Anyone good at gift suggestions? DH's birthday is July 6, and I have zero ideas.
  • Options
@doxiemoxie212 I'm a big fan of experience gifts... Have you guys done touristy things in your home town? I've done that before, and it's usually pretty cool because there is always so much that you just don't know about the history and different areas. You could plan a whole day ending with a fancy dinner or picnic somewhere special
  • Options
@Sailing_Mama lol if we lived anywhere else.... but alas, we live in NYC, and DH has lived here his entire life. Like, he grew up two blocks from the world trade center and was displaced after 9/11. If there is anything city kids despise, it's touristy activities... and tourists. lol

And I'd do a trip to somewhere else, but we're going to CA at the end of July for him to take the bar exam/for my birthday, so I don't think we can do one for his.... maybe we could go to Governor's Island for a few hours, though... hm

@doxiemoxie212 dinner & a movie date? If you're crafty maybe make him something? Day trip somewhere for a hike & picnic?

@doxiemoxie212 it so did. If it was me, I'd be scared she'd pull some more crap though. I won't lie, I was excited to see her this season too. She's some good drama.

Im really curious how they handle this 'break'. They obviously can't start over and pretend those few days never happened lol.

@catlady1215 I think they'll just start with Carly and Evan's wedding (which happened this weekend, and everyone was down in Mexico for), and maaaaaybe they'll do like a Chris Harrison direct to cam speech, but I honestly doubt it. I think they'll just brush it under the rug and pretend it didn't happen.

Well I went to the doctor yesterday and got some blood tests and she tried to get me an ultrasound yesterday but there was nothing available until 8:45 this morning (about an hour from now). But I'm in pain and I could literally throw up any second.

@Dilynne Both of my sisters have had theirs out and have felt much better since. Luckily with modern surgery, recovery is pretty quick. The biggest thing is the sore abs from the air. And, if that's where you're headed, getting it done now sure beats having it done during pregnancy (cousin did that & it stunk). GL!

OMG you guys. This morning I went to do the dishes and reached down to push the stopper into the sink and there. was. a. scorpion. I freaked, but it was dead, and DH took it out and I was ok.
    BUT THEN.
Not 10 minutes later I was picking up laundry, and there. was. another. one. On MH's pants. Alive. Big. And I really lost my shit.
I'm usually OK with scorpions, but not with them in the house and definitely not with two in 10 minutes, and now I'm freaked out about everything. :scream:

  • Options
@hedgepig @vflux33 scorpions definitely exist in norcal! Found a ton in my house growing up. Terrible. Cats always wanted to play with them.  :#
  • Options
@doxiemoxie212 @hedgepig Weird! We've seen a bunch of snakes lately but haven't run into a scorpion here yet. I'll keep an eye out.
  • Options
@vflux33 Yep, they're definitely around, although usually we don't see them much... maybe once or twice a year? My understanding is that ours aren't very poisonous though, more like a bee or wasp sting, if that makes you feel any better. Still, being surprised by them scares the ish out of me.

@hedgepig That does definitely make me feel better. MH was stung by a bark scorpion, which is super poisonous and hard to see. He was very lucky it was on his hand and not somewhere closer to vital organs or it probably would have killed him.
  • Options
@Dilynne oh no!! I've heard the surgery is pretty routine now and the recovery isn't too bad but I wish you didn't have to go through it. Good luck!

@hedgepig omg that sounds like the scariest thing ever!!! I freak out when I see the little garden snakes in my yard, a scorpion would probably give me a heart attack!!

@hedgepig and @vflux33, my DH was just stung about 3 weeks ago by a bark scorpion. What an experience to say the least. He can finally feel his finger again. Do you have any new construction in the neighborhood? I've heard scorpions are territorial and will usually start to migrate away from their natural habitats when disrupted. Scorpions also love laundry piles. I tried to use this as bargaining to get DH to keep his dirty clothes off the ground, but apparently that was just wishful thinking

    Oh but it gets better.

Its going to take 4 days for the results. So I'm at the ER now because I'm in so much pain I literally can't handle it. The ultrasound lady was like "your gallbladder looks fine but your liver looks enlarged" okay and what does that mean? "It means you'll have to wait 4 days for the results"
