@SkilledSailor Thread away! I think this GTKY was used recently in WTO, but that's OK.
@hedgepig Before I started temping (I hate waking up that way and waking MH and avoided it as long as possible) I judged O just based on CM and now that I've been temping I've discovered that was not very accurate for me. Maybe for some people, but not me. I guess not a huge deal for you this time because you're technically TTA, but right now my chart is showing EWCM 2 days after O, just to give you an idea. As for Facebook, I mention this here all the time because I want to encourage others: I left Facebook almost a year ago now because of political stuff after the primary was over, and have been off of it for almost all of TTC and it is the BEST. I thought I was just going to deactivate for a couple months to wait out the election, but then I realized it was so much better for my mental health to be off while TTC. No weird confrontations with acquaintances, no KU announcements, etc. Yes, there are parties I'm not getting invited to. Yes, there are "friends" from grad school or whatever that I used to keep in touch with there who I'm not sharing memes with anymore, but it turns out I don't really care about any of that. Not for everyone, but you could always deactivate for a week and see how you feel!

Month/Cycle: 14/12 CD/DPO: 51/9 Timing: abstained then ED Testing: probably not going to matter (see below) R/R: You guys, I did it. I went down the rabbit hole.
I searched for old threads about how later ovulation makes it less likely you'll get KU. There is apparently an ongoing debate about this on TB. Though I wasn't able to find any actual scientific articles about it, a lot of ppl have been told by their doctors that when you ovulate later your lining isn't as good and the egg aged after it matured, etc. Other people say, "hey, wait I know a girl who didn't get AF for 3 years then got KU," etc. but both sides seem to only be anecdotal. The later ovulation being less good makes sense to me. So I'm probably less likely than I thought to be a pretreatment SS, and have a date with Mr. Noperson coming up. CS/Q: Do you know of any legit sources for this ^^ ? GTKY: What fictional place would you most like to go? Fantasia.
@vflux33 I think TTGP is really IF/Testing heavy right now (myself included), and I think most don't participate in WTO/TWW. Although WTO always seems to be boppin', so who knows! I still sometimes hang out in the dailies because the IF thread overwhelms me. I don't have any legit sources for the late ovulation but adirat is always a good person to ask about that stuff. She's a super sleuth research interpreter!
@lund Yeah, I was just doing IF/Testing at first, but my first treatment cycle got delayed for what turned into months. I'm planning on going back, but yeah I agree--it can be so intense in there and I don't mind the dailies like some IF'ers. Sometimes when I'm in there I feel small time next to these awesome ladies who know so much about IVF etc and I'm like waiting for my meager first IUI with Clomid to start lol, which seems like a lot in the dailies but next to most people in there feels like a heap of nothing.
That's a good idea about adirat. I'll PM her since I know she isn't loving the dailies.
Testing: next Wednesday - I have all day meetings that day and do not want to be blindsided by AF mid-meeting
R/R: Rant: I've got hives. they started over the weekend (thankgoodness, or else I'd be symptom spotting all over the place!) and it goes up my neck on each side and around my ears. I'm slathering on hydrocortisone, but it's so itchy! RAVE: Might have a new (used) dresser option that we are going to consider buying this weekend. We've been married 2.5 years and still have 4 different styles among our dressers and nightstands.

@skilledsailor - nice work on the bags! I get O pain as well, but until temping and taking OPKs, I didn't know when it was occuring in the O process. It can start a couple days before, or that day, or even the day after. FWIW, I'd enjoy the wine and not worry about testing until you get back.
@hedgepig - that's so rough with the FB announcements. sending you hugs to get through this month
@doxiemoxie212 - I'll take your gloominess and send you some humidity and sunshine, deal?

@justkeepswimming8 - that sounds like a really nice rememberance of your friend I would probably go for the Sunday test myself because I'd rather have some space to handle the BFN at home.

I agree with @vflux33 with FB, maybe just don't use it for a while. If you don't want to deactivate it maybe just delete the app? and give yourself a week or so break. Also, to add to the CM discussion, I would be way off on O day if I just went by CM, in fact this cycle I probably would've completely missed my FW if only tracking CM @lund ouch! I'm still a little stuck on "give yourself a Brazilian" I don't think I have the ability to go through with it on my own. @justkeepswimming8 sorry about your loss. glad you got to hear some positive/inspirational things about your friend. @vflux33 I'm with you on the board being slow, but I know I'm also a little at fault. I know several people have dropped off /started just lurking because it got to be overwhelming. I tend to just lurk and not post on the weekends. I also often times think of replying, but then go well maybe I should just google it. That's the complete introvert in me not wanting to be a bother. Also, I don't have any scientific evidence to support or refute the late O & not getting KU, but I am doing everything in my power to not go down that rabbit hole...

