I believe that raising a child is a team effort. Not one parent over the other. Sure 1 parent may do more than the other, but overall it should be a team effort. It shouldn't be considered "babysitting" if the father is home with the kids while mom is running errands or hanging with friends. Which kind of goes into I believe marriage is also a team effort, and so is cohabiting. Not all the household chores and cooking etc should be up to only 1 person. Everyone should do their part. Kind of like the clean up song from when we were little kids "Clean up, clean up, everyone do their share..."
@dogdinylovr Agreed. Although maybe if I had Heidi Klum legs I would have a different opinion.
@stephy_p ack Totally crunchy cereal in ice cold milk for the win. The second it starts to get soggy, no thank you. So I pretty much have to inhale my cereal.
@labby18 DH constantly says he's babysitting and it drives me crazy. He does an amazying job co-parenting and sharing all household duties, but he just can't seem to figure out that words still matter.
My UO - I'm kind of over the 13 Reasons Why talk. I know it's a super important conversation on so many levels, but I think I'm getting burned out/over stimulated on talk about that particular show.

@lizlann honestly I hate that that show is so "popular" we should be talking about 13 Reason WHY NOT TO. The discussion shouldn't be how other people should change their actions, it should be how those who suffer from depression can get help and choose LIFE.
My UO- I dislike people today... the further into the pregnancy the less tolerable to people... might be why I've been off the community so much lately. *sigh*

Sometimes I wish I had a job and then I hear about your fellow employees and I'm like NOPE, I'll just stay home where I dont have to be pretend nice to people every day.
I 100% feel like kids should be dressed like kids and not put in revealing clothing. Seeing 7 year olds running around in mini bikinis with just little triangles covering up their bits makes me cringe.
@klcarr19 I am right there with you! I'm not a big fan of people in the first place, but I used to have a pretty large amount of patience with them. I am usually a people pleaser, I try to be very nice to others, and not show when I am annoyed with them. The last month or so, that's gone out the window. I think I am still pretty nice to others, but I have been putting up with other people's crap a lot less, and I have been letting people know how I feel....and I kind of like it, haha! Now as long as I can keep the "cussing people out" part of me inside my head and don't let that out, I think I'll be ok, haha!
@msashley2010-2 I totally agree. I wanted to get a dress for my friend's 3 year old. The family is really conservative. I had so much trouble finding anything that didn't have spaghetti straps and wasn't backless, etc. 3 year olds should dress like little kids.
My UO for the day: My husband and I will be having our son circumcised.
We took the decision seriously as we know people on both sides of the debate but ultimately my husband decided yes and since he has lived with a penis for 29 years I figured that was good enough for me. I know several people who will not be happy with our decision. At the end of the day we are doing what we think is best for our son and if we end up being wrong for whatever reason we are prepared to live with that.
I have a lot of these today as I'm disliking people more and more each day. I'll narrow it down to one.
I think it's rude to give your kids a bunch of food such as pizza that they don't eat/finish while other people in the house, i.e. a pregnant lady who bought the food, only gets to have 1 slice.
Sorry if it's specific I'm still butt hurt, from last night.
@lane89 I say the other people who will be angry at you guys over this should kick rocks. You guys are raising your child, not these other people, and it's what you guys think is best.
@lane89 Is it popular public opinion to not circumsice baby boys anymore? We are going to have our son circumcised too, and anyone who doesn't like it can just deal with it. Aint anybody else's biznass IMHO.
@stephy_p I believe it depends on where you live. In the US, it is still relatively common to circumcise for reasons other than religion. The rates are declining, but it is still quite common. I believe that there are also differences in different regions of the US. It is less common in other countries. It is also still very common to circumcise for religious reasons in certain faiths, such as Judaism and Islam.
@stephy_p I don't think it's popular opinion one way or the other. Where I live nobody batted an eye at what we decided to do, but I don't necessarily think that means our decision was the popular one here. But it's definitely a controversial opinion in some places and for whatever reason, people sometimes get all up in each other's business about it. I've seen the circumcision conversation get pretty heated on BMBs.

@labby18 I sure hope that isn't an unpopular opinion! Nothing grinds my gears more than dads "babysitting" or not doing the nitty gritty because "it's not my thing". Uh, you made it. You raise it.

