1. What have you read recently? 
 Almost finished with The Secret History by Donna Tartt. Has anyone here read it? I've heard only rave reviews but I'm really not enjoying it.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads?
 Anything Sophie Kinsella is a great quick read for car trips or lake days!

 Same as @Cauleyflower, LOTR all the way.

We've loved reading Dr. Seuss so far, and plan to start doing Harry Potter or Hobbit/Lord of the Rings maybe in a few months.

1. What have you read recently? I've had a hard time getting through any books in the last year or so. Toddlers are hard, yo. However, I just finished The Secret History of Twin Peaks a few weeks ago. I am currently making my way through "One with You" by Sylvia Day. It's a dirty novel in the Crossfire series.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads? When my brain can't take anything heavy, I read dirty novels.

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation? Harry Potter! All of them.

4. What book(s) are you most looking forward to sharing with your LO or for STM+, what have you loved reading with your littles? At this age, I LOVE reading the Berenstain Bear books and Little Critter. I had them when I was little and I love sharing them with DD. In fact, she just got the new baby books from both series yesterday and we've read them multiple times.

 1. What have you read recently? Still working on reading back through Song of Fire and Ice. It will probably take me a year to get through all of them again

2. Any favorite summer beach reads? Not really, although when I was in high school we had to read Kate Chopin's The Awakening over the summer and my teacher suggested we read it at the beach. Totally made sense to me. 

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation? Probably at tie between Harry Potter and LOTR

Crappy romance because it doesn't involve a great attention span and with a toddler, my attention span is tiny. Haha

@schaze now I want to read Sophia Kinsella again--it's been a few years. I just bought a new Clive Cussler for the beach or pool too.

I thought they did a great job with LOTR, but I must admit I'm a sucker for The Notebook, Message in a Bottle and the rest of Nicholas Sparks' adaptations.

Charlie loves books, and we have quite the library. I'm looking forward to introducing him to the Hardy Boys in a few years because I loved reading Nancy Drew as a kid. If we have a little girl then I can't wait to introduce her to the American Girls series.

1. What have you read recently? I've got two that I'm currently reading. Startup: A Novel by Doree Shafrir (love her podcast with her husband on their IVF journey) and The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads? This is from a few years ago, but I really enjoyed We Were Liars.

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation? Hmmm I don't know. I probably have seen a movie that was based on a book and didn't know. I mean, I enjoyed LOTR and Harry Potter, but nothing else comes to mind.

4. What book(s) are you most looking forward to sharing with your LO or for STM+, what have you loved reading with your littles? I didn't know I would love this, butttt Llama Llama Red Pajama is my sons favorite and I love reading it to him.

I just joined Book of the Month, and I have 3 books coming my way that I'm pretty excited about, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Since We Fell, and Into the Water.

Currently working through I'm Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi. It's great.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads?
I gravitate toward romances and YA in the summer. Diana Peterfreund's Secret Society Girl series was a particularly good beach read a couple years back for me.

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation?
I am a big Fitzgerald nerd, and I LOVED Baz Luhrmann's Great Gatsby. Minority opinion, I know.

I will never be tired of reading Don Freeman's Corduroy or A Pocket for Corduroy.

1. What have you read recently? 
Seriously nothing! With all of the end-of-school-year stuff happening right now, I haven't been reading and it's killing me! I'm always in the middle of a couple of books. I read "Feversong" recently (one of the "Fever" novels by Karen Marie Moning...for those that like fantasy and some hot-and-heavy romance, I definitely recommend that series), but that was over a month ago! I'm finally going to get around to reading Kate Morton's "The Lake House" in the VERY near future (like, next week). 

2. Any favorite summer beach reads?
Cheesy romance novels. They're always my go-to beach reads. But...with a toddler, I don't do much reading at the beach these days which is totally tragic.

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation?
"Memoirs of a Geisha," "The Help," "Jane Eyre," Pride and Prejudice," (you speak my love language, @PleaseSendPicklesNow) and The "Divergent" movies. 

4. What book(s) are you most looking forward to sharing with your LO or for STM+, what have you loved reading with your littles?
Like, @missblaze, I LOVE reading the Little Critter books with DD. I have all of the ones from when I was a kid, so watching her get excited about them is such a joy. DD is a book FANATIC (which is why I know she's mine), so we spend a lot of time reading. We like the Dr. Seuss and PD Eastman books. I'm looking forward to when she's older so we can read HP, the Percy Jackson books, and Goosebumps.

I try to avoid watching movies of books I've read. I'm never satisfied with the adaptation.

@cyanope Memoirs of a Geisha was so good! And totally forgot Pride and Prejudice, I probably watch that movie once a month at least.

@PleaseSendPicklesNow - That is probably my favorite Christopher Moore book, but I love so many of them! If you haven't yet read Dirty Job, it's probably my second favorite!

1. What have you read recently?
Not much. Started The Underground Railroad recently but haven't gotten too far. Too tired to read at night.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads?
Bought Big Little Lies to read over the summer, but haven't started it yet. Usually love any good thriller/mystery. My intellect does not have to be stimulated by summer reading.

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation?
Hmmmm, that's a tough one. For some reason, About a Boy, comes to mind. I am certain there are others I love and probably even some that are better, but I'm having trouble digging into the memory bank.

