My WTF is to this work week. Since Friday I've been putting in 15-16 hour days and I'm tired as hell. I wanna be in bed and cuddle with DH. I need some time with him and my fur babies
WTF to everyone who told me I probably just had a stomach bug yesterday and it wasn't morning sickness related, because morning sickness "doesn't make you that sick" So you're telling me that I must just be getting a series of stomach bugs that no one else in my family has been getting?
WTF to my boss who basically volunteers me to do things that are not in my job description. This one thing is causing me so much stress I am going to throw my hands in the air and leave.
My WTF is my 4 yr old. He asked for juice. I said he could have lemonade or orange juice with his breakfast. He started pointing out every other liquid in the fridge including hot sauce which he hates. Then when I said that he was obviously not listening so he doesn't get anything he pitched a fit and said he was mad because I got him into trouble. Boy, I didn't do anything, you got your own butt in trouble.
My WTF is parents who need to taken vacation 5 weeks before school is out and want me to provide work. 6 kids are going to be gone at different times before June! Don't they know May is a crazy time at school anyway!
My OB prescribed progesterone injections (20 weeks worth) to hopefully keep me from going into preterm labor. The pharmacy just called and my copay for 4 weeks worth of shots is $3500.00. I was able to contact the drug manufacturer and they offer grants for copay assistance. They got my copay down to $75. I'm breathing a sign of relief but WTF???? How in the world can prescriptions cost this much money?
This probably could go under current events, why my pregnant self is crying, or the bitchfest thread but I didn't have anything else to contribute to this thread today so here it is
WTF to my bff who is sending me incredibly mixed signals about my pregnancy. She'll act super excited and then randomly throw in a snide remark. It's really confusing and is just making me not want to share anything pregnancy related with her. I think I'm doing a pretty good job of not being overbearing about it too, we mostly talk about her wedding!
Thanks @av2323 I do try to contain it mostly here but, you know, it'd be nice to talk to my bff about it...it's the mixed signals that are the most upsetting. Either make it clear you care and want to be involved or don't. Much easier for me to read.
@av2323 I had to take Makena injections with DS3 and fortunately my insurance covered all of it at the time. Now, I need to take them again with this LO, but I have different insurance and I'm waiting to hear what they'll cost. Really hoping they don't say $3500!!!!! That's insane!!!! Glad you were able to get the copay down!
@cmessamore They said once I paid the $3500 for the first shipment I would have met my out of pocket max for the year so then they would cover it at 100%. Gee thanks?? It's just a hard pill to swallow for 4 weeks of medicine. I hope yours is covered this time!!
@av2323 prob should reserve this for another thread but the state of healthcare in this country.
Also, and I feel like a dummy for even admitting this: what is the difference between a deductible and an out of pocket max? Yesterday at the MFM they told me that I met my deductible but haven't met my out of pocket max so I would still need to pay in full for their services and I am just thinking to myself, how stupid is this. Just make the deductible the out of pocket max and call it a day. Because now my deductible + the out of pocket max is really what I have to shell out to get any kind of coverage. *end rant
I really hope that once you pay the one time 3500 you are covered bc otherwise that's ridiculous.
@DuchessOfCambridge I feel the need to express to you that your BFF has been annoying me for quite awhile in regards to your pregnancy. If I recall correctly she wasn't amazing when you told her either... correct me if I'm wrong because I could be mixing you up with someone else. My WTF today is this girl in my mom group on Facebook. It's like a group for moms that live in my neighborhood and everytime anyone posts anything about babysitters she chimes in that she baby sits. And there is NOT enough people in the group for anyone to not know that she baby sits. Personally I wpuld not trust her with my children and I just feel like it's off taste to recommend yourself when someone is asking for recommendations about something like that. Like if you're that great surely someone you work for will recommend you? She also recommends herself for house cleaning. It is so unbelievably petty on my part, but it's really annoying.
Eta: literally everything and everyone annoys me these days
@DuchessOfCambridge That's really not fair to you. How is she going to act post-wedding? Is there something else going on? She can either keep her comments to herself or, as crappy as it may be, move on.
@rms924 I'm not for sure the answer, so I'd love to hear how others interpret it. But how it was explained to me is that the deductible is what you hit for them to pay 100% of in network coverage. The out of pocket max is used for those things they may only pay 80% (for example) of after you hit your deductible. With my insurance, out of network, I pay 100% up to my deductible and then I'm still responsible for 20% (them paying 80%) until my out of pocket max.
@rms924 I think your deductible is a certain amount you have to pay for certain things, like say you have a $100 deductible for something that is $500 you pay that first $100 and they cover the rest. I think the out of pocket max is the maximum amount you need to pay of deductibles or anything else except copays. Like if you have a $1000 max then you could pay your deductible 10x. But it's been a while since I had to deal with insurance companies and worked at a doctor office.