My UO is I don't get why people want daily updates from their child's daycare about what time they had a nap, ate, had diaper changes etc. I get the first month to see how they are adjusting and special needs but I could care less when he pooped and passed out. The picture attached is off of my fb and is the second child at 9 months ( has been in daycare for 6 months) and she posts these like 3 times a week.
@lane89 DH and I decided to have DS circumcised, after we discussed reasons for and against it at great length. After we were back home from the hospital, my BIL came to us and was like, "Well, I was going to discuss this with you before DS was born." He then proceeded to tell us all about how our child has lost the ability for vast amounts of pleasure during sex (something he would know nothing about, making the not far out there assumption that he is circumcised like his brother/ my DH is), and a million other reasons. I rather pleasantly let him know that we were the ones who got to make the decision, and it was done. It literally has nothing to do with it, but BIL seems to think being gay gives him an expert opinion on the subject, and the right to share said opinion on my child's penis, and I'm afraid it does not.
My point is, make whatever decision works best for your family. Everyone else can just get over it.
@lane89 I think we will, but I feel like we would be judged if we did, or maybe i am imagining the judgement. We have two boys already who are circumcised so I do think it would be funny to not.
My unpopular opinion is Im upset with my step mom who has dememtia. She asked me(like 10 times) to invite my sister in law to the mothers day bbq we are doing, then forgot she asked me to. Now my dad is upset because he doesnt get along with sil's mom. So my stepmom is like oh you shouldnt have invited her mom, i dont know what your dads going to say. Woman how can i invite sil to a bbq on mothers day(which you insisted i do) and when she asks can i bring my mom i say no?! I get it, she has dementia... well dementia sucks.

Oooh oohh I've got another UO. I don't even think that 7 year old girls should have to wear bathing suit tops if they don't want to, because they are little kids. Instead I think we should stop sexualizing little kids completely.
Incandescent Dementia sucks so bad. It's so hard not to get irritated when you have to constantly repeat yourself or when people make conflicting comments and can't even realize how much chaos it causes. I'm willing to bet it's not really even step mom that your upset with - it's the stupid crazy making disease.
@lilpoots Agreed. I feel this way about kids in general (regardless of gender). There's this kiddo on my street who loves to run around naked (he's maybe 3) especially when he's playing outside. The neighbors get all gossipy about it talking about how it's such bad parenting and he's being taught it's okay to be naked and whatever happened to decency and modesty and he's going to become some sort of nudist sexual deviant and blah blah blah. Guess what nosy neighbors - it is ok to be naked and it's not going to make him all messed up when he grows up. Because he's freaking 3 years old.

Yup!! I used to be a toy minimalist then we got our rental based on the loft size to accommodate all our toys
@lilpoots and naked kids are easier to potty train especially outside!
@Lizlann yeah it is the disease, it sucks. It makes it really hard to bond with her. I didnt want to point out that she forgot so I just shut up because it would just make her feel bad, but it makes me feel kind of crazy sometimes.
@lilpoots Agreed! I hate how hyper sexualized even baby clothes are. Let kids be kids. Stop making them feel like shit about themselves because they aren't the perfect little sex objects society tries to force them into.
My UO is I hate when people are constantly asking pregnant women 'Are you ok? How are you feeling?' My coworkers ask me this almost every day. I'm pregnant, not dying! I too am among the group having an increasingly stronger dislike for being around people.

Do people normally ask such questions about someone else's child's genitalia? That was always a very taboo, you'll find out when you get married sort of topic where I grew up.

@mrs_tacos I would have something snarky to say just to keep everyone from asking lol. Like wel I guess the only person who it will matter to probably won't care.
@lizlann you can just tell your neighbors that Saturday was World Naked Gardening Day. I bet they would have a field day with that! It really was, by the way, DH was very upset I didn't participate.

Did DH participate? Because if not, he can shut his trap about your level of participation. When I was in college there was this lady who lived up the canyon from the town I lived in and she had a reputation for gardening in her front yard, which faced a state highway, nude. But then that whole area had a reputation for being a hippie haven so people generally didn't think twice about it.
