Re: Weekly Symptoms Thread: 5/20-5/26

  • Why is everyone in my family (I'm looking at you DH and mom!) not bending over backwards to make sure I get 3+ straight hours of darkness and silence a day on the weekends to nap?!?!

Also, not joking at all, my mom touched my GUT today and said, "omg you are showing!" Mom... you had three children. You sure as s@*t know this isn't the one centimeter baby showing. Just, no.

  • I'm mostly feeling tired. Very sensitive nipples, leading to a nursing aversion. Fairly mild nausea. So far, this pregnancy has been really different symptoms wise than my pregnancy with DD - which of course is freaking me out!

@mamakassie2 - I'm having super vivid and scary dreams as well!

@mcrosie - so far the smell of our fridge is driving me crazy! There are just too many smells in there lol

@EmilyLove25 - my Mom did the same thing the other day...I was like "yeah...no....just bloat" lol
  • So far I've had the bloating and some sore breasts (fun side note with my last pregnancy my MILs first words to me were "are your breasts tender?" No congrats, just straight to invasive, but that's who she is, super excited about it though. This time was how many periods have you missed?).
I feel like none of my pants fit anymore, my DH has been making fun of me for unbuttoning in the car and sitting around at home. I'm actually sitting under a blanket right now despite the heat so he can't see that I'm totally unzipped.
Last pregnancy I didn't get any morning sickness until the 2nd tri, and then it was mostly aversion to waffles and pre-natals. Like just thinking about them had me puking my guts out. Had to hide the pill bottle for the remainder and completely change frozen waffle brands.
Hoping this one goes fairly smoothly again.
  • @michwich-2 I was having calf pains last week. Knock on wood it's over.

@mcrosie I too have been having diarrhea on and off. I even took some Imodium today with little help. Did switching prenatal solve the problem for you?
  • mcrosiemcrosie member
@burnsmommy27 - it does seem to have helped! I had been taking the Costco one (NatureMade).
  • *Sorry I missed the weekend* Swamped with Baseball and yard work! But...we got a grill so this girl got her red meat and squash last night! Not many more symptoms than last week. Mild cramping, sore boobs and I want to eat like every 4 hours. Right on the money.

  • The nausea has come for me. If I'm hungry, I'm also nauseous. When I've eaten, I've got that weird "I can feel all the food swimming in my stomach" nausea. It's all fairly mild, but it's not particularly enjoyable.

Also fatigue. I slept for two hours on the couch yesterday afternoon and was ready to climb right back into bed at 9PM. This week I'm starting with getting up at 5AM and it is not fun.
  • My boobs are out of control. They were large to begin with so they don't look any bigger to me, but DH says they feel bigger- that is, when he's able to touch them. I have to sleep in my comfiest bra now, and I have to actually hold them when I go up and down stairs. And the nips make me gasp if they get grazed at all. Yikes!
I'm super forgetful and clumsy, moreso than usual.
Still exhausted, and we were super busy this weekend so I slept like the dead last night, which was amazing. We used to snuggle and watch a show before bed but I can't stay awake through anything. :/
Still no nausea, but I've heard 6 weeks is when that really can kick in, so we'll see?

I've been MIA this weekend (why is it that I'm most active while I'm supposed to be working??), but I'm standing (or lying on my couch) in solidarity with you ladies. Early pregnancy is no joke, I tell ya!
I was craving scrambled eggs on Saturday morning. So, I whipped up a batch, and decided to add an inordinate amount of cheese. I dumped almost an entire bag on top, and gleefully watched it melt. Then the smell hit me. Moldy, melting cheese. Needless to say, I didn't have eggs that morning, and I had a date with my toilet. All of the smells are causing me to live with my head in the toilet these days. Rotisserie chicken? Barf. My husband's lunch meat? Barf. Just the smell of my prenatals? Barf.
It has been a fun weekend. And I'm still pissed about the cheese. I JUST bought it two weeks ago, and it was supposed to be good until August...
  • I just spoke to the nurse about some medication for nausea.  I told her I was looking into unisom and b6 and she was like why don't we just get you a script for Zofran?  I thought they weren't doing that anymore. She said she would talk to my midwife and get back to me.
  • Yesterday it seemed like the few symptoms I did have vanished and I basically gave myself a panic attack worrying about it but today is mostly back to normal. Still waking up in the middle of the night, still exhausted during the day, light cramping during the day seems to have returned, and slight nipple sensitivity has returned. I was super nauseated most of Saturday but not at all yesterday. I've had a couple of gag moments at work today though and almost puked when I was brushing my teeth.
  • @gusgus14 OMG I am with you. On Saturday I felt like my symptoms had vanished for a few hours and was panicked. They are back. I just threw up IN my office (did not make it to the bathroom). I'm torn between wanting symptoms for reassurance and not wanting them because ughhh this is miserable, lol!

  • Anyone have any mild spotting? I've had a small amount of spotting today so of course all spare time at work was spent on googling spotting and for the most part sounds normal. At what point should I call my doctor? Taking it easy tonight and hoping it goes away. Ill be 7 weeks tomorrow.

  • @EmilyLove25 - Glad to know I'm not alone! Thankfully I haven't thrown up yet but I start feeling sick when I think about most foods and then I seriously had to prepare myself to brush my tongue this morning because by that time I was on the verge!

Spotting can be totally normal - lots of things can irritate the cervix including sex or bowel movements, and sometimes spotting just happens for no particular reason. Drink plenty of water, put your feet up, and rest as much as you can. Call your doctor if it picks up to red bleeding or if you have a lot of cramping, too.

I always call my doctor no matter what when it comes to spotting.  That way they can decide if they need to see me, or just reassure me.

