So we have this nest of robins in our hanging basket just outside the front door. Two babies, but they are fledgling size and have all of their feathers and colors. Today I accidentally scared them out of the nest trying to take their picture. . I wasn't that close (and they are used to me) but it was the click of the camera that scared them. They flew pretty far (one went all the way across the street) and the parents are still around so I'm hoping they will be ok! I pretty much feel like a selfish, typical human messing with nature. though.
Thanks a lot, Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard, for melting so fast and spilling when I went to lick the edge at a traffic light.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
This is my last weekend before starting my new job on Monday. I'm whining because I've been working remotely from home since we moved down here almost a year ago. I lost my job 3 months ago due to downsizing. Working from home never felt like I was working, so weekends weren't a big deal to me. It's back to the corporate world for me ... wah!
DH wanted to hit the road "early" because we have to head to his parents for SIL's shower. It's a typical 4 hour drive. We are 3+ hours in and still over two hours away. I asked if he remembered the favors me and other SIL made and of course he forgot. Thankfully my SIL didn't leave yet so maintenance has already agreed to let her in for us. He was about to turn around and just go up early in the morning. Blah. I was yelling "ILL JUST GO TO MICHAELS THE FAVORS ARE CRAP ANYWAY."
I have to report for jury duty on Monday morning, which I've never done before. I have no problem performing my civic duty, but if I get picked, I'll have to reschedule my 20 week US. Plus, I really don't feel like getting up early on Monday morning!
@hillaryo14 nope I have to report. Yeah that sucks that is during your vacation. It never seems to happen at a convenient time. Have you gotten called before?
@angkay711 Boo! I got called May 31 and let them know I had state testing that day. She rescheduled me for the day after school ended, but they didn't need anyone on the 31st and I was excused for 3 years. Hopefully you get out of there fast and can get excused for pregnancy.

Did too much walking today, I'm sore as heck. Spent most of the day doing errands then I get a text that DD has a headache and fell asleep. Then my mom thinks DD has a fever but can't work the thermometer (she didn't take the cover off). I get to her and sure enough she is hot and when I wake her up she's not coherent or focusing, then she starts uncontrollably crying. So off to the children's hospital we go as she has a history of seizures. Got discharged quick and ordered an out patient EEG, which sucks because they cost me 1200 and they are always negative. We are home, she's been sick and fever coming back so this will be my night. At least she is old enough to tell me what's wrong unlike when she was younger.
I'm sorry, @MaximumEffort. Sick kids are so hard. I hate it being able to make it better. And I would have gone to the children's hospital if my kid was incoherent and unfocused too.
Thank you ladies. She is passed out in her bed. I should be going to sleep in preparation for her to wake up middle of the night. Aside from the seizures the worst was the night before my wedding she threw up all over herself and her bed, midnight bath for her, no sleep before the wedding for me.
@MaximumEffort You are going through the ringer this week:( so sorry. Hope she continues to feel better and that things are going well enough with DH that you can work well together while she's sick:(
@MaximumEffort that's rough. I hope you get that miracle sick child night where they're so sick they just sleep it off.
I'm upset because I was up basically all night last night (combo of pregnancy and FD having nightmares) and then I didn't morning routine while DH showered. Then I went to the museum ALL DAY and walked around and chased FD and it was a disastrous day in itself. THEN I came home to find that my MIL decided YESTERDAY that she is going to have a yardsale at my house tomorrow morning. From 8am-3pm (is that really long or is it just me?) And so I made dinner, washed the dishes all with FD clinging to my leg because of course she's tired and clingy (DH took a nap and watched TV and went to subway) Then I put FD to bed but she was so overtired I had to rub her back and singb her to sleep. Then I went and helped my MIL organize the boxes of shit that she hauled to my house and labeled EVERYTHING for the garage sale tomorrow. Wrote signs. Then I came inside and DH was watching TV with SS1 and I asked him to wash the dishes please ( because in the two hours I was outside somehow the sink is full AGAIN) and he said in 5 minutes. So I asked like 20 mins later and he said 5 minutes and I said that's not fair I already gave you twenty you literally just finished a TV show and you're doing nothing (SS1 had left at this point) and he FLIPPED OUT at me and started yelling about how I always nag. He ended up storming off. I ended up washing the dishes angrily. My feet hurt. I'm fucking exhausted and I still have 10 things left on my to do list. PLUS my MIL halls promised she will be here at 6 30 (on a Saturday are you fucking joking) so we can set up the garage sale that I never volunteered my house or my one "day off" of the kids for (Saturdays they visit their mother)
Also I forgot my groupon password and it was a huge hassle
@bcashaw I'm betting he did that to avoid doing the dishes. Sounds like the apple didn't fall far from the tree because his mother seems like a piece of work. I hope you get the guts to say no someday soon because you do a lot and don't get credit for it.

