I can't speak from personal experience, but I believe the concern with TTC that early is that it's not really enough time to build up the uterine lining after it's been heavily removed during the D&C. That's how my OB explained it to me, at least!
Our doctor told us to wait until after the first cycle. For the first few weeks NOTHING is supposed to go up there (tampons, D, etc) because of risk of infection. Your doctor should give you more info at your follow-up appointment as to when you can start TTCAL. Also, it depends on your specific situation (i.e. how far along were you, did you have any complications, did they get everything during the D&C) as to how long you should wait.

How lon ago was your D&C ? I had mine June 5, but we are waiting until after my 6 week checkup with the gynocologist to give us the go ahead. I've heard after your first cycle for dating purposes.
I waited one full cycle after D&C and D&E. Uterine lining and healing of cervix are reasons I was given to wait. I would go with your OBs recommendation.

Kaityalysha You really should follow your doctor's advice... unless you go get a second opinion. But since your doctor is the one who gave you the D&C, I'd say to do what they said. I know after a MC you don't want to wait and want to get started right away, but rushing into something can cause further damage and issues down the line.

Yea I would definately wait until when the dr advises, there usually is a reason they say to wait a certain amount of time, it all depends on how far along you were and your circumstances.
My doctor told me there's really no reason backed up by evidence to wait to try again. He told me no funny business for 2 weeks post d&c but after that to go for it just went I felt emotionally ready. I've found that my hormones have been off since the mc and I'm not convinced I ovulated last month but it hasn't stopped us from trying. My doctor is a super laid back guy though.
My OB said to wait until after a period. For me that came about 31 days after my D&C. For the first two weeks nothing inserted because of the risk of infection. She was fine that we did nothing to prevent after that as long as we didn't actively try. After my first period we are now actively trying.
Listen to your doctor. If you feel your OB is too conservative then find a new one. But don't go against doctors orders.
