  • I started PIO Friday night. Ugh the soreness is kicking in. I used ice for a few minutes prior to injection during my last FET but this round I'm only using heat (the ice didn't make that much of a difference and I heard that it doesn't help the oil to disperse). After injection, I massage and use hot water bottle. But the actual injection isn't really too painful (it helps that I can't see it going in!)..they suck but it'll be worth it :)

  • Hi everyone, excited to see so much movement forward with everyone on this board.  Quite a few transfers coming up in the next couple weeks.  My transfer was originally planned to be next week (it was improved by insurance), but after giving it a lot of thought, we decided to move forward with the ERA test first, which is now scheduled for the 12th.  If all goes well, we may still be able to squeeze in an FET by the end of the month, otherwise it will most likely be the first week in July.

Wish everyone the best of luck with this cycle!
  • @bethann1022 thank you and best of luck to you too!
  • So tomorrow is my hysteroscopy...yay....its finally about here..praying all goes well and its gods will for me to be able to start the fet cycle within the next week!!
  • Good luck @bethann1022 hope this helps with the next FET!

    Good luck tomorrow @momma6angels11

  • You all who are doing the PIO are so much braver than I am!! I have a mild to moderate phobia of needles so I got my doctor to work with me to find a protocol that would allow me to use suppositories instead. I think AF will start up tomorrow which will be great because that means we can start everything up. I'm really hoping my estrogen cooperates this time around so we can actually do the transfer.

If anyone hasn't yet, please feel free to add your info to the spread sheet :)

  • @momma6angels11 glad your hysteroscopy went well! How exciting to move forward to next steps.
I'm so excited June is almost here! I'm doing a non-medicated cycle so I will go in for monitoring later this week to check for LH surge and then schedule my transfer from there.
@brooklyngirl18 PIO is definitely brutal! I would suggest heating the area before you inject, which it sounds like you might be trying tonight. I found that helped me so much more than icing. But it's all worth it if it gets that BFP!

  • @kaseycoco thanks for the tip. I used heat last night and I barely feel any soreness today so I definitely think that's the key for me. I also used a foam roller on the area before and after which I'm sure was quite comical for my husband. I was on the floor trying to find a good angle to work my upper butt muscle...oh the things we do to get pregnant.

@brooklyngirl18 the image of you on the floor trying to find the right angle cracks me up! Thanks for the laugh! Do you give the PIO shots to yourself?

I give the PIO shots to myself and found out that standing is the easiest for me.

I'm guessing that I'll be put on PIO by the end of next week... not looking forward that. But I will be happy to stop with the Lupron! I really hate that shot! It's burning and the needle is not sharp enough so it takes forever to get in and super painful!

@brooklyngirl18 foam roller, eh? hmmm I will have to keep that in mind for when I get to start the joyous PIO next week!
@Prudence9 both of my ER cycles I only used a Lupron trigger so I have no frame of reference... for me it was the Gonal F that was the worst, burned and stung after every injection :(

AFM, baseline blood work showed my E2 at 274 so things are a go... same meds (6mg
Estrace) then back in on June 5th for blood work and lining check.  At this point they are projecting transfer on the 10th!

PIO shows up tomorrow from the pharmacy... my headaches are still bad from the Estrace though. Tylenol helps a bit. If they persist through Thursday, I might get switched to 2mg vaginally... my nurse echoed the 'orally the estradiol is processed through the liver which can give people headaches but the other way, it doesn't')... we shall see.  She told me that considering that if all goes well I will be on it through week 10, there was no need to be a martyr with the headaches hahaha

Ahhh I feel so behind on this thread!  I came into it late, but now I'm really behind haha.  I teach and this is the last week of school and it's been crazy busy at work these last couple of weeks.  Normally I'll get on here in the evenings to catch up, but I've been so beat from work, I've just been crashing.

