    1) what is your BC method of choice?
None...I'm absolutely done. Permanent measures are the only choice for me because the others either don't work or give me crappy side effects.
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)?
So I was on combo bc pills for like 10 years because of ovarian cysts and had no issues...after DD1 was born I went right back on them and wound up with migraines with an aura (I lost my vision) so I'm not allowed to be on those anymore because I'm at a higher stroke risk. I've had 2 Mirena IUD's displaced so I'm not playing that game again...
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else?
Nope- no matter what permanent birth control is happening this time.

    4) negative side effects?
Migraines, increased anxiety, and stabbing pain/displacement of the IUD- I'm definitely done with birth control.

    5) things you like about it?
I really liked the combined BC I was on for years before it turned on me. So be aware...after babies everything can change and what used to work might not anymore.

    1) what is your BC method of choice? Before TTC I used bc pill. Ortho tri Cyclin I believe. It was fine and while I was on it my endo symptoms were barely noticeable. We were TTC for 2.5 years so we did charting, etc. I have very predictable cycles and I'm hoping will still have that after LO is born.

    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? Since I was sexually active- I guess 19?

    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? I might ask on the stupid questions thread- but when does the cycle get back to "normal" ?? after BF if done? When should I even think about whether I can get pregnant again? We might try for a second one but def not right away. I'm also curious about why so many people are against the IUD? It seems like a nice alternative- esp the non hormone kind.

    4) negative side effects? I'm curious about side effects from IUD. I know with my BC pill in the past, I had pretty significant mood swings and as I get older, I am very sensitive to hormone changes in terms of my mood. Our brief stint with Clomid was a friggin NIGHTMARE! I tried it for one month and basically realized I would either be locked up for murder or end up divorced if I kept taking it. So much rage- hahahaha.

    5) things you like about it? Um...the pill in my younger days was simple enough. I've never had a "pregnancy scare" because the whole time I was using condoms or pull out during times of bc pill breaks I unknowingly had endometriosis so I had trouble conceiving. I want to look into an implant for the next go round- unless I can just use NFP for a year before trying for a second. I guess it will depend on my cycles after LO is born.

@callababy17 Yep. Mine returned at 5 weeks post partum even while EBF. I had two regular-ish cycles, two longer than normal cycles and from when DS was 6mo I was back to normal. I nursed him until he was almost 2.

I have 3 sisters and all 3 have a Mirena and are happy with it, so it freaks me out less knowing that. But, I see where those that are scared are coming from.

    1) what is your BC method of choice?  I've done BC pills and IUD (Liletta, the 3 yr version of Mirena)
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? I was on BCP since becoming sexually active, about 11 years off and on. Didn't take it when I wasn't in a relationship
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? I'll probably do an IUD again, even though I thought it was giving me problems, turns out it is just my body being weird after having a baby. I would like to do NFP, but I work nights so my sleep schedule is wonky. I know it can be done successfully (to prevent or conceive) with weird sleep, that is how we got PG with this one the first month, but I am not sure if I'm ok with an oops baby yet....
    4) negative side effects? I thought it was giving me irritation and frequent yeast infections (like every month or 2x/month)  turns out it wasn't the IUD. But I wasn't one of the lucky ones who didn't get a period on it, I had one every month for the 9 months it was in place...
    5) things you like about it? Not having to think about BC was nice. It wasn't difficult or painful to place either.

I work for a doctors office that inserts and removes IUD's and witnessing that, I'm going with the @jessafishy nope gif. Some people love them. I will say my friend had one, it was great, had it removed, got pregnant, and then bled for the first 20 weeks of her pregnancy because the Mirena she had caused a synchronic hemmorage somehow..
i think it's just personal preference.

There is a new birth control that is becoming more popular, Nexplanon. It is an insert that goes in your arm that prevents pregnancy just like an IUD.

@tyannej one of my good friends got the insert that goes in your arm and she just got it removed because it gave her loads of problems. She couldn't stop bleeding! She has a while slew of issues though so it may not be a normal experience.

    1) what is your BC method of choice? Hormonal Birth Control Pill. First with lo loestrin and then switched to Junel
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? 5 years
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? I'll probably go back on the pill
    4) negative side effects? It may have killed my sex drive.
    5) things you like about it? Don't really need to worry about tracking my cycles

I was on birth control before daughter. After we just timed and occasional condoms. Turned out my daughter was luck as we had to do IVF this time around. So I'm undecided... SO over hormones after IVF but watch me have an oops kid now.

Once we're done I'll either get my tube removed (other one already a goner) or if hubby mans up he can get snipped ;) I'm sure he'll be a baby so it'll be on me.

