Had my first appointment today and thought I should be 6+3 based on what I *think* was my LMP, but I wasn't 100% sure. Measuring only 5+1 and she thought she saw the HB but couldn't pin it down, so now I'm in limbo again til next week when she'll scan again. Ugh. Just nervous, I could tell she wasn't confident that this pregnancy is viable (I've been through 4 losses and 1 birth with her, so she's pretty straight with me). She wants me to quit breastfeeding immediately so I can take the baby aspirin she wants me to be on, so I'm expecting a cranky baby and bad sleep for a few days I just hope next week goes well, I'm trying hard not to be pessimistic.

Ask your pediatrician about the baby aspirin and nursing. When I checked into it my LO was nursing once in the morning and once before bed. He was fine with me taking it after the night time nursing and recommended that if she got a fever I stop until the fever cleared. Ultimately baby aspirin is not totally contra indicated for nursing moms according to lactamed.
ETA: sorry you got stressful news. I've been in the wait and see between u/s and it sucks a lot. FX your dates are just off somehow....which isn't unheard of with nursing.

From my LactMed app. Low dose aspirin is ok and no aspirin is secreted into breast milk. In case this helps and makes your situation a little more bearable...like I said, check with pedi too, but I think ok for you to nurse and take low dose aspirin.

I'm so happy this thread is here. I'm due 2/24 - third pregnancy, first ended in MMC at 10w-11w. I had a healthy DS following my loss but it doesn't make this pregnancy any less anxiety filled. My numbers were good, going for an ultrasound next week and hopefully we will see a good, strong heartbeat! I've been seeing a therapist weekly since my first loss, which helps, but I can't help just being negative about everything!

I'm going in for my first appt Friday (will be 8 wks). I recently found out that the doctors office won't do an ultrasound until 20 weeks! My pgal brain is having a very difficult couple days ( morning sickness totally lightened up out of nowhere , and disappearing symptoms terrify me). Do you think the doctors will approve an early ultrasound based on the fact that I miscarried this year around 8-9 weeks and I'm beside myself with worry? I don't know what to expect and I'm not sure if "I'm worried" is enough of a reason for them to approve early ultrasounds . Thoughts ? Opinions? Advice? Thanks!
@wal2017 I don't understand these doctors that are stingy with offering ultrasounds. Also the trisomy 13 and Down's syndrome test (IPS test) can only be done at 11-13 weeks and involves and ultrasound plus blood test (with a follow up blood test a few weeks later). Maybe you can ask for that test just to get the earlier ultrasound?

I understand the anxiety and am right there with all of you. I had just started out with the Nov 2017 crew when a MMC was diagnosed 3/29, followed by a D&C 4/12. I didn't handle things well and pretty much abandoned that board - I feel bad about disappearing but just didn't have the heart to post my update afterwards. I really didn't expect to be pregnant again so soon and have been trying not to get my hopes up too much. Last Thursday night I began spotting and by Saturday morning I had heavy, red bleeding and cramps. The bleeding changed over and became very dark and thick overnight. I waited until Monday morning to call the doctor and went in yesterday for an ultrasound. I was convinced I had miscarried on my own this time and they'd just check to make sure there were no signs of infection and that things were progressing ok. I was absolutely stunned when they found a heartbeat of 109 and that I was measuring 6w2d, right on track. The bleeding is coming from a large-ish subchorionic hemhorrage. It's in the right horn of my uterus and the baby has implanted in the left horn (I have a septum) so it doesn't appear to be affecting the pregnancy. So for now I just have to rest and keep an eye on the bleeding. I'll go back next week for another US. I'm finding it hard to switch from expecting the worst to hoping for a better outcome. At the moment I'm just here - not really even allowing myself to be cautiously optimistic.
So update, was able to see my little bean but too early to hear the heart beat so I have to come back in a week or so. Anyone else encounter this?
Did they tell you what the baby measured?
ETA you could have just ovulated later than you think. 6 weeks 0 days is really the earliest you might be able to see heartbeat with transvaginal ultrasound. So if you were a few days later than you think, it makes sense that you couldn't see the heart beating yet.
@wal2017 I requested early blood work and ultrasound from my practice. They typically don't do one unless you have the NT scan (11-13 weeks at my practice) and then the 18-20 week anatomy scan. Maybe you could ask?

