fallopian tubes and have a greater chance of meeting the egg. A really good video to watch is The Great Sperm Race. You can find it on you tube and it is something your H might even want to watch too. Mine found it really informative!

ETA: sorry I read that wrong. I'm not sure why -3 would have that dip?! Interesting.

I second the recommendation for The Great Sperm Race. It is actually pretty epic. I found myself rooting for the little swimmers/ human runners like "you can do it, get in there"

  • @becausescience, they did a progesterone test that I'll get the results of tomorrow. RE thinks I probably ovulated Tuesday. She said we could do an ultrasound if I want but that the blood test would be more conclusive and less expensive.

I would assume the difference is largely just due to a smallerish sample size.  I'm sure if you had a much larger sample size you would see -5,-4,-3 closer to the same, but -2,-1,0 still better.
  • @antoto Thank you! I am still learning, the whole charting thing so I write everything down, no joke, everything! haha. So I've gotten myself into a habit of noting everything. tee hee.