@carries2018 I told DH about your comment and he said "I'll take that bet!"  :D:|

    1) what is your BC method of choice? We did FAM with the Caya diaphragm during fertile times with spermicide.
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? I have been doing FAM since I have been sexualy active I tried taking a pill not sure which one but it was the one that works for my sister and had horrid reactions to it dizzy, anxious, tired, and I felt like I was loosing my mind and I only took it for 2 days my OB told me I can't take anything hormonal ever because I can't tolerate it at all. I have also used the Today's sponge during fertile times and condoms a few times also. We did the FAM thing for about 10 months before trying for a baby but it took 15 months to get pregnant and we did the whole RE thing and they never found anything wrong.
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? Planning to to do FAM with the Caya diaphragm and such after although I need to look into how it all works after baby and breastfeeding and all.
    4) negative side effects? I worry that I am not doing it reliably and before it took so long to have this little girl I would worry I would randomly get pregnant but I am less worried now as it seems that is unlikely to happen.
    5) things you like about it? Not feeling so icky on birth control pills and I get to know a little more about my cycle then I had known previously.

@dumbledoredies wow really? Thata crazy, I can't say I blame her though. At the doctors office I work at we insert them and as far as I know the people that have gotten them haven't had any issues. But everyone is different! Hopefully she can find something that works!

    1) what is your BC method of choice?  Nuvaring before I got pregnant with my first.  I was on the mini pill when I got my surprise bfp with my October 17 baby.
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)?  Nuvaring I was on for 5 years no problem.  I was on the mini pill for 2.5 years after my first son was born, got my period back at 14 months pp and got pregnant on it a year later.
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else?  I'm going to do the mini pill again (with added protection) until 1 year postpartum when my husband can get a vasectomy.  We are done after two kids.
    4) negative side effects?

    1) what is your BC method of choice? Condoms
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? Have used them for 6 years
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? Probably something else. We think we're done. DH will get a vesectomy assuming this is an uncomplicated vaginal delivery. If I end up with a c-section then I'll have them tie my tubes.
    4) negative side effects? Kind of breaks up the mood while you're getting frisky but didn't bother us too much.
    5) things you like about it? It's easy. I don't have to do anything. We only need to use it when we're having sex. It doesn't mess with my hormones. Sex is cleaner :)

Didn't think I would see so many using pull-out method and natural family planning :)

    1) what is your BC method of choice? The pill
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? I went on it when I was 16 due to heavy, constant periods.  Went off of it at 28 when TTC and did nothing since DS was born because it took 2 1/2 years to get pregnant with DS and we decided we would let this pregnancy happen when it happens
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? So I like that the pill is super reliable, but I'm not good at taking a pill every day.  I've been thinking about an IUD, but they kind of freak me out.  I'm super intrigued by all of the NFP mentioned here, so I think I'll look into that some more, I just don't know how I would fair with never truly knowing if I'm pregnant or not, plus I have super inconsistent cycles
    4) negative side effects? I would get nauseous when I had to double up on pills, but otherwise no other bad side effects
    5) things you like about it? consistent periods and reliability

    1) what is your BC method of choice?
non hormonal IUD. Never had problems, 3-4 day cycles, very light and no hormones. In the past, I have tried the pill, patch, ring, and the shot. The IUD wins hands down.
    2) how long have you been on it (before TTC obviously)? I had it for 3 years before DD1 and 2 years prior to this pregnancy.
    3) plans to go back on it after baby or something else? Back to the IUD.
    4) negative side effects? None
    5) things you like about it? Effective without my input, no side effects for me. Getting it placed the 2nd time was easier than the first. It also helped me figure out how to check my cervix.

Warning: This may get a little religious, but not "birth control is evil" religious. Just "personal convictions" religious.

    1.  Absolutely nothing.  I waited what felt like forever to get married/have sex/have kids and the wanting to be a mom literally tore me apart.  During that time, I coped by "handing my fertility over to God" and letting Him decide when the time was right for me to be a mom.  However, I realized once I got married that it would be hypocritical to take back that control and try to decide when/how many kids we have.  So I'm firmly anti-prevention.  I'm aware of my cycles, but I don't keep track in order to control when we concieve, only to have an idea when to test.
    2.  Like forever.
    3.  We will probably do the same thing.  DH knows how I feel about BC.  I will let him use condoms if he wants to, but won't purchase or remind him to use one.  It will be interesting what happens after the next baby since he only wants 4...
    4.  Negative side effects...I guess some might consider 3 babies in 4 years a negative, but not me.
    5.  I'm a mommy.  I don't feel the need to stress about whether my birth control is working or not.  I have sex with my husband, sometimes it results in a baby, and that's ok.
