PGAL Check in Week of 6/14

Hi PGAL ladies,

Hope all are well! Yay we made it another week. This is getting exciting! Hope everyone is staying safe, letting you loved ones know how much you cherish them and having great things happen to you. This week questions:

1. How far along are you today?

2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)

3. How are you feeling symptom wise?

4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?

5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)

6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently)

  • 1. How far along are you today? 15+5

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun) One of my apps compares baby to "weird but cute animals", this week is a yellow canary.

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise? Great. I almost feel guilty posting that I have almost no symptoms. I have to pee every 20 minute, but that's about it.

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going? Other than having basically no signs that I am pregnant, really good. I'm excited to hear the HB Friday and hopefully find out the sex Saturday!

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)
Eyecolor, how kind he is, and how much he loves everyone.

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently) Air conditioning and my husband  :D

    1. How far along are you today?
    12+4

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)
Apparently I'm occupied by a toy soldier sized baby! At appointment today they said baby was about 3 inches long and had normal NT measurements. I'm measuring 13+2

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?
They seem to have let up a bit.

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?
Great, after my awesome ultrasound today. Everything is perfect. Heart rate 152. Baby has all the parts they would expect at this time. I feel like my anxiety has been significantly lowered.

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)
Can I go opposite and say which one I don't want baby to get from him? Hahaha. My answer to that would be: his feet. My feet are way cuter. His are like blocks. Very wide and flat. LOL

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently)
Great ultrasound, my mom letting us move in while we sell our house/look for a new one, 9 days of school left (only 5 with real academics!)
    31 years young
    from Seattle(ish)
    5 years married
    FTM and PGAL
    EDD is 12/23/17

    2. What size is baby other than fruit?
baby weighs about 70grams according to my app. Boring but you said not fruit lol. :p

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?

Ok for the most part. Nausea still there. Meds keeping sickness in check though. Tired a lot of the time.

    4. How is PGAL anxiety? Ok I guess. I'm contemplating coming out of the closet this weekend. We are having a BBQ with my sisters and dad. No one knows yet. I'm still scared to even consider telling. I keep thinking what if 20 week ultrasound shows something.

    5. What trait of your partners do you hope baby will inherit?

His strength, his kind heart. His eyes.

    6. GTKY? Name 3 things you are grateful for this week?

end of school year, Ice cream, my husband.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    14 weeks, 5 days

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)
    A lightbulb?  I'm guessing...

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?
Not so pukey, but still having trouble with nausea and my food aversions are a bit nutsy.  DH and I went out to eat and when his entree came I couldn't even look at his plate.  It was so awkward!

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?
With the good test results & going (somewhat) public, I seem to be on an optimistic trend.  I've been working on a registry to make sure we know what we need and cleaning out the room that will be baby's!

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)
Superficially:  DH's hair and eyelashes are 10/10 and mine are like 3/10, so his would be preferable.
Less superficially:  DH's kindness, strength, and selflessness.

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently)
    Supportive family
    Good friends
    Air conditioning

  • Congrats on another week, mommies-to-be! Love the gratitude question.

    1. How far along are you today?
    11w6d

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)
    Egg?

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?
Better and better, except today -- tired and blah all day. :(

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?
Much better. Can consistently find hb on doppler now, unlike last week's check-in, which I only posted a couple days ago...

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)
His sanguine disposition and kindheartedness. Maybe also his Armenian skin tone. My DS has my and my mom's fair skin and my mom has been under the knife for melanomas on a continual basis for the last year. Not that where we live in Pittsburgh is particularly sunny, but DH doesn't have to worry about sun exposure at the beach like me.

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently).
    1) Making it this far. 2) Working part time instead of full (had to go to work all day unexpectedly and was like "whaaa! how did I used to do this everyday...". 3) That there have been no flame wars on the PGAL threads so far...

  • My worst fear was confirmed. This baby is also affected by the genetic condition. I was doing so well up until that call and now I like my world has crumbled.

  • Prognosis is definitely better because we know now rather than birth. He has MMA, and part of the treatment for his type is B12 injections. I will be starting those soon. He will spend some time in the NICU while they figure out his diet l and hopefully we will avoid a major metabolic crises. It's just all very overwhelming and we're struggling. Obviously we knew there was a chance, but it was only a 25% chance. 75% chance that everything would be okay and I was really clinging to it.
  • Prayers going out for you @rainbowdashh stay strong girl <3
  • @rainbowdashh im sending you so much positive energy and love in my heart  thinking of you now and the precious little one growing in side you. i have to look up what MMA is but thank you for bringing awareness to this issue. If there is anything i can do to support or advocate or anything please let me know.
  • 1. How far along are you today? 12 weeks 0 days.

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)? I wrote this question and I hate it lol. I didnt realize how hard it would be to find non fruit sizes of things.LOL sorry yall.

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?

I randomly had severe nausea/vomiting on Tuesday at work. So I started taking the diclegis 4 times per day. Still feeling tired but I think it may because I may have a cough or cold or something.

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?

