Took DS in for a one week weight check to see if he has met his birth weight. Well, he gained 15 ounces in the past week. I knew the kid liked to eat but I wasn't expecting that!
Went in today at 40w4d, she said I'm now 2cm and 80% effaced! Progress. Did another sweep- much more vigorous and painful this time. Hopefully it will work, but if not I wanted to be induced on Thursday, but the doctor said they were booked for inductions all week AND through Tuesday! I almost started crying. Luckily she had a backup plan, but we didn't need it as a spot opened up- Hallelujah! I'm going in tomorrow night to get started on Cervidil, then will probably deliver on Wednesday. I'm so relieved and excited!!! For those who have been induced this way- any tips or advise on what to expect?
Had Louis' 2 week weight check today and he has passed birth weight! I was nervous because DS1 had issues with not gaining weight. He has to go in for more blood work though Not looking forward to that. They want to check his bilirubin and platelets again.
That meme is all me today. It is 10:40 and still waiting... I'm a 10 appt. FX he has gained weight and jaundice is continuing to improve. To me, yes to both but let's see what the pediatrician says. Also, gonna ask she check for tongue tie just in case...
I'll double post again! Had my 40.5 appt this am and was 2cm (forgot to ask about effacement). She did strip membranes and set induction for 5am Thurs! She's going to break water and give me like 3-4hrs to start contracting before she adds pitocin.

Hooray for passing birth weight! I'm sorry he needs more blood work. FX it all comes back good!
Yaye! We're right there with you @Louise_Belcher. Rowan had passed his birth weight too. His jaundice has definitely improved and is only chest up now! And no tongue tie.
Whew! Excellent check up. Now, I just wanna sleep for like 4 hours straight, lol. That's not asking too much, right?

We had a weight check appt today too, and I had reflux concerns to chat about. I asked the doc to please check for a tongue tie also b/c of worsening latch issues. He saw no specific evidence for tongue, BUT saw a slight lip tightness, and said he'd give an ENT referral. (*TW*) When we talked about an LC consult, he said I need to be aware of the cultural differences between LC and medical sides re: willingness to immediately go down the road of snipping. (That makes me cringe a bit.) (*END*) So I might seek an LC for the latch/pain issues. He suggested the boy's too young to be put on systemic reflux medication at this point, and to give it time to resolve itself. I agreed to give it a few weeks trial but my other son's diagnosis was delayed and if I can curtail some months of discomfort for this one, then I'll push harder at the next appt. Here's hoping that time helps.
We have a weight check Wednesday. Hoping she's well past birth weight. I'm still having issues with pain in just my left nipple so I don't think it's her mouth it's probably a lazy latch practice since she's so great on the right. The pain over there is really beginning to bum me out though.
@skzw What did they consider too young for meds? DS is 2 wks old and we got a script for reflux meds today. Dr said it was a very clear case. She also mentioned that if an older sibling has reflux, it's almost certain that the younger one will have it.
Our dr is normally a little crunchy for my taste and said she usually likes to try the elimination diet for bf'ing moms first. But she said since DS was showing symptoms so young, she was fine with meds.
@Yiggle09: The pain is no joke. I'm sorry you have to deal with that! It was suggested to me to try different positions to deal with latch/pain problems---maybe you want to try too? Cradle hold, football/side body hold, laying down on your side with baby under the boob...
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot: Hi there! That's interesting. My older son had infant reflux too, which is why it popped into my head when this one started doing the pulling away and screaming during feedings thing.
Not sure if my crabby attitude today is playing a part of this, but I left my appointment today very frustrated. I believe it was at my appointment a couple weeks ago I was told I wouldn't go past 41 weeks, then today I'm told that if I'm still pregnant, I'll be induced at 42 weeks. Then while scheduling for my next appointment and NST and AFI testing, the gal didn't tell me what she was doing so I asked and she said NST and doctor appointment. Well now I'm confused because the doctor said something about an ultrasound so I asked and she said she didn't see it there but would schedule it anyways...Yeah, why don't you listen to the confused patient instead of asking the nurse to double check. So she scheduled me for all three, but they are so spread out that I'll be there from afternoon to evening next week and I'm not even sure it's correct. I guess this is what I get for being like "No baby! Don't come until next week!"
Had my 39 week appointment yesterday, went pretty smoothly. I'm dilated to 4cm and the OB I saw this time thinks I should have a baby by Wednesday, but I'm not holding my breath. I feel like this child is rooted in there pretty good and doesn't want to leave any time soon. ALao found out they won't let me go past 41weeks so that gives me hope
@NotAPlaya-JustCrushAlot - Can you speak a little to the symptoms of reflux? I'm not sure we have it, but I'd like to know what to look out for.
DS has silent reflux, so he doesn't spit up much. He gets super cranky 5-10 mins after a feeding. He'll stretch out his whole body and arch his back. He also will eat a bunch and then, while he's cranky, start rooting to eat more because the BM makes him feel a little better momentarily. He has a little dry cough. When he's sleeping he'll make a sort of sour gagging face like "what the hell is in my mouth?" I can also hear him swallowing stuff when he's not eating. His eyes keep getting green gunk, which the pediatrician said happens when their tear ducts are swollen and/or blocked. She said some kids get really congested in their nose.