@rms924 I honestly don't know what the difference is. I typically just pay what they say I owe. Today is the first day that has given me pause. It would be nice for it to be easily understandable. I think @mariposa_767s explanation sounds pretty reasonable!
@av2323@bcashaw@ElizabethSchuyler@mariposa_767s I do think part of it is that she feels her wedding is being overshadowed. But we talk about it literally all the time, I ask her questions almost every day because I know she wants to talk about it (and I want to hear about it, I'm excited too!), and I'm spending a ton of time and money prepping for her bridal shower and bachelorette. I don't want to feel bad about being excited about my baby.
@cmessamore I hope you don't have to pay $3500 too! I think that's nuts.
My WTF is to my boss, who not only announced that I'm expecting to our entire board of directors (30+ people) today without telling me in advance or even -gasp- asking if it was okay, but also used my pregnancy as an excuse in a written report for why a project is going to be shelved until next year (shocking, also without talking to me about it first). I don't think my face has ever been so red.
@rms924 What @am+mommy said. Co-pays are what you are required to pay upfront for any treatment (for example $20 for a primary care doctors appointment - this is what the office usually collects upfront, unless your OB does global billing). The deductible is what you are required to pay before insurance coverage kicks in (say $100 on a $500 charge, and then insurance coverage kicks in for the last $400). Deductibles can exist for different people on the plan and for individual visits/treatment. The OOP max is the maximum dollars amount you'll pay out of pocket. Deductibles count towards the OOP max, but co-pays don't. its a super confusing system, and Id happily pay higher insurance premiums if it meant I never had to pay another dime for treatment when I need it.
My WTF Wednesday is this combination of cold and allergies that just won't go away. I haven't slept well in a week, and my throat hurts so bad I'd love to rip it out and trade it in for a new one...
@riversong15 ohhhhhhhhhhh I have a "high deductible" plan with no co-pays. That's probably why mine was explained to me the way it was. I'm convinced they make it confusing so we just pay whatever and hope it's right.
@DuchessOfCambridge I have to agree with everyone else, your friend is being a little bit ridiculous. And honestly, you are a way better (or at least more patient friend than I am) because I already would've snapped at her!!
@lck101 first of all, every time I tag you, I think you name is "ick", but written with a capital I. Lol and then I have to remember that it's an "l". My brain isn't functioning well these days. Second, your boss was incredibly rude and insensitive! IMO, it's nobody else's place to announce my pregnancy and then to put it on you that a project is going to have to wait till you're not knocked up is just obnoxious!
WTF family, the party starts at 6! I've had probably 10 people ask if it was ok if they got there a little early to beat traffic. Yeah whatever but I'm putting you to work, here's a plastic bag and a pooper scooper, get to work on the backyard lol
ok not actually making them scoop poop, but seriously I'm scrambling enough for time here.
Oh, I though that of another WTF (or bitchfest Monday). I only have two bras that fit me right now. And when we did laundry this weekend, the strap on one of them got tangled and damaged. Now there is a rough part on the back band that rubs and hurts when I wear it in an annoyingly unreachable part of my back.
Dirty lurker, but I wanted to chime in about insurance. As background, I worked in a staffing agency that staffed health insurance adjusters, I'm currently the plan administrator at my current company, and I have had significant experience as a patient with insurance, good and bad.
As @riversong15 said, CoPays are what you pay to see a doctor, get basic prescriptions, things like that. (If your plan has a co-pay.) Deductibles are the $$ amount you are responsible before insurance kicks in, not including co-pays. After reaching the deductible, most plans have either a 70/30, 80/20 or 90/10 plan, which means that insurance will pay 70%/80% or 90% of the bills, and you are responsible for the remaining percentage. For example, if you have a 80/60 plan and have met your deductible and you receive a $1000 bill, insurance should pay $800, and you are responsible for the remaining $200, until you meet your OOP. Insurance plans vary state to state, some OOP Maxs do include Co-Pays, some include deductibles, some don't include any of it. It depends on the laws in individual states.
There are millions of different types of plans, but that's the basic terminology that most plans use. If you have a HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) you likely do not have any co-pay, and are responsible for every penny until you reach your high deductible. After that, insurance should pay for a certain percentage of your bills, until you meed your OOP.
Sorry to be a dirty lurker and intrude, but insurance is something I understand pretty well and have had to fight with a lot through the years (I've had three surgeries, two in patient procedures, and hundreds of doctors appointments/prescriptions in the last 5 years.) Hope my explanation helps!!
