Questions and Concerns: Week of 5/14-5/20

Re: Questions and Concerns: Week of 5/14-5/20

  • @schaze @acunamatada I called my doctor yesterday and she does seem to think it's just the uterus expanding and ligaments stretching. Thankfully she said I can take Tylenol pretty consistently without fear of hurting the baby, and she brought me in for bloodwork to see where my HCG levels are, instead of making me wait until my 7 wk appt! Waiting for the call with the results, and praying they only have good news. :)
I'm tall but have a pretty narrow frame, so I wonder if it just hurts more because it needs to stretch a lot? So wild! But every ache and pain is a reminder that THIS IS REAL! <3

  • whats everyone using for a face wash/moisturizer/sunscreen? Driving myself crazy researching ingredients
  • Where does everyone stand on CM? I'm having quite a bit... watery somewhat creamy. I can't remember with DD what I had. I'm a nervous disaster (it's literally hilarious that I'm expected to function in any capacity today aside from being a mom) but am figuring if it is white or clear, I'm good...

@Shanski70  I don’t have much advice but first, your job sounds interesting, and second, always speak up for yourself to HR or what not if you ever think your concerns are not being met. Pregnancy and motherhood are no joke and companies who mess with women/play games with them run a huge risk of public backlash. I agree with @KatieEl  that I would go ahead with your initial plan to try to back out of the August assignment. And I am doing half unpaid time off here (I get six weeks paid and don’t need to use vacation time for it). Heck, depending on other factors, I might take the whole six months of unpaid time off that they are required to offer!

@KatieEl I honestly admire you so much for waiting until the A/S… I just cannot. You always can go to an elective place and pay only $50-100 and get little perks too—lots of printed out pictures and gadgets. I love those places. Having said that, if you are calmer without them, you go mama!

@caeilievalor I bet bad dreams are related to stress and all of the intense emotions… and deep sleep. The weed one made me laugh. Honestly, if all he did was blow weed smoke in your face, it would be annoying, but you would be fine!

@zamora_spin  I did not do beta testing with DD or this one. Also I am OCD with testing and looking for line progression. Wondfos are not great for it, especially day by day. First Response is better and also really you should only look for changes every two to three days. Be warned about the hook effect if you test past 5.5 weeks. If it will put your mind at ease to get betas, seriously do it!

@huntadventuresociety-2 I’m having a bit of it, especially after sitting for a long time (I have a long drive home from work and always feel it then). Glad your doctor was reassuring!

  • @EmilyLove25, I decided to do the betas and had my first draw this morning. I just don't think I'll be able to relax and be excited until I get those results. The Wondfos are now getting a bit darker but I know that is not a science given the different dye lots.

@huntadventuresociety-2 I'm sorry you're having so much pain, I hope it subsides for you!
  • @zamora_spin Awesome! I am glad you did it! I am a big believer in doing whatever it takes to help you relax in these early weeks!

  • Yes, @madcouplewithabox! I have a horrible headache and feel like I haven't slept at all. It sucks, but I'm glad it's not just me. It's making me feel pretty worthless all morning, but I guess I prefer it to the run of the mill nausea and morning sickness of my first pregnancy.

  • What's the difference in accuracy between using ovulation to determine your due date as opposed to the first day of your last period?
My ticker says I'm 4 weeks 3 days and I'm due January 20th, but when I calculate based on ovulation, it says I'm 5 weeks and due January 16th!

If you know ovulation/when you conceived that's the date you'd go by! Last period is a little more general for an "average" cycle for a woman but everyone is different!
  • I personally hate that I worry so much about miscarriage. This wasn't a planned baby but a loved one nonetheless and now I've found myself worrying that something will go wrong. I remember feeling this same way with both of my previous pregnancies and they turned out perfectly. So I have no history or reason to worry. I know nothing but time will prove to me that it's all fine but I'm still worried!

  • I started spotting this evening. It was pink at first and now it's bright red, not a lot but definitely getting darker. I don't know if I over did it the past couple days or what.  I'm 7 weeks today according to my LMP. I'm going to bed now & will try to get in to see my OB tomorrow. I also ran my phone over with my SUV this afternoon, so today has gone well :s

  • @KatieEl, I likely won't have one before 20 weeks.   My office typically doesn't do dating ultrasounds unless you have abnormal cycles or something of the sort.  I haven't even called the OB's office yet to set up a first appointment
  • @varroyo811 lots of positives that everything is ok!

  • @EmilyLove25 I'm also having watery discharge. Freaks me out, I'm constanting my underwear for spotting!

@akingmomma this one wasn't planned either, and I also have no history but I'm still worried. Hopefully we both can relax soon!

