Since we're due at the start of the new year, let's do a GTKY:
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?

Re: GTKY: all about births
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? That thought has crossed my mind but I need to check with my insurance company to see what happens if I'm in the hospital over the new year (as in delivery at 38w - Late Dec - and be an inpatient as Jan 2018 starts. I know we wait until the new year, my deductibles reset, but we have pretty low deductibles, thankfully.
ETA: I'm not sure how I feel about my J13 and this one having to share birthday months. It could be a special bond, but I also don't want my then 5 year old to feel slighted.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I'm not sure when my OB schedule rcs for if you've had 2 previous ones. There's research showing if you've had 2 previous, that you should have your rcs at 38w and if you've had 3 rcs, you should have it at 37w.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? I worry about that a little. I'm the south we don't get much icey weather, but when we do it shuts the whole affected area down! A friend delivered in a hospital (barely) but had to be transported by firefighters using a borrowed 4 wheeler to get her there!

1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care? EDD is 1/8/18, and I'm hoping to go early because I'd love a late December baby.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? I have a November baby and a January baby currently, and I'd love this one to have their own month too. Also with high deductible insurance, it would be nice to not reset the premiums.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? I'm planning an unmedicated home birth.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? I did worry about not making it to the hospital because I have a history of precipitous labor--I almost didn't make it last time--which is why we're planning a home birth for this baby. I'm really lucky to have an amazing registered nurse midwife who practices in our community who EVERY medical professional respects highly, so I know I'm in good hands. (DS1 and DS2 were both unmedicated hospital births with midwife practices.)

12/30/17, based on LMP.
I haven't had my dating ultrasound yet, so I don't quite know what my exact due date is yet!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
For tax purposes, DH really wants this baby to come in December. I would love that too, but for different reasons. DD is a Jan16 baby, so like @KatieEl, I would love for this baby to have his/her own birthday month.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Hospital birth. I had an epidural with DD, but I would love to learn some breathing/hypno techniques to avoid one this time around. Although, I have a VERY low pain tolerance, and I get out of control when I'm in pain, so if I need one, I'm not going to beat myself up about it.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? It would be nice to avoid resetting premiums
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? My goal is an unmedicated VBAC using Hypnobabies. However, I may end up with an RCS if this baby is breech too.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? I'm in SC, so weather in December is usually mild. However, if for some reason there is inclement weather, everything shuts down and people CANNOT drive. DD came so quickly last time that I'd be worried about not making it.

1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care? Per my "flo" ap my EDD is January 13th. I might be a bit later just based on my own observations about the timing of things. I'd honestly love to give birth on the 12th (exactly 1 month before DD's birthday, just 2 years later). Frankly, I just don't want to be as late as I was with DD-11 days and no signs equaled an induction last time.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? Like previous posters, I'd like this LO to have his or her own month, so I'm hoping for a January date (December would be ok if it was safe for the baby to be that early).
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? I will likely be an RCS, but that's TBD for sure. I'm sure we will discuss it at my first appointment on Thursday, and honestly it would be my preference, but we'll see what happens.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Slightly, I live in the Kansas City metro. The past couple years we haven't really had much of what one could call a "winter" of any significance. I do have the sort of luck that means we'll probably be walloped with a massive storm close to my due date. But I do have to give credit to our cities and county governments, they don't mess around when it comes to keep the roads clear. So I'm not too worried about it.