Hello, The doctor could see it, but not hear/measure the heartbeat. I tried holding my breath to see if that would help, but no luck... I am measuring 6w,3d now, doing my best not to worry, the doctor didn't seem too concerned though.
@alemarie1 Same happened at my appointment, doc thought she could see the heartbeat but not well enough to pin it. I'm going back in a week. I was measuring smaller than expected though, thought I should be 6+3 but only measured 5+1, so I'm more concerned about that than the heartbeat being easily found this early. I know with my son they couldn't find the heartbeat when he was 5ish weeks but it was there very visibly at the next appointment, and that was with the good machine at the high risk OB, so they usually can find them really early! Moral of my post, it's pretty normal this early to be hit or miss with the US heartbeat!

I'm going for my appointment in a few hours and I'm a nervous wreck. My symptoms all disappeared within the last couple days and I'm having cramping now. I called the doctors office last night and spoke w the on call doctor just to get reassurance. She said , given the circumstances, they will probably order me an ultrasound. But I know from experience that "order an ultrasound" means "we can fit you in sometime late next week". I barely slept last night so hopefully they can speed things up. Oh pgal brain, you are the worst.
@wal2017 Good luck, hope they give you the US and you get good results and peace of mind today!! Make sure they really understand how concerned you are and maybe they won't give you a hard time about getting the US today.

Appointment went okay! The doctor was nice and ordered an ultrasound. The trouble is, they don't do them in office so I have to go to a different location in the hospital system. 11 locations and the earliest appointment available anywhere is next Friday afternoon Ugh why must everything be hurry up and wait?!
Hi Everyone, how's your week going? I got to hear little bean' s heartbeat today, and I'm measuring a day ahead so that's good, now to wait until the end of the month for the next ultrasound...
So glad for this! (TW) I had a mmc at 11 weeks followed by a d&c in February. So far during this pregnancy I've been so optimistic and confident (probably overcompensating) but the last day or so I've started to panic. All symptoms still strong, but I'm so distracted.
Saw baby on Friday at 6w+3 measuring perfectly and saw a heartbeat. I have no idea what the rate was, but tech was excited and said things were good. Doctor scheduled me for 4 weeks out but my anxiety won't let me go that long. Knowing me well, she said to call if I was having a "bad day." Trying to wait, but it's hard!
i had an u/s yesterday and baby was measuring right on target at 6 weeks 4 days with a heart rate of 127. I was so relieved! Ultrasounds give me so much anxiety. I was practically in tears before hand. Of course I felt better yesterday and my anxiety is back full force today. Ugh. Hoping everyone has good appointments and ultrasounds coming up!

@ash0625 - PGAL brain can be so hard sometimes! I'm glad your appointment went well! Try to focus on the positives - your little one looked great and had a great heartbeat. Hang in there - so many hugs to you! Try other things to distract yourself - going for a walk, listening to music, watching something funny... those all help me when my PGAL brain is kicking in.
@alemarie1 congrats on seeing your little bean! I saw mine today too - it's the best! I am in the same boat as you - now to wait another month - ahh!!!
@msunshine123 Thanks! I feel a little better today. I poke my boobs a lot to make sure they're still sore. My husband thinks I'm strange.

My first official OB appt was this morning. I didn't leave until two and a half hours later. :faint: I saw the NP for my intake appt. two weeks ago, and this was supposed to be the one where I meet an OB, but before that visit, I had to see a "counselor" who asked all these questions, some seemingly pointless, like "What's one thing you've learned or discovered about pregnancy?" Dude, this is my 6th baby. And then she mentioned breastfeeding. Fine. And how they have resources and the typical stuff they usually say. I'm still breastfeeding my 31 month old. I'm good.
The best part. Handouts for parenting classes and workshops. Lol. This whole thing reminded me of how much I miss seeing midwives. The OB was fine, but it always feels rushed. A standard appt. with my last midwife was an hour.
Anyway, my dating u/s is next Friday. They were backed up due to the 4th. I'm supposed to get my referral for the perinatologist soon for the Harmony test.

Hey all. Finally joining. I was really debating because I've had two MMC and was really active in my birth month groups. I had one in Aug 2016 (9w scan, measured 6w3d no HB) and then was put on progesterone by my Dr without checking my levels and had a second MMC in Feb 2017. My new Dr said the progesterone probably kept me from MC normally if I didn't need it. I really like my new Dr though he's an hour away. Responsive staff and an hour appt takes an hour. Plus the other docs in the group are great.
Had my US Wednesday. By my LMP I should be 8 weeks but based on when I got my BFP (and the fact that the few periods post D&C in Feb have been funky) I am about a week behind at 7w. However the heartbeat was 150 and I've never made it to 7w before and never heard or seen a heartbeat. Plus there's good growth because the week before I'd had brown spotting so the office had me come in. They did a US & I was 6w1d so the growth seems right on track.
Sorry for the long post but I'm just excited. My Dr said we're not out of the woods yet but I'm remaining optimistic.
