There was a bad storm that rolled through last night, but my neighborhood wasn't hit too hard. Had to pick up some small limbs this morning. Omaha has a CWS weather curse because we always get really bad storms at least once during the tournament and often in the first night (which last night was).
My DSS has always been a good sleeper. It's super easy to lay him down for a nap or bedtime. But for some reason, he absolutely refused to nap in his bed and now he is sleeping on top of me and I'm trapped on the couch. I don't mind too nuch, but my left arm is kind of asleep now.
Eta because the contraction was important.

I'm back! Finally back home after three weeks in Toronto helping out my parents.
I'm exhausted - I never knew how tiring it was being in a hospital all day. And even though it's only three hours difference, it still killed me last night. Now DH and I are having a lazy day at home. I do have to contact our dog kennel though - we had to leave our fur baby for a weekend, and when my DH picked him up he had been in a dog fight (fair, it happens) but they didn't say anything or take him to the vet, DH had to do that when they got home a few days later. One of the bites was starting to abscess so it was good we did. I'm so furious, on top of everything else I've been dealing with.
@pebbledam, we're supposed to get some bad storms pretty soon. We had some weird ones last night where you could actually see the line between storm clouds and clear sky, and it was raining on one part of our parking lot but not another!
I'm spending my late Saturday afternoon reading a book about 16th-19th century scientists' attempts to figure out where babies come from. They came up with some pretty weird theories, so it's an entertaining book! (It's The Seeds of Life by Edward Dolnick, if anyone else is interested.) When you think about it, it would be really hard to form correct theories about what happens with only the tools they had back then...makes me really thankful for the advance of scientific knowledge!
DH had to go in the office today around noon. He told me not to expect him until 2-3am. I just watched dvr dirty dancing, the Tony's, downward dog, ate takeout mexican, now reading Kristin Hannah and drinking wine and crying. Because 13DPIUI and FRER negative and I'm lonely and sad and pathetic

Whoa, so slow this weekend! What are you ladies up to today?
I just (finally) finished a quilt that a family friend had started (cut out all the pieces), but couldn't finish so she asked me to. She's giving it to her son and DIL for their anniversary next weekend, so I finished just in time. Next up, more nerdy game playing and bitching about the heat...

I'm bored AF. DH is studying for the CA bar exam which means I'm also studying for the CA bar exam lol. I mentioned I thought the videos of the property law instructor were funny and now he insists we watch the videos together. He's like, don't you want to learn about mortgage law? Not in the slightest, sir. But whatever I've gotta do to help make moving back to CA possible right?
@doxiemoxie212 Anything to get to move back to CA! I was studying to take the US Constitution exam a couple of weeks ago and definitely roped MH and brother into studying with me
@BusinessWife What carrier did you get (or not get)?

@hedgepig welp. I already have a moby I found on clearance. So I may have found a Beco Soleil on sale and the accessories for $102 total? It also would hypothetically get me $75 off due to points I could put toward a lillebaby carrier at the same site, and I may also be this close to getting $80 off a Tula free to grow at another site. I plan to register for a solly wrap and some sort of ring sling, just to cover all my bases... I have never done any baby-wearing but I'm really looking forward to it! (Obv)
@BusinessWife I've been finding a lot of really cheap unused baby items at goodwill and have been snatching them up recently. Found a super cheap Tula we're looking to resell for money (because when I need a baby carrier I want one I can use from infancy) and we're trying to sell for about 60 including shipping.
@vflux33 always! He listens to podcasts at 1.7x so good lord thank god only 1.5. The instructor I like actually calls it out, he's like, on a scale from 1-10 how much do I sound like a chipmunk? And he thinks wills are dope because they're "zombie law." I have no idea if that's a unique concept but it made me laugh.
@BusinessWife oh man, I feel like I see baby product reviews in your future! Seriously I've searched on YouTube and there's nothing like beauty tutorials for baby products which is a shame. I hate shopping in stores but I need to see someone play with something before I'd buy it.
@charlestonchew. Ah! So smart! Is it the toddler one? I hear you, there are so many cute prints a birl could get sucked into, but somehow if I can manage to just get the one free to grow that will be awesome! The soleil goes from 7-45 with the infant insert, so I feel pretty good about that! :D
@doxiemoxie212. Hmm! Thats so weird! You would think there would be! I know there are often local babywearing groups/clubs and some of them even have carrier libraries that lend so you can try them out! I never attended one tho...
We're taking it a bit easy around the house today. But we did get the wall cabinet up in the laundry room (its only been sitting in the garage for about a month). We still have to figure out how to put in the base cabinet with some pipes in the way and get a countertop for it, but at least we can park the car in the garage, which is a blessing because we're hitting a record at 120 degrees tomorrow or Tuesday. Yuck.

@BusinessWife no, it just says standard size, minimum 15 pounds. I guess the free to grow is the newest product. There's an infant insert that can be used with the one I have but it didn't come with it.
@doxiemoxie212 lmfao I hear you there ❤ it can be hard to come clawing our way out of the ole shell... :/
@charlestonchew. What print it it? You wouldn't keep it and just get the infant insert for now? See if you dont come across a deal on a toddler one down the road??
@icecubeinthedesert. A month is not too bad! Lol so glad you can get the car in tho - I forget just how hot the vehicles van get from sitting in the sun! It's unreal!
