2) any appointments this week? Yes, biweekly appt on Fri

3) how are you feeling? Any raves, concerns, or gripes. The usual heartburn, feeling huge, and I think I'm developing a bit of melasma. 

4) what are you looking forward to? Maternity leave. Last work day is aug 22, assuming I make it that far (didn't make it that long with baby #2)

Morning!!

1) how far along are you? 28 Weeks 5 days

2) any appointments this week? Dietitian for my GD and Lactation Consultation (anything I should be asking her?) 

I need to get my next Dr appointment scheduled to talk about more delivery stuff as we are getting closer and closer.

3) how are you feeling? Pretty good other than being tired. I am really really starting to feel big pregnant and that has been making sleeping at night a bit more complicated. Will be curious to see what the Dietitian says about my GD readings and what that means next. 

4) what are you looking forward to? um...an easy and pain free (haha) birth experience and a happy and healthy kiddo. And ice cream...um having the baby on the outside...etc.   Enjoying more summer...possibly a anniversary get away with the hubby. Vacation maybe this wither with my family. 

5) gtky: who was/is your role model and why? Probably my mom. She is complicated and difficult in her own right but she is also super strong, resilient, passionate, has so much energy, an amazing cook, does so much for others, has made huge differences in peoples lives, she is always ready to take on a challenge, has created a kind of empire, and has provided a ton of opportunity for me as well as others....

2) any appointments this week? Friday I meet with my doctor to go over my blood sugar. I pick up my glucometer today and start taking my blood sugars 4 times a day. 

3) how are you feeling? Any raves, concerns, or gripes. Ok but anxious. Nervous birth is far away nervous it is so soon. Worried something 

4) what are you looking forward to? I can wait for her to be here. 

5) gtky: who was/is your role model and why? My mom was my role model. She is a very caring and strong woman.

2) any appointments this week? no, next monday 

3) how are you feeling? Any raves, concerns, or gripes. I'm getting more comments from strangers. I don't go out much b/c it just takes everything out of me, but we go to church and run errands on saturday/sunday. I love when people ask when I'm due and follow up with "it's gotta be soon!" I'm hoping not too soon and to make it to at least 35 weeks. And definitely anytime after 37 weeks they are more than welcome to come!! My growth scan last week showed babies at 3 lbs 15oz and 4 lbs 1oz. I'm trying to eat more protein so they'll be a good size at birth, especially if they come early, and hopefully not need any NICU time.

4) what are you looking forward to? Of course I'm looking forward to the babies being here, but I know it will most likely be chaos for a while after they arrive. I'm looking forward to feeling like me again and having energy, but this is also my last pregnancy so as uncomfortable as I am, I'm trying to enjoy what time I have left being pregnant. 

5) gtky: who was/is your role model and why? I really admired and looked up to my grandfather growing up. He was the best ever. Funny, loving, faithful - I just thought he was perfect. I'd also say my mom. She's (and my dad) always been there for me. So many more reasons.

2) any appointments this week? Ultrasound and OB appt on Thursday

3) how are you feeling? Any raves, concerns, or gripes. Physically my only complaint is insomnia - it is so frustrating. Mentally I am having some challenges digesting/accepting the news I got at OB appt last week - that I will be induced at 37 weeks due to suspected placental abruption. I know that the most important thing is to keep baby and me safe and healthy, but at the same time I'm frustrated that the induction takes away so many of my choices related to the birth.

4) what are you looking forward to? Meeting the baby in less than 5 weeks! And no longer having activity restrictions once he is here!

5) gtky: who was/is your role model and why?
My role model was a former boss I had at a previous job. I always respected her and learned a lot from her that has helped me in my career.

Morning ladies! Have any of you had a ultrasound that mentioned baby size and predicted due date? If so how was your baby sized (1-100 percent)? Our last ultrasound seemed like she was on the due date track and the right weight but was on the smaller size for measurements. Which I found curious as I have GD and had gone into the US worried she might be growing big. 

Rhubarb7216 I am sure it has to be a new train of thought to know you will be delivering at 37 weeks...and gosh that is coming up so fast!! Anything you are going to make a point to do before baby arrives for fun or for preparing? 

daisy62103 Awesome size for twins!! So exciting! Will you be doing another growth scan? I am glad your trying to make the most of this pregnancy despite the exhaustion. 