@justkeepswimming8 Your reasoning for testing on Sunday makes sense to me. I'm such an enabler though. Also, good to know about the placenta stuff. I should really read those TTC books my midwife recommended. *TW?* She also said I could have a mimosa or glass of wine even if I was a couple weeks KU so it's probably ok * END TW?* Also RE: your pain. Do you have cysts or anything? I pretty much always have a dull pain/pressure during my TWW when I'm not on birth control that doctors are currently just assuming is related to my cysts. Definitely worth speaking to your doctor about. Also, I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were able to have good healing time with his wife.
@vflux33 Whoops! I clearly didn't lurk quite hard enough. I am no help on the late ovulation front. Are you starting your IUI and Chlomid next cycle if this one doesn't work out?
@Avrilmai Welcome to TWW! I like your posts--you could totes post more! I am introverted IRL but not really here. I get what you're saying though. TB being a bit overwhelming was part of why I dropped off in the fall for 5 months, but I'm way more into it now than I was then and don't think I could drop off again like that.
As for the late O thing, I don't think you and @elisek have so much to worry about. IF late O is bad (which we don't even really know yet), I don't think CD 20-25 is that late (that would actually be early for me--I've never had a 28 day cycle). This cycle I O'd on CD 42: that's why I freaked out on the Google/TB searching.
@SkilledSailor Yes! The second I get AF I'm getting my meds called in, etc. and we're all set for Clomid + IUI next cycle. I'm getting my tubes checked then too (most people do that before starting their first treatment cycle, but my RE is weird and said it would help the IUI to work to do it right before. She is also probably making us wait to up her stats and MH is kinda pissed about it but she's the only RE that isn't a long drive away so we're committed).
@elisek and all others who gave advice. Thanks ladies! I'm not even going to pack a test. Finger crossed that keeps my crazy at bay and I just enjoy the trip.
@Avrilmai We leave tomorrow afternoon and land in Milan Friday morning.
@vflux33 That's exciting! Stinks she holding out on the checking your tubes.
Hi! @vflux33 flagged the question about delayed ovulation and I thought I might be able to weigh in.
This is a debate that recurs periodically on TB. There is zero research showing that later ovulation is a problem or makes you less likely to get pregnant. There's comorbidity with other conditions, but the timing itself hasn't been proven to matter. For instance, late ovulation can be caused by PCOS, which decreases your likelihood of getting pregnant and increases your chances of miscarriage, but those outcomes are caused by the PCOS, not the late ovulation.
This idea that the egg ages after it matures sounds like nonsense from what I've read of IVF & ovulation -- eggs don't mature then just hang out there; they mature then you ovulate. Eggs rupture the follicle when they're mature, so I don't understand physically how an egg could fully mature then just chill out there. Rather, follicle studies of later ovulation show the lead follicle being recruited later and maturing later.
I don't know about the lining concerns. I haven't seen that evaluated (proven or disproven). And again there are certainly conditions that cause delayed ovulation that can reduce your likelihood of pregnancy, but I would not worry about delayed ovulation in the absence of other things going on.
Here's another interesting fact -- some people have ovaries that ovulate on different days. A friend of mine has this. One of her ovaries ovulated around day 15 and the other around day 25. It switched back and forth almost every cycle like clockwork. Her doctor said this is a thing that happens sometimes -- your ovaries can be on different schedules. So I really think any timing of ovulation is possible and not a concern. (And, she got pregnant on a cycle with the later ovulation, and is now third tri.)
Thanks for chiming in @adirat! I was finding a lot of things that made me suspect more comorbidity than anything directly causing issues.
and @vflux33 - i totally agree. CD22 is barely late. Of course waiting around is not my favorite, but it's not the same as you lovely ladies who are in mystery-land for weeks. I just love a good rabbit hole!
Me: 28 | H: 29 Married: October 2014 TTC #1 March 2017 Dx: PCOS - March 2018 IUI #1: April 2018 BFN IUI #2: May 2018
@adirat as always, your insight and knowledge is much appreciated. I'm one of those people with O on different days depending on the ovary. CD9 or CD 17-19 depending on the ovary. It is nice to know I'm not a "rare case"
@SesshomaruMom TW not necessary for that R/R. GL to you!