1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
My due date is January 16, and as long as baby is full-term, I don't care if I'm early or late. My first baby was born at 42 weeks, and going late wasn't the end of the world. Although we wouldn't mind going a little early and getting a Sagittarius baby! We're both fire signs, so we get along very well with other fire signs.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
Not applicable.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I just want both of us to go home alive. Other than that, I don't care! My first baby was born by emergency C-section because of a placental abruption. This baby is due 18 months after our first was born. My doctor says I can try for a VBAC if ultrasounds show that my uterus healed well and isn't at risk of rupturing during labor. So until we determine what's going on in there, I'm not making any delivery plans.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
No, we live in a fairly warm climate, and it hardly ever snows or gets icy anymore the way it did in the '90s. Global warming is real!
Edd- Jan 22. My first was born at 39.1, second at 38.5, third at 40.5. I don't have a preference, but I imagine this one will more t ha likely be around 39 weeks.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
N/A
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Vbac (this will be my third). Hoping to primarily labor at home and have minimal intervention.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will Jan?
Not really. The hospital is only 1.5 miles away and it's been unseasonably warm on the birth dates of my 3 other winter babies.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? I'm not too concerned about insurance reasons as we have a fairly low deductible. Actually, I'm planning on putting some money in my 2018 FSA account to help cover the cost of delivery and I did the same for 2017 to help with health care expenses. As for tax reasons, a December baby would be nice. BUT my real reason is sentimental. DH and I started dating in December and we got engaged in December. Sadly, December was an inconvenient time to get married, so we chose June. But I'd love to have a December baby as it would be around the 5 year mark of us being together.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Hospital Birth, most likely with an epidural. I'm honestly way to nervous to consider going natural.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
We live in Ohio, and the winter's the last few years have been very mild. It would just be my luck if this year the winter we get hit with several snow storms.
@missblaze I went 38w1d with DS1 and was convinced I'd be early again, I ended up 40w3d with DS2 and the wait was interminable!

Baby #4 on the way!
-January 12th is my EDD. The 10th is my Bday, the 12th is my dad's Bday, and DH's is December 20th so baby can come whenever!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
-The women in my family usually give birth early, but this isn't really applicable to me due to public healthcare in Canada.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
-Hospital birth, hoping to go natural! I have a high pain tolerance but this is our first baby! What happens happens, I won't be too upset if I end up getting an epidural.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
-We only live about 3 or 4 miles from the hospital, but we get some crazy winter storms here in Canada! We have snow tires and 4WD/AWD so i'm not too concerned!

2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? I'd ideally hit the sweet spot of December 27th - 31st (for tax reasons, to miss Christmas but still be in the celebration mode of the holidays) but as long as the baby is healthy and safe, I don't care as long as it's not Christmas day. I really really really don't want my child to have a Christmas day birthday.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? As romantic as the idea of a natural birth is, my guess is that I will be very happy to have an epidural.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Nope. I live in California, the worst we'll have is heavy rain and soon we will live close enough to the hospital that we can take side roads to get there and avoid crazy freeway drivers (Californians forget how to drive in the rain). I worry more about traffic than anything else.

Based on LMP my EDD is Jan 10, but adjusted to my cycle length I believe it will be closer to Jan 17. I'd prefer to go on time to slightly early, DS was born at 41 weeks and that last week was miserable.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
It would be great to not have to pay deductibles again, but I'd rather have a healthy full term baby.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
I had an epidural last time (and it was amazing). This time I still plan on getting one, but want to try to progress further first. I plan on switching to a midwife for this pregnancy too, as I was less than amused with some of the things the dr who delivered DS did.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
It does get pretty snowy where I live, but they usually do a pretty good job maintaining the roads. Plus my 1st wasn't in a hurry to come out, so I'm not too concerned.
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? I don't really care.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? I was nearly on my due date with DD (2 days early), so I expect about the same this time. My water broke at home but I wasn't really contracting even when I got to the hospital, so I had Pitocin and went fast. I made it to 10cm naturally (not by choice) then elected to have a spinal because everything was so intense (Pitocin is no joke). I delivered vaginally with no problem...I think I could do natural without the Pitocin, but will probably elect for an epidural (and hope I get it earlier in the process
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? Some but I figure that's what 911 is for. I live in a suburban area.

3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Hospital birth with epidural please! However, I was induced due to hypertension with DD around 39 weeks, so not sure if I'll be dealing with that again with this one. I hope to deliver naturally instead of my body being forced to kick into gear.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
Due date is Jan 10. I had DS at 41 weeks and I'd like to not go that long again so early sounds great to me!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
Not having to pay 2 deductibles would be nice as mine is $4,000
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
My plan last time was to go natural, however, I had to be induced and the Pitocin contractions were terrible and I had a long labor so I ended up getting an epidural. I'd love to go natural if *fingers crossed* I don't have to be induced this time around- Pitocin is no joke!
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
I live in Texas so this is usually not an issue. However, there has been a few ice storms where roads get pretty icy and driving is dangerous so hopefully that does not happen. This winter was super mild which will make for a very hot summer so I'm expecting the winter time this yr to be fairly mild again
Oh I love this one! As @KatieEl said, I could talk about birth stories and birthing plans FOREVER.
And @KatieEl A home birth? How exciting! I hope you get to experience it with this one!
@darkrose88 My mom was five days early with me; my doctor told me that was the best/only predictor of when I’ll go, and guess what? DD was born five days early! And I’m in Ohio too!
1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care? Right now my tentative due date is January 3rd and I always hope to go exactly when expected. The longer the baby stays in the better (fast forward to when I am 38 weeks and I’ll be singing a different tune… but really, pregnancy is such a special time in your life. You are bonding with that baby every second of every day and night, and I want that to last as long as it should).
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc? N/A although a January 1st baby would be fun in a way.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w? Vaginal, I hope. I did last time, but after 37 hours of labor, the doctor did use forceps. She’s my hero. God I hope she delivers this baby too! I would love to say without meds, but… that probably won’t happen. Like @cyanope I found out during my labor with DD that I have a low pain tolerance too lol. Also, jealous of SD weather.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan? OMG I had not thought about this! I work one hour away from my hospital too, so as soon as I am 37 weeks, I may just ask to “work” from home!