4. What book(s) are you most looking forward to sharing with your LO or for STM+, what have you loved reading with your littles?
Eventually, Harry Potter, but the early ones I look forward to sharing are Goodnight Moon, The Giving Tree, Pokey Little Puppy, Winnie the Pooh, and so many more.

I recently finished Ember in the Ashes series, followed by the Court of Thorn and Roses series.

I read anything, anytime. Mostly sci fi or romance type books, but I also like military books.

Love all of the Nancy Tillman books, @Dani0329! My mom bought me several for my baby shower with DD, and I remember just BAWLING as I read them all before she was born.

I read "A Court of Thorns and Roses," but didn't finish it. I couldn't get into it for some reason. It was right after I had DD, though...when I wasn't in my right mind! Maybe I need to give it another go because I've heard a lot of people say they love it.

I just finished the newest instalment in the Mercedes Thompson Series (urban fantasy) and really enjoyed it.

2. Any favorite summer beach reads?
I tend to gravitate towards Sci-Fi and fantasy, but I'll read pretty much anything!

3. What's your favorite book to movie adaptation?
It was made into a TV show and not a movie, but I love the Outlander series.  I'm a sucker for anything to do with highlanders.  If I had to pick a movie however, definitely LOTR.

Harry Potter for sure.  I loved the books when I was younger.

@Dani0320 I love the Court of Throne and Roses series! I also loved Sarah J. Mass' other series, the Throne of Glass.

I'm currently reading Once a Solider by Mary Jo Putney.

Any dirty romance novels. They are pretty much my go to when I need a light read.

I liked the Harry Potter adaptations.

When baby is little, Dr. Suess. As it gets older, Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. If it is a girl, I also want to read it the American Girl series and the Baby Sitters club. I loved those as a child.

Just started a book club with some friends and close to finishing All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. A little slow to start, but overall liking it.

@cyanope - That one was a good read too (maybe not a fun read, but a good one).

Currently reading "Crucial Conversations" - another nerdy read that I think will help me out at work. The last time I read for fun it was the Divergent Series

There's an old (antique maybe) anthology of bedtime stories - one for each day of the year that has been part of my family for a couple generations. It is #1 on my list to read to my LO. Also the Bearnstein Bears, Amelia Bedelia, Anne of Green Gables, Little House on the Prairie (yes even my sons on those last two), Nancy Drew/The Hardy Boys, Harry Potter. I feel like I'm mainly being a parrot right now, but they're all such good books! Also going to read them "What Child Is This" as they get older. Its a great story and it completely changed my perspective on some of my classmates who weren't growing up in the perfect home/family situation that I was. It was a good life lesson.

1. What have you read recently? 
At the moment I am reading King's Cage. I am a huge fan of the Red Queen series. I have had to put reading aside for the moment but hopefully soon going to get back into.

I don't really read at the beach but I would probably take a Harry Potter book if I did.

Harry Potter. Plain and simple, all the other movie adaptions I have read have just disappointed me.

When I was little my mom got a complete set of the Little House on the Prairie books for me, box cover and all and she used to read them to me. I loved them so much, I hope to read those to my children soon. Defiantly Harry Potter. To Kill a Mockingbird obviously when there older and in school, it has a very good message. And Fahrenheit 451 is another favorite of mine, and I would like to eventually read that to my children.

Y'all. I tried reading the giving tree to my son a few weeks ago and couldn't make it through it. I was a crying hot mess and I wasn't even pregnant at the time.

I'm currently reading the Premonition series. Very fantasy, paranormal, romance teen stuff. Hey, 31 is still appropriate. Anything urban, dystopian or modern Christian. I always have a book or kindle in my hand.

Savannah by Savannah series by Denise Hildreth, hilarious! Also the Miss Match series by Erynn Mangum..

I would say Pride and Prejudice or Eragon.

Any of the old nursery rhyme books, I loved those and I pray LO does too. Any Bible stories. BFG, Where the Wild Things Are, Curious George, Corduroy, Dog Named Spot.... ahhhh, I can't wait!

LOVED "All the Light We Cannot See," @sjb2215! I don't think I've read anything that beautifully written in a LONG time. I wish I had the ability to craft sentences like that, but unfortunately, that is not a gift I possess!

@britmanering73 just curious what you liked about the Eragon movie? Everyone I've talked to (including me) had nothing but terrible things to say about it. I'll admit, I threw the DVD case at the TV at one point

@schaze pretty much the relationship between Eragon and his dragon. The effects weren't much but I still loved the books so much I was happy they made a movie.

So, so many good books I don't even know where to start! I follow "The Read Alound Revival" and she's got some awesome recommendations. Check her out. We've loved listening through the entire Little House on the prairie set, I Love You Forever makes me choke up every.single.time! I like the Jesse Bear books. Goodnight moon of course.

I just started the last book of Libba Bray's Great & Terrible Beauty trilogy. I also have Heartless checked out from the library, that's next on my list.

Whatever I'm reading at the moment, usually fantasy. BC (before child) I would bring a 4 or 5 book series to blow through on vacation - The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Outlander, one with space captains that was really good but I can't recall now, I'll have to look it up...

Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Hunger Games

DS is 2.5 so I've been grabbing books I remember from the library like Tikki Tikki Tembo and whatever else I run across. My mom also saved a bunch of our favorites so at the beach last week we were reading Ten in the Bed and Baby Blue Cat and the Whole Batch of Cookies.
