Dailies-May the 4th Be With You

Hope it's ok to start this!

Re: Dailies-May the 4th Be With You

  • Question for STM+s..anyone breastfed while pregnant? I'm hoping to make it at least 2 more months, but also would like to slowly start weaning.

  • @schaze I am breastfeeding DD right now and am (obviously) pregnant! I guess I do not really have any advice other than I'm in the boat with you. DD is 4 times in a day/night max and I am trying to make it 2, which is easy to do aside from weekends or when she is sick. How often are you doing it?

  • @EmilyLove25 oh so glad I'm not alone! Mine is a bit younger, we are at 4-5 during daytime and 2 or 3 per night. It's mainly the night ones I'm trying to get rid of, but I've been trying for months now with no success.
  • @schaze So DD is a terrible sleeper (like her mom!), but I had reached somewhat of a breaking point with the stress of TTC and work etc. I decided to switch up the routine. First, we got rid of her crib and bit the bullet and got her an AWESOME twin bed. Second, I started having DH put her to bed (which hilariously is usually at 9 pm because of our schedules). So what we do is I hand her off at 8, go take a shower, and sneak upstairs. DH gives her a bottle of milk and lets her sit on his lap watching Sesame Street. Then he puts her to bed. Holy heck has she been sleeping better AND it cuts out the pre bed nursing session which for us was the longest. Just some thoughts... and I'm a horrible mom and basically co-slept with her (literally in the crib for two months but mostly in bed) her whole life. I love snuggling with her but it has been nice... and I know cutting that session lowered my prolactin enough that I was able to get the BFP.

  • :D@EmilyLove25 Not nursing related, but I still sleep most nights (at least half the night) with my almost 3-year-old. She doesn't come into our bed, but I go sleep in hers (it's a full size). No shame lol

@schaze I nursed through month eight of my last pregnancy, and I'm still nursing my youngest now.

@EmilyLove25 and @missblaze, I feel you on the co-sleeping thing! We only co-slept (with LO in a co-sleeper attached to the side of the bed) until LO was only 6 months old because she WOULD NOT SLEEP if we were in the room. It was so traumatic for me to put her in her own room, but she slept through the night on her very first night, so I know she needed it (she was waking up 5+ times a night at that point). She's almost 16 months now, and DH says (literally) every.single.night, "let's go get (DD) out of her crib so she can sleep with us." And I almost always give in, but I know she would not sleep. You guys are lucky! I can count on one hand the amount of times LO has fallen asleep with someone else in the room since she was six months old (one of them being last night since she was exhausted). Girl has some serious FOMO!
  • We still bring DD back to our room at the last wake up of the night, usually around 5:30am. She's such a bed hog though  :D
  • STM+s did any of you use hypnosis for any of your previous deliveries? Are any FTMs planning on using it?

I know it's super early, but I used hypnosis last time and I'm looking forward to using it again. My DD was breech and I ended up with a C-section but I truly believe the hypnosis helped. I didn't even know I was in labor (I only felt mild AF-like cramping) and I was laughing and talking with the nurses up until I was 7cm, which was when my OB rushed me into the OR before the serious labor began.

@missblaze I prepared for my both my previous births using hynobabies, but both happened so quickly I didn't really have a chance to use them much in my first labor or at all in my second.  That said, I love the hypnobabies program, especially the pregnancy affirmations, and I plan to follow the program again. (I'm already walking to my affirmations!)

I promise I'm not normally a whiner: but OMG this has been the shittiest day.  I'm sick, DS1 is sick, DS2 is sick (with bonus ear infection and hand, foot, and mouth).  To add insult to injury, we just found out we need to replace the AC unit in our carriage house (goodbye $5K), ugh.

On the plus side: I booked my doula today (we used her with my second, and she's popular in my area so I'm glad to get on her calendar).

  • @missblaze - I used hypnobabies with #3 and felt it really helped me stay relaxed and I made it through with no epidural, but I did have a doula with that birth, which helped a ton. I didn't use it with #4, but only because I couldn't find the time to do it daily.

  • @schaze - I nursed #2 until 3 weeks before delivering #3 (he was 13mos). I was mentally prepared to tandem nurse because it didn't look like he was going to wean by the time she arrived, but he ended up stopping in his own. #3 stopped nursing within weeks of conception with #4 (she was 16mos).

Thanks everyone for the input! Definitely appreciated.

    @schaze thank you!

Well this day has been a wild ride: Our neighbor's paint has been flaking off into our yard (we're in a city row home) and I lead tested it today: positive.  So now we're officially moving.  Taking care of two toddlers, pregnant, house hunting, packing, and moving.  What could go wrong? lol

  • @KatieEl Oh my gosh!! So much to handle all at once!
  • @KatieEl Oh man, what a hassle! Although I think it is sort of fun moving when you are pregnant because you get a new space to prep for a whole new person  :)

  • @KatieEl Ugh what a pain! Hopefully you can find a place quickly so you can get all settled before LO arrives.
  • @KatieEl best of luck house hunting! We are only renting, but we had planned to move into a bigger 2 bedroom apartment in February or March before our least expires at the beginning of April. Not sure how I'll handle that with a toddler and a newborn, but I can't imagine doing it with 2 toddlers!
