Following because I struggle with this. Claire's almost 4 weeks old so right now there's not much to do and not many awake periods where she's happy but for now we do tummy time 2-3 times and sitting on my lap against my thighs just talking and focusing on head/neck control. I'm looking for other ideas as she grows older!
Rowan will be turning 8 weeks old this Sunday. Here are some things we've been rotating: lots of face time with him sitting with his back against my thighs - we talk, sing, do mouth sounds, make faces, review body parts, and try to get him to track and grab objects like my fingers or his rattles; tummy time - on his mat, my lap and chest; playtime - lay him on his back for gym time where he looks at the hanging toys or in the mirror and kicks his legs and feet activating the keyboard for music, also we bring him in the playroom with DS1 where he basically watches him play although we try to include him with high fives and what not; massage and "bicycle" time - also helps alleviate gas; downtime - I'll put him in his pack n play and turn the mobile on or play some music to give him some alone time or put him in his Baby Bjorn chair so he can take in the environment on his own; baby carrier time - I'll strap him in and take DS1 in the backyard or just walk around the house slowly, in which he'll fall asleep; stroller walks; car rides; dance parties; storytime
I haven't tried the sensory things yet, like having him grab or rub different textures on him. Just remembered doing the airplane baby with DS1 so will have that to incorporate as well.
Daughter is almost 7 weeks. We do tummy time on my chest. I sing songs to her, usually making up the words to a tune or repeating the chorus. I walk around the house or outside. I play with her hands, having her grab my thumb. Make silly faces and voices. I like to brush her hair. She spends time in the boppy lounger looking at different things.
Hayes is 5 weeks. We do tummy time and back time on various playmats, we have rattles and sensory toys (I hold them in front if him or run different textures in his hands), we go on stroller walks or walks around the house. We've started combating his witching hour with a full on dance party, with music and singing and dancing (DH does a lot if singing throughout the day.)
I just have to say that, at first, I didn't see the word entertained and just read 'keeping our LO's.' I was very concerned that some people in our group had decided to forfeit their babies!