Horrible. I had an SCH in the beginning of pregnancy. *Loss Mention* Now I am in my 12 week which is when I found out about my last loss which was a missed that they were saying may have passed at 10-11 weeks. I work at a hospital so I have been ultrasounding myself whenever I can not find HR on doppler. Everytime I do the sono I note how the placenta always seems  to look like there is bleeding behind it. Now with the coughing I worry that I might dislodge whatever was holding down the placental blood collection and am waiting for the other shoe to drop with vaginal bleeding. I am afraid on my NT scan they are going to tell me that I have some placental anomaly. I havent been exercising or doing much other than work because I am afraid  to trigger the bleeding episode and miscarriage. This is the furthest I have made it so far with an intact fetus so I am struggling to control my anxiety. And everytime I cough I literally think OMG is this the one? its nuts. im nuts. Also im prepping for an 8 hour move that needs to be done in 12 days. we are barely packed and now it seems like it maybe prohibitively expensive to move our cheap ikea furniture so we may end up buying new furniture anyway. and also a long car ride with 3 cats ill see if the vet can give them a tranquilizer or something (isnt that horrible! i know but I dont want to drive myself and them crazy in a car for 8+ hours)

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)

So superficial - my husbands eye lashes and eyebrows bc they are long and thick and mine are skimpy. Non superficial - his good open heart, his kindness and the fact that he is genuinely a nice person who cares about other people whereas I am more of a hot/cold scorpio that holds grudges (forever)

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently)
Im grateful for my husband, he is my rock. im grateful to havehim, like seriously i dont know how i would exist right now being sick and pregnant and PGAL anxiety without him rn. Im grateful for my friends especially you know those ride or die friends that are there no matter WHAT? and lastly im grateful for my new job and the opportunities I have to get out of my current work situation. also im grateful that im finally getting  closer to this ultrasound and MFM appointment ive been waiting for over a month for.

@blueskies17  im so proud of you for only using your doppler twice a week! also so happy that the anxiety is easing and the fatigue too! yay. im about to eat pizza right now and yes i am so grateful for it. its literally the best food that ever happened to my life.

@ktcakes87 - did you find out the sex? whats the eye color? my husband has blue eyes and mine are sinking black wells lol - it would be very misleading to call them dark brown lol
@cmillar36  - did you end up announcing? i totally feel you about wanting to wait until the anatomy scan. i kind of want to do that too but my blabbermouth brain is overtaking my PGAL brain rn and I wanna announce after the NT scan
@Amber_Waves thanks for the idea about the superficial vs not superficial qualities... yay that you are in the 2nd trimester holy land. is it as awesome as its promised?  what have you put on your registry? the only thing i have so far is this cordless, hidden breast pump that should be coming out later this year
@Katya1982  i have to look up sanguine! lol.

  • @jackiesmom324   I hope your anxiety lets up soon.  It seems like constant access to an ultrasound is a double-edged sword.  Between appointments, I just keep my mentality at, "what will be, will be."  I think I'd make myself crazy if I had a doppler or access to an US.  Of course, different things help/hurt different people.

Last time I was pregnant, before the loss, I worked through Lucie's List to make a registry.  By no means did I register for everything they recommend (for example: no swings etc because we plan on doing natural motor development & no clothes because we will get a lot of hand-me-downs and I like to shop for that stuff).  But, Lucie's List is a good starting place.  I had a PDF copy of the old/deleted registry and started there + looked at Lucie's List again.

  • 1. How far along are you today?
    16 weeks, 1 day

    2. What size is baby? (lets pick something other than fruit, that could be fun)
I'm lame and will stick with fruit... Avacado.

    3. How are you feeling symptom wise?
Good, starting to get the 2nd trimester good vibes going. Getting some energy back, less sickness.. I'm hungry all the f-ing time!

    4. Hows PGAL anxiety going?
I think my anxiety will start to go away once I start feeling baby move regularly.. I felt him for the first time this week, and that relieved a lot of stress. And being 2 weeks into the 2nd trimester also helps... but it's still there.

    5. What trait of your partner are you most looking forward to the baby inheriting? (hair color, eye color, smile, taste in music/movies, eyelashes?)
I kind of want my son to have his daddy's ears. It's hard to explain what they look like, but they are adorable on my DH in all of his childhood pics.

    6. Name three things you are grateful for this week (supposedly the world's most happy people practice gratitude frequently)
I am grateful for feeling the flutter of my son inside me for the first time. I am grateful for that my doctor offered a sex determination ultrasound yesterday, which confirmed that baby is a boy, and we got a lot of cute pictures and see baby move and open his mouth. And I am grateful for my three daughters, who are obsessed with this baby and my pregnancy. It's adorable to see their excitement.

  • @rainbowdashh I'm so incredibly sorry for the news you have received. Like you said, it's good to know now than at birth, but it doesn't change the devastation you are feeling. I hope you take some time for some self-care.

haha, it is a favorite old SAT-GRE word. It also means "blood-colored." I think in the Middle Ages when Humorism was the dominant medical theory, a cheerful temperament was thought an outcome of good blood, so that is always how I remember the definition. :)

  • @jackiesmom324 No, they weren't able to tell the sex for sure. We go back this week, hopefully the baby cooperates this time. DH's eyes are technically hazel but lean more towards blue/teal. They are so pretty.