@am+mommy I was just reading an article about the heat being so bad in some places that garbage cans are melting and stuff. Sounds brutal I hope you guys get a cold front soon
DH is away for the night. He just called and then FaceTimed me at 1:30am. I thought for sure something horrible had happened when I picked up. Nope. He just hit the wrong button. Grrrrrrr. Thanks, DH. Now I'm up.
@bcashaw no luck here. Woke up on a whim and took her temp. 103.4, tried Motrin and she threw it up so now we are watching tv and hydrating every 5 minutes.
I would have left the dishes and next time they wanted food they could wash one to use. I'm a bit passive aggressive like that.
We are driving 2 hours each way today to visit family and it is legit pouring rain outside. Really hoping it stops or slows, or this drive is going to take foreverrrrrr
@MississippiCatfish thanks. DH and I have worked out some stuff from this week. Still don't want to sleep with him and I've straight up told him that. He says he never wants to F this up and only wants me happy. Yesterday he meet DD and I at the hospital and then he himself couldn't fall asleep all night. I told him that was father's intuition since she ended up having the high fever past 104. So he stayed up and she cuddled on him, hotness and all. Ahe has a virus, I'm afraid I brought something home from work but idk what type of virus my patient had but she spiked fevers for days or that it's from the tick bite. Fever finally broke, poor girl is a big girl and need 10 ml of Motrin but the she is starting to get warm again. Thank you all for the kind words.
My husband is the worst. We have an agreement on the weekends on which day who wakes up early... Saturday is his day to wake up with the toddler and let me sleep til 930. And Sunday we reverse. And I get up early daily during the week to get her ready to get out the door for daycare.
Today I was seriously looking forward to sleeping in. DD was up 3 times last night (sick) and he snored through all of it. So when she woke up this morning and wandered out of her room and into ours, crying and begging to eat, I said "hey... get up" he said "uh huh..." and continued to lay there. For a solid 15 more minutes. I said "seriously hun... she's been fussing." He said "I hear her" but still didn't move. So I got pissed, threw back the covers, and got up and fed her breakfast, cleaned the kitchen, and took out the kitchen trash. He is still sleeping and I am seriously thinking of not talking to him at all today.
Sorry that was long. I feel better now that I ranted.
@bcashaw I just ready that on BuzzFeed, nothing is melting here (except me)
I love that I tried calling it an article. It was literally a list of photos.
@MaximumEffort things sound to be on the mend at your place, as long as your happy I'm happy, you've definitely had quite the week. As for DD I'm not sure if I hope it's a virus or a tick. I hope it's whichever one goes away fastest and she feels better soon. Poor girl
@kwaldy I can't stand when people mess with my sleep. Just don't do that. I will kill you.
I'm having such a hard day. The shit is hitting the fan with DD1 being at her Dads. (On the opppsite side of the country) Things are quickly unraveling and I'm learning how horrible things are. The house is absolutely filthy, bordering hoarding including dog poop and raw chicken left on the floor. Her step mom randomly took off, her dad has been sleeping 24/7 she woke him up at 130pm because she was starving. There's barely food in the house. She feels disgusting. They're smoking in the home and she found a mason jar of marijuana. Her dad falls asleep while smoking leaving burn holes in furniture. I knew she didn't like it there and she said the house was a mess but I thought she was exaggerating and I feel absolutely horrible because I had no idea things were so bad. I called the cops there and the best thing I can do is contact my custody lawyer.

Edit to include; also the tarantula hawks are coming out. Absolutely terrifying. If you don't know what that is, be very thankful.
The last place I lived had Cicada Killer Wasps and I thought those were bad. They're nothing compared to these monsters.