ETA: It is generally a completely normal thing and not anything to be concerned about, but I leave those kind of judgement calls to the Dr's.  This being said, I had spotting all during week 5 this time and last pregnancy spotted a few times during my first and second trimester with no adverse issues.
  • I have just been exhausted - no amount of sleep can help it. I do have nausea in the morning if I do not eat immediately and when there are extreme smells. I have a major food adversion to eggs - yuck, and I used to love them.

@gusgus14 I understand the freak out moments - I will admit that I randomly push my boobs and see if they are still sore throughout the day. Like ok, you hurt and that's good.

  • Nausea has set in as a constant. Fairly mild for the most part, eating doesn't affect it at all, but it's not a pleasant feeling. Also today, I was making chicken soup from scratch, and when the time came to shred the chicken, the smell of it hit me so hard i had to run out of the room gagging and made DH finish the task for me. Ugh, that almost made me sick! Have a general mild aversion to all food, so i've been trying to figure out snacks that are high in protein and all the good stuff since i'm quite sure i'm not getting all the calories/nutrients i'm probably needing at the moment...  Major tiredness...2-3 hour daily naps, and still ready for bed at 9 and sleeping in until 9 or 10.

  • @miranda21037 I had spotting with both of my previous pregnancies and it never turned into anything. My first I spotted for days around 7-8 weeks. And I even had a slight break in my symptoms then. But they came back! Both of my previous pregnancies were healthy and without event despite spotting.

@caseyw8784 misery loves company! I type this as I wear these sea bands on my wrist. I just sent my H to the store for sprite, stat! I spend most of the day complaining in my mind about feeling bad and fearing how much worse it will get. Looking forward to second tri already!
  • This weekend I feel like I'm doing pretty good with just sore boobs & fatigue... so of course today I'm like a f'in Pepto Bismol commercial:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XghJuH6GSCo

@hunt_adventure_society - Omg the boobs.  I legitimately think my DH is super sad that I don't want him to touch them at all.  Like for real, don't even think about looking at them.  Just don't.  Sooooo sensitive.  Sooooo tender.

@ionlyeatcandy - How many periods does she think you should have missed?  She does know that after you've ovulated and become pregnant that you really only have missed one, irregardless of how long it's been since your last one, right?

SO BLOATED Constipated, tired, crampy and my c section scar burns once in a while. I'm only 5w1d, any one else experience that with a previous c section?
  • KatieElKatieEl member
@agalvarado I didn't have a c-sec, so I can't speak to it personally, but one of my best friends did and she complained about the exact same thing on her last pregnancy. I know she got it checked out by her OB for peace of mind, and they told her it was pretty normal. Hopefully some other c-section mamas can weigh in too!

  • Good morning everyone. The nausea is so bad today! Already cried a little wondering how I'm going to make it through the work day.

@mamakassie2 and others - I've been having super vivid dreams as well! My strangest one yet was saving AJ from the Backstreet Boys from getting a lobotomy... like what?!

sending everyone good thoughts and wishes for a symptom-free day!
  • @Tesskorb Hugs!  I was just where you are today yesterday. I cried at work (with my door shut) because I didn't know how I was going to do anything. I cried at night thinking I couldn't sleep either... but then I slept through the night and so far today is much better! There is a light for you! Some days are just worse than others!

  • I was cooking pot roast in the crock pot last night for supper and preparing meat, spices, sauce and noodles for tonight for homemade lasagna...I all but fainted in the kitchen from the smells. My stomach was twisting and I thought I was going to vomit but I'm just straight up constipated. This morning I wake up and the smells just hit all at once. I couldn't WAIT to get out of the house and to work. Awful right? I have zero energy. Once I work a 10 hr shift, I'm done. Exhausted. I just want to lay down.

  • @agalvarado I had a csection and am experiencing a very similar burning/pain around my scar from time to time. I was going to ask my doctor about it but from what I've read it's normal

@miranda21037 I recently had spotting for 4 days or so with mild cramping (which I have had intermittently throughout the pregnancy) and due to anxiety and worry I Ended up calling my doctor. They had me come in that day (as opposed to waiting a week for our original appointment) and did an ultrasound and we got reassurance that everything was fine. It seemed like spotting is a totally normal thing in most cases,  but if you are at all worried I would just call your doctor and they can either see you or reassure you ☺
  • The nausea is really ramping up. I spent probably a good half hour lying on the bathroom floor last night and had a really hard time going to sleep. I'm so not wanting to go into work tonight.
  • @cbrennan04 Thank you. Reading this helps a lot. I took it easy last night and worked on my butt shaped mold in the couch. Havent had any more spotting so maybe I just over did it a bit by working on Sunday.

  • My symptoms have been mild but flucuate. Makes me crazy! Tender boobs, fatigue, no appetite because food doesn't sound good, sensitive nose, moodiness, congestion...I think thats it but the flucuation is making me crazy!
  • @debrum524 @KatieEl thank you, I have an appointment today so I'll mention it to my doctor!
  • Ugh today was the first morning that my nausea has turned into vomiting. So naturally I cried and laid on the couch all morning. Thank goodness DS has been really good at entertaining himself. I feel so bad not giving him the attention he needs.  But I swear he knows.  He keeps coming over to me and laying his head on me saying awww. But I've definitely been napping with him every chance I get.

With MS, I keep reading suggestions to eat bland food.  But yesterday and today, I've had the most relief after eating something kind of heavy, with a solid portion of red meat.

Like really... pizza and a steak burrito are not bland. Is it weird that they seemed to help?  As in, maybe protein matters more than blandness?

  • @KLake42 for me the bland foods make me gag. I feel the best after high protein.  Which feels weird when I eat sweet and sour chicken for breakfast.