Hopefulmommy1980 I hope your GD meeting with your dr goes well. I would say having GD so far hasn't been that bad. I have just cut out a lot of the un required carbs (like if having a burger I don't have fries or the bun and instead go with a chili as a side and get lots of yummy toppings on the burger) and pushing to eat more protein. I have even found that super thin crust pizza doesn't spite my sugar too bad neither does a mini blizzard from dq or a cup of custard from my favorite ice cream shop. Jules Strawberry Frozen Yogurt bars are my go to sweet treat. I have found the hardest number to control is my fasting one...you may want to talk to your dr about the best ways to help with that...such as a midnight carb or protein or combo snack. ALSO when pricking your finger try to stick to pinkies or sides of fingers as they have thinner skin so don't take as much of a poke to get blood and also don't hurt as much. Avoid pads of fingers etc. If your kit doesn't come with alcohol pads I recommend getting some to wipe before and after to just keep things clean. Also my kit didn't come with a "garbage" for carrying around your sharps and test strips after being used...I found a old make up container thing (small round circle with a removalable top that I use as a garbage when on the go. 

mamaofthegarden Nice that you know when your maternity leave kicks in. Do you have an induction date or just picked it due to your expected due date? I am pretty sure I will be working right up to birth unless we schedule an induction or the dr's decide I need to do a c-section or something. I hear ya about the heartburn and starting to feel really big. I feel like I must have extra popped in the last week or two.

@BecauseLove I get growth scans every 4 weeks and they tell me the percentile the babies are with their weights/measurements. At 28wks they were around 60th, and this last one I think they were more 50th if I remember right. My dr office doesn't change my due date. They've said they're lining up perfectly for the weeks pg I am. I have another scan scheduled for Aug 4 at 36 wks. Was your dr concerned that baby girl was measuring smaller? If her weight was on track I wouldn't worry. Are you getting another ultrasound in a few weeks to recheck?

daisy62103 That is nice that you have consistent growth scans. I don't think they have any further growth scans scheduled for me (but because I go through 2 dr's because of where I live I sometimes feel like its hard to know what there plan is later down the line). That is so awesome that with twins they are at to the 50th and 60th percentile! Yeah my Dr didn't seem concerned about the measuring smaller (I am only 5'2 and was only 5 pounds when born) but I think I will ask some follow up questions to them. So exciting that you get to see them in a few weeks again on the screen before they make there way to be outside babies.

@becauselove at my 28w u/s they mentioned a weight estimate but not a percentile. I figured they would have said something if it was a concern. 

As for knowing my maternity leave date, my midwife said she'd write me out of work at 37w. I was annoyed because (1) my work maternity leave policy would cover me starting at 36w, and (2) my water broke at 36w4d last pregnancy. 

I had PROM with both daughters (38w3d with first daughter) so I'm terrified of being at work near the end. Both times it happened on a Sunday night when I had been planning to go to work the next day.

That is odd that she wouldn't write you out sooner. I have limited leave so being out of work before kiddo arrives just takes from my post leave. Nice that you could get out early and keep the rest of your leave too. 

What weight was your baby at 28 weeks?

@BecauseLove my last growth scan was at 30w5d and they said the baby was estimated to be 3 lbs, 14 oz and 54th percentile. I was actually surprised to have a baby measuring above the 50th percentile, as I am 5'2" and my husband is 5'4" and I expected us to have a little baby. But I also know those estimates can be off by a good amount and it's better if he is a little bigger anyway given that we now know he'll be coming at 37 weeks or less.

So I just got word from my Dr. that they are going to start me doing biophysical profile ultrasound things every 2 weeks starting next week (which is exciting to see her so much but also so time consuming - also thank you for insurance and a non insane deductable...I live 2 + hours 1 way from the ultrasound place and delivery hospital so it is gonna be sucking up a lot of my last bits of summer to do the drive so often).  So that should be interesting...still waiting to hear if they decided if I should start insulin or not (my fasting rates for my GD haven't been staying below the required level over half the time).

@BecauseLove as of last week I have to do weekly biophysical profiles. Fortunately last week baby "passed the test" in probably about 10 minutes so we didn't have to stay too long. Hoping he is equally cooperative tomorrow!

Things just took a little bit of a change as of this week as my Dr who was going to do the delivery is a Family Practice Dr decided we have hit a too high risk point for her to see us any longer so we are moving to a OB practice (but that will mean any of the dr's on call will be the delivery Dr) this next week. I have an appointment for Wed to meet with the diabetes physician to decide if I truly need meds or not and if so what and how much and then also meet with the OB to get things figured out about delivery and scheduling. As a planner it is a bit odd to be doing this big switch for Dr's but hoping that it will give me more information once I get settled in with them.