To the ladies who have started PIO, I'm not looking forward to that again.  I've had ice and numbing cream recommended to me, but I found what worked best for me before was what many of you are doing already... I'd put the syringe under my armpit for several minutes before the injection to warm it up... Then after the injection, I'd massage the area for about 60 seconds to help the medication spread... and sometimes after I'd use a heating pad.  I really found ice was not helpful at all.  I think that coldness is more uncomfortable than the injection itself.  In the past, I would stand for the injection while DH or myself did it, but maybe I'll try leaning over a chair or laying down some this time.  When I got my Lupron Depot shot at my clinic a few weeks ago, I leaned over the table and I didn't think it felt very painful that way... Granted, that was not a thick oil injection like PIO lol.  I'm just trying to think of positive things to try and make this go around rainbows and butterflies lol.

@brooklyngirl18 and @Prudence9 I can't imagine being on Lupron for so long.  I feel fortunate that I only had to have the one injection... What side effects have you had?

Today I had an US, trial transfer, and sonohysterogram.  Baseline US and blood work next week... Here we go uterus, here we go! (clap clap) :D

@cmiller73 funny how we all react differently. For me Gonal F was the easiest injection!

  • @Prudence9 They haven't brought the patch up (I was on the patch for my ER protocol during the priming month and between the itching that gave me and managing the headaches with Tylenol, I think I would choose the tablets... the adhesive on those patches really irritated my skin)... I think it is just me being stubborn since I don't like taking any sort of med unless I have to, and I just need to accept that now I need to be ok with taking Tylenol when my headaches get bad...

Currently, I am drinking Pom juice, keeping WELL hydrated and eating ALL the dark green things with brown rice and organic chicken or beef... anything else you ladies are doing to keep your body fit inside and out leading up to transfer?

@joneser1281 I don't remember exactly how long I was on lupron, almost 3 weeks I think. I had awful headaches but didn't have too much trouble administering the shot itself. I lol'ed at your here we uterus, here we go chant  :D

well ladies, I had my final monitoring before FET and I was given the all clear for Friday. Dr said everything looks perfect. I'm so freaking nervous and excited. I think Beta will be June 12 but I will be peeing on all the things way before that.

  • I meant to say before that I realized DH was doing the PIO shots a little too low. Last night he did it in the correct location and I barely felt it go in and today I don't have any soreness at all. PSA- make sure you/DH find the correct spot, it makes all the difference!

  • @thucks thank you for updating the spreadsheet for me! Yes 3! Thats all we have left so we are going to take our chances as this will be our last try.
Thanks @Prudence9 @cmiller73 thanks!! Yes now the next count down begins!! It feels great to be finally able to begin the cycle..
What is everyones protocol? I am doing aspirin once a day and estradiol 1mg am and pm for 2 days then 2mg am and pm for 2 more days then 3mg am and pm and 1mg vaginal and go in for bloodwork on day 14 then adding keflex2x day, medrol, and crinone gel 2x a day til the samples are gone then switching to progesterone shots. Has anyone ever done this protocol?
  • @hoping10 i hope all went well today and you are PUPO!!
  • thucksthucks member
    @momma6angels11 This is my protocol: Aspirin & prenatal everyday,  CD's 1,3 & 5 i have 2 patches, CD's 7 & 9 3 patches, CD's 11, 13 & 15 4 patches. CD 17 I go to 2 patches every other day. CD 14 I have Ovidrel and I'll take Doxycycline for 5 days. CD 15 starts 1ml POI every afternoon and CD 20 is transfer day and I start levenox daily.
We have 3 frosties left but one more fresh round can be covered under insurance if this doesn't work. So we are on our second to last round.

  • @momma6angels11 no, haven't done this protocol... mine is Lupron shots from 10 days before AF. Once AF add patches (which are increased every 3 days).

Once i I get the FET date, I will be told about when to stop Lupron and start PIO. And I think I also have medrol for the 5 days before the procedure and also a Valium for the procedure

Then, u/s on CD 15. So I'll find out the rest then.

  • I agree with you both.. there are so many different protocols..
  • Does any of you using the patch have rapid heartbeat? Today I increased to 2 and I've been having rapid heartbeat....

im pretty sure it happened to me during last FET but I didn't think of the patch as the root cause.