R/R: Just popping in to say I'm still around. I've been on an unplanned kind of hiatus. Since vacation I've been buried at work. It's a really busy time for me. And, I'm struggling with productivity and giving a crap about anything so everything is taking longer than it should. But I'm also feeling kind of adrift and disconnected and generally off. It's like my well is dry right now. I'm just kind of numb and hoping that a new cycle/plan will give me a spark back.

@kiki75 so sorry you're having a rough time I think most of us who have been here a while go through that. Take care of yourself and know that we're always here for you!
@vflux33 part of why I think it's slow is because (tw?) people keep getting KU and bouncing. This is just a theory bc feb 18 just opened today so I don't think all have posted in intro thread yet but enough that I'm fairly confident in my assessment. Can't blame them since that's what I plan to do if I get KU (for different reasons), but it's sort of annoying since there's no explanation for the slow down.
@kiki75 Yay for Fillory! Sorry that you're feeling down...
@vflux33@lund@justkeepswimming8@elisek Thanks for the kind words ladies. RE: Facebook - It's funny, because a) I don't even really like FB all that much, and b) I almost never see announcements on there, but all of a sudden here's a bunch right at the wrong time. I'm thinking that maybe I will take your advice and get off of it. I'm mostly on there to "keep in touch" with college friends, but I never really do, so might as well deactivate. As for O'ing, I hear what you ladies are saying about CM not being reliable. *TW* The last time I got KU I never had EWCM at all, so I know it's not reliable for me. */TW* I did get a BBT a couple of weeks ago, so as soon as AF comes I'm going to start temping. I'm frustrated that we weren't more careful TTA and that I even have to worry about this. I REALLY wanted to just get back to TTC and didn't really communicate well with DH. At any rate, I think it's safe to say that there won't be any BFPs for me this cycle, and I kind of feel relieved that at least I don't have to explain to my doctor why it is that we couldn't follow simple instructions and use protection
I guess you're right. The only ones I saw were newbies so they are just trying to be respectful to the regs. FWIW I think you have been here long enough to go for the grad thread send-off because ppl (like me!) would totally notice you left and would want to wish you luck, but I understand if you feel like that would be uncomfortable for you b/c of prior loss, so do whatever feels right for you, of course.
End TW
@hedgepig Glad to hear you'll be taking a break from Facebook! You won't regret it. And if you do, it will still be there when you're ready to go back also not having to come clean with your doctor about that is always a plus.
@hedgepig I'm sorry, that is really rough. Same thing happened with me with my 2nd loss. The closer the due date gets, the more I feel the need to block them.

I hope if I get KU all of you will too at the same time bc then it won't matter if I bounce. Once I come back you'll all be there!
@skilledsailor - the reason I went on BC when I was 18 was because of cysts. Cysts and some weird pregnancy symptom are my thoughts on this. If AF shows up, I'll make an appointment with my gyno. I hope it's not cysts because it would make this process even more fun...

@hedgepig sorry you had to experience the FB announcements. I agree with @vflux33 with FB, maybe just don't use it for a while. If you don't want to deactivate it maybe just delete the app? and give yourself a week or so break. Also, to add to the CM discussion, I would be way off on O day if I just went by CM, in fact this cycle I probably would've completely missed my FW if only tracking CM
@lund ouch!

Also RE: your pain.
@Avrilmai We leave tomorrow afternoon and land in Milan Friday morning.
@vflux33 That's exciting! Stinks she holding out on the checking your tubes.
(And, she got pregnant on a cycle with the later ovulation, and is now third tri.)
and @vflux33 - i totally agree. CD22 is barely late. Of course waiting around is not my favorite, but it's not the same as you lovely ladies who are in mystery-land for weeks. I just love a good rabbit hole!

GTKY: I would have to say Anita Blake's St. Louis. The series is written by Laurell K. Hamilton. Supernatural steamy romance.
@lund Holy Cow! Hope your undercarriage heals up soon.
@vflux33 I don't know anything about the late O and KU correlation. Hmm.

@vflux33 @lund @justkeepswimming8 @elisek Thanks for the kind words ladies.
@SesshomaruMom mom FX for you this cycle!
@adirat Thanks for chiming in. Even though it doesn't apply to me, I think that the science of all of this is so interesting!
@lund Oooh, so sorry about the waxing mishap. You're so brave for waxing down there! I did my legs once and vowed never again.
@vflux33 Sorry about the annoying and confusing O situation. I still have my FX that your new timing worked this cycle!

And if you do, it will still be there when you're ready to go back
