Re: FFFC 5/12

  • I've been spending most of my day at work so far with the button on my jeans undone. I only button it if I have to stand up and walk somewhere. We can't wear leggings even on Fridays so they're basically asking for this.

  • Now that I'm pregnant, anytime I'm out with my mom and she sees a baby or toddler she has to point them out and say things like "Omg Katie look at that baby isn't it so cute!" or "That's going to be you soon chasing a kid around!". And then she gets mad at me if I don't react with the proper amount of enthusiasm. I've never been the type of person to ohhh and ahhh over babies/children, and being pregnant has not magically turned me into a lover of all things baby. Does this make me a selfish jerk? Is it some indicator that I'll be a shitty mom?

@peachy13   I'm cracking up... I literally just undid my jean buttons a minute ago.  :D

@vauxthekate   Definitely not! That would drive me nuts!
  • I had to call in sick to work last night [see SO fartface thread] and I went to bed when I was supposed to be starting work at 11, after I had slept until 4pm, and slept all the way through until 7am. It was glorious, I do not regret calling in sick!

  • @vauxthekate I think that says more about your mom than it does you. If you've never been the type to ooh and ahh, then I don't get why people think being pregnant will suddenly make you that way. You can be excited for your own children and still be completely underwhelmed by anyone elses.

@babytime24 and @peachy13....girlllllls you need get with the program. Buttoned pants are SO last decade. I don't wear pants without an elastic waist anymore. And I don't mean maternity pants.  I literally don't wear pants that don't have elastic ever. It's been life changing.  These are my fave jeans...

  • @babytime24 @txmomma16 Thank you! I don't feel so guilty now.

@ameliabedelia-2 Whaaaat! Those look so comfortable. I was just raving about how much I loved the maternity shorts I bought and my mom and I both wondered why they didn't just make more pants like that, not neccessarily for pregnancy only. Bingo.

  • @ameliabedelia-2   Haha  Love them!  I'm typically in my black leggings and some flowy top, but on Fridays, we're allowed to wear jeans.  I figure I should while I still fit in them!  I gotta hit up Target or something for some more tops, though!  I have some favorite "flowy" ones, but have totally been rewearing them too much!  I wouldn't say I have a bump yet, but this belly is definitely bigger than normal!  :D
  • @vauxthekate I was never the type to ooh and ahh over babies either even when I was pregnant with my son.  I love my DS more than anything in the world, but still am not a fan of most other kids. I do find myself oohing and aahing over other kids a little more now though.

I guess to follow that up my FFFC is I do not think all babies are cute.
  • @TigerCakes I SO AGREE. Not all babies are cute. And when someone posts a picture of their baby and I think it isn't cute, I instantly feel bad...but it still doesn't change the fact that I don't think it's cute. Lol.

  • @MJDsquared Haha! I'm bad too. If I don't think your baby's cute I won't say that it's cute either.  I'll think of some other compliment to say, but I'm not going to lie to you.
  • I just had my last test for my BSN degree today! So thankful to be done. But my confession is that I didn't think nursing school was as difficult as it's portrayed to be. I mean, yeah it took a lot of hard work, sacrifices, and dedication but what degree doesn't?
  • @TigerCakes I feel that way about most newborn babies lol. Yes, it's amazing and magical and yadda yadda  but some newborns look like something out of a sci fi movie  :D
  • @speach13 I agree! However, I did think my DS was adorable from the start, but I may be biased.
  • I totally thought DS was the cutest newborn ever made at the time, but looking back he was a red, wrinkly mess like the rest of them.

Also, I don't particularly like kids, and certainly not more now that I have one. I like my friends' kids, I like my kid, but yeah...that's about it.

Agree with this 100%. Actual nursing, though...the first year is tough.
  • @ohmickey331 I wish I was as brace as you! Except the ILs part, they are as anti Trump as one can be. But I have a lot of friends the like him???
  • @jlemons-2 I really dislike my ILs and I'm not sure they know so this is my heatlthy way of sticking it to them lol. Super mature I know but saves me tons of money on therapy.
  • @ohmickey331 I am in awe of you. I would LOVE to have the guts to do that. I really dislike some of my ILs too, and they are just ridiculously uninformed about everything. I'm too chicken because I live in a red state and work in manufacturing... there are WAY too many Trump supporters in my office. We know we disagree, but we don't bring it up.

  • If it works, keep doing it! Did you see the one where someone photoshopped an accordion in his hands when he is talking? Funny stuff.
  • @jlemons-2 I have not! Off to google that, add it to my arsenal. I'm always open to new material and articles are my favorite haha. I literally have no idea how two closed minded people raised such an amazing human being my husband is so open minded and awesome!

@ohmickey331 oh my goodness!!! I LOVE this!!!
  • File under: not all babies are cute.
This was the last thing I was looking at before I hopped over to read this thread.  LOL.  Bless him.

  • @ohmickey331 For the win! That's fabulous!

@ameliabedelia-2 ooh I love those but they're petite and I don't see regular on the Nordstrom site. I'll be on the lookout for something similar though so thanks for the tip!

@peachy13 I've been doing the hair-tie trick at work every day for the past few weeks. No shame. My belly's just bigger because I've been stuffing my face, plus the bloat blump that comes and goes. So much more comfy than trying to button or forgetting I'm unbuttoned when I get up to do stuff!
