I am so thankful to be a SAHM. I left the workforce when we had DD because I was only going to bring home.$500/month after daycare and that wasn't worth it to us. My DH routinely works 80-100 hours a week so staying home makes life better for the whole family for us.
I hate seeing so many of you who will be forced to go back to work after such a short time. You aren't even fully recovered after 6 weeks! Ugh.

I went back at six weeks with my son and completely agree with you. For me it was more of a mental recovery than physical, but it was hard to switch up the routine just as I had finally gotten the hang of having a little one at home. This time I will be able to extend up to 8 weeks paid at 100% so that is better than last time. BTW in case people weren't aware, being from Wisconsin is awesome .
Teacher in MA here I can take 12 weeks and 14 for a c-section. I need to use my sick days to get paid though. Unfortunately I only have enough left to cover 8 weeks since I was just on maternity leave last year. lucikly though February and April vacation will fall during my leavevand those are paid anyways.
I'm from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Would love a Canada Mom's checking as well. I'm so grateful to live in this Amazing country with amazing health care.
@JuliaGoolia719 I grew up in NW Kansas in a farm town. The bulk of my family still lives there, but I hardly visit. Maybe every 2 years or so. There's no easy way to get there. Long flight into Denver and a 4 hour drive.
Have you always lived in the KC area? I've spent a lot of time there too just from being close during college and having friends there. It feels like home.
I'm a teacher and will be taking 12 months off. As far as I know the mat leave pay is about 70% (but I'm attending a workshop in the fall to find out the details - depends on the union agreements)
Another teacher here! I'll be paid for 6 weeks (using short term disability) and am guaranteed my job back the following school year - so I technically could take from January-June, but that would be a LOT of unpaid time....which we can't afford.
@jakobaby I have been in KC my whole life, lots of travel around the world but KC has always been home. It's a pretty decent place to be from overall lol.