Third vaginal birth with an epi!
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Possibly! This is a real concern of mine. We live in Utah so it just depends! The hospital is about 15 minutes away in good weather so hopefully it will be no issue! ❄️
Jan 12th and I... don't care. DS was 5 days "late". The waiting was excruciating, but this time I have my son for distraction. Although a few days early and I'll have baby on my b-day, which would be fun!
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
I prefer as far from Dec as possible actually. We have lots of Dec bdays in our family.
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Vaginally, Unmedicated (last time the epi didn't take and they did TWO, plus I was on pitocin. Pitocin contrax with no pain relief will NOT happen again)
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
Nah. Last labor was 24 hours and we aren't that far from the hospital.

1. What is your EDD and do you hope to go early, late, right on that date, or don't care?
EDD is 1/2 so if we go a few days early and don't have to pay 2 out of pocket maximums I'd be cool with that....
2. If you want to go early, is it due to insurance reasons (avoid resetting your premiums), tax purposes, want a late Dec baby or an early Feb instead, etc?
insurance and tax purposes, but I'll just be thrilled we have a kid so I'm sure it'll be fine either way!
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
hospital, and I'm sure I'll have an epidural, I like the idea of an unmedicated birth where I can be mobile if I want etc, but I know my limits and if this takes very long I may require drugs
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
The KC area winters tend to get the worst at the end of Jan and into Feb (or maybe that's just when I'm over it and start to get annoyed lol) but I think we'll be fine. Assuming of course that they aren't jacking with all the highways still, I'm more worried about construction getting in the way than snow/ice!
@Shanski70 I'm in the KC metro too!

Haven't had my dating ultrasound sound, but I'm guessing around Jan. 7. I really wanted a Christmas baby (I was ttc for that previous cycle for an early Dec. due date). Obviously I want little bit to cook as long as they need to!
3. How do you plan to deliver? If rcs, does your office typically schedule at 39w or 38w?
Hopefully labor starts naturally (had pitocin with DS and was not a fan). I'll use breathing exercises, mediation, and probably a shot of a narcotic for pain relief. It worked great for me last time.
4. Do you worry about not making it to the hospital on time due to snow/ice since it will be Jan?
LOL I live in the South. I'm more concerned about overpacking my hospital bag to accommodate warm and cold weather clothes for me and baby.

@cyanope Wow! You made it to a 6! I sort of have the opposite reason for you for “caving” for the epidural. My labor was 37 hours, ugh, so I just couldn’t after 24 hours… though to be honest, when my first contraction hit—one of the “mini” early ones—I was like, “OMG what the hell was that??!?!?!?!” Super low pain tolerance… which is hilarious because I run marathons but I guess leg pain is a-okay with me.
@Eags Giant baby here too! I even had the weird semi-drug they give you that makes you loopy during my first 12 hours. Honestly, if I have a long labor again I might ask for it. I don’t drink or do drugs in real life, so it was fun to have a justified reason to be semi high lol.
@richael23 When it is December, consider me jealous of your location!
@schaze Your labor sounds similar to mine! I got the epi after 24 hours and I think mostly because of the Pitocin/I’m a wuss.

Do you worry about not making it to the hospital? The thought hadn't crossed my mind until right now, but yes. Winter gets nasty in Nebraska and our closest hospital that has a maternity floor is 30 minutes away.