  • I know this might be too much TMI for a first time post, but I'm having really bad bouts of diarrhea. My stomach was sensitive before pregnancy (pretty much my whole life) so I'm thinking this isn't a shocker. It comes and goes but when it comes it is really really bad. Does anyone have this as well? Or any suggestions on how to stop it? Sorry to gross anyone out.

@babystone1018 I don't have a quick fix for diarrhea, but I recommend eating a lot of whole foods and drinking enough water (so you don't get dehydrated!)

  • @babystone1018 I don't really have suggestions but know you are not suffering alone! Sometimes I think well, at least it is better than being constipated... I know on the December 2017 board, lots of ladies were talking about having it!

@babystone1018 I have IBS and so I battle with diarrhea and constipation regularly. I take a probiotic and magnesium and calcium daily which works well for me and it's been holding up pretty well so far. My OBGYN told me it was safe too. If nothing else,  I'd consider adding the daily probiotic

@babystone1018 I was having diarrhea as well. I switched my prenatal vitamin and that has made a big difference so far. I used the previous prenatal vitamin last pregnancy and was fine. I guess this time around my body didn't like it. I've read some prenatal vitamins contain slight laxatives to counteract the effects of Iron. No good!
  • @babystone1018 I had it so bad right before I took a test. I thought it was just something I ate but it lasted a few days along with terrible gas. I knew I was preggo. Lots of water helped
  • @babystone1018 I've had the diarrhea as well. Trust me-so much better than the constipation I had with DS.

@amack22 I had the same scenario. Day before I tested I was running to the toilet all day long with the runs. I thought, I'm either pregnant or sick!

@huntadventuresociety-2 Hand raised here for the random back pain. I didn't have this with DS but I did have major back labor. I'm thinking it's the hormones and the nerves. I also notice that if I am more stressed or anxious these days, I feel it in my low back. The first time this happened I was really worried because it was the day after BFP, but we were also rushing to a flight that day and travel can be stressful. Next time it happens, see if you can sit down and relax for awhile (including your mind).

amack22  I use Alba and Acure.
I had my levels checked today - I am 4 weeks exactly today.
    HCG 5/15 was 216 and 5/17 is 460
    Estrogen 5/17 is 378
Progesterone 5/17 is 12.5 and doc wants it to be 13 or higher.

I am going on Progesterone suppositories - anyone have any experience with those?

  • Is anyone else just NOT hungry? Like, not nauseous (though the thought of certain foods is unappealing!) but just not hungry and needing to force myself to eat?
  • @caseyw8784 Yes, you are not alone, several days this week I have not had much appetite. I have lost about 1.5 pounds in one week and have started counting my calories just to try to make sure I am eating to maintain. I think in my case it may just be stress/anxiety though.
  • @babystone1018 Yep! I had that issue in my 4th week or so, it changed to constipation but has decided to come back in the past day. My dr told me to take anti-diarrhea medicine and to make sure that I was staying hydrated. I would contact your dr and ask them what they suggest.

  • @caseyw8784 Yes! You worded my current state! I've been focusing on extra of what I do want to eat and smoothies which I add nutritious extras to (collagen powder for protein, chia seeds, etc.) Really hope this passes!
  • @zamora_spin - yes, anxiety/stress may be part of it! Waiting for the beta, and then having to wait for the 2nd beta is making me anxious! Probably won't feel 100% "safe" until the ultrasound and hearing/seeing the heartbeat.

@myorke24 - I've also been making fruity protein smoothies to try to keep the protein up at least...
  • @slipaustin I'm on them! Been on them since the day I got my BFP- 2 suppositories a day. The "leakage" sucks but is manageable with pantyliners! Not having any side effects to my knowledge, at least nothing discernible from pregnancy symptoms! The only thing I hate is that my capsules are RED so the leakage is ALARMING, and I think that was an incredibly poor packaging choice, haha. But they're orangey red, so it just takes a moment to reassure myself that it's from the capsule and not actual blood.

@amack22 I just ordered the Crude brand oil-cleansing system, plus thayer's rose witch hazel & some rosehip oil, recommended to me by a momma friend with glowing skin. Will keep you guys posted, hopefully I love it! Haven't figured out my sunscreen situation yet.

  • @slipaustin - I use Acure also! I love how the lotions/body wash/shampoos smells! I'm on progesterone, too, but in sesame oil as injections. After being on it for 2.5 weeks, i think i would rather have the suppositories or the patches. My back/butt/hip areas are covered in bruises and it feels like someone has taken a bat to my hips!

OMG @hunt_adventure_society....RED?!? that is AWFUL! some of the ladies on the infertility boards use suppositories where the leakage is bright blue, so they joke that there had been a Smurf massacre!
