Re: Symptoms 5/1

  • DD has dropped, so I can breath again YAY. Of course, now I have to pee every 30 minutes. Being a teacher with no assistant has made this interesting. Luckily, I work in a little country school with a bunch of "grandmothers" who keep checking on me.

  • I think we're all just slacking. I keep feeling like there is nothing going on here and checking Facebook, but not too much seems to be happening on Facebook either. Don't let me down right at the end ladies.... reading your posts is my daily entertainment.
I don't really have any new symptoms. My hip or pelvis muscles might be loosening bc they've been a little sore and less reliable to support me when I change positions.
  • My feet and ankles are so swollen. My right foot/ankle/calf is in a lot of pain and is more swollen. Has anyone else noticed more pain and/or swelling in one side?

In other news, DH asked me if I wanted to go to Chick-fil-A for lunch. It was pretty sad to realize that I'm in the point of my pregnancy where I'm too tired to go get lunch.

@doodleoodle. I am never too tired to eat. I think that is all I do.

I have a gross varicose vein on my right thigh, and now it seems like all of my surface veins ache. When it was really hot over the weekend, my whole leg ached.

The skin on my belly feels kind of numb in some places. Anyone else?
  • @kahlan82 and @neludelu I'm so jealous. I've been forcing myself to eat anything the last few days. I feel so sick to my stomach pretty much all the time, and all I want to do is sleep.
  • Hello back pain and starting to feel slight pressure as baby drops. Getting up and down is starting to get interesting. I also want to eat everything but attempting to make decent choices to keep GD numbers in control.

Sometimes. Not consistently though and not always in the same spots.

Get some compression socks!! This is my mothers advice. She got varicose veins with my brother and has had numerous surgeries and laser treatments because of them. She has to wear compression socks/tights now whenever she flies. She was telling me yesterday that she wishes she wore them during that pregnancy.

I have a spot right in the front under my ribs where I was numb almost the entire pregnancy with dd, she didn't move too much so I think she was just comfy on that nerve. He hits it sometimes and it goes numb too. Super weird.

Have you mentioned this to your doc? Pain and swelling in only one leg can be a sign of a clot. I had to have a special ultrasound done to rule one out. Just to be on the safe side.

I had to get a pair of tights, because my vein is higher than most socks cover. My new problem is that I have exactly one dress I can wear with them, and the leggings are sheer on the top, so I can't just wear a long shirt. They definitely help when I wear them. I really didn't want to do more shipping this late in my pregnancy, but I'm only willing to rock the athletic shorts over my tights look at home.

  • @kahlan82 @kyreno11 ~ yeah, so slow, esp HDBD :(

I'm +1 for the numbness under my ribs (right side) pretty consistently for many weeks @Kylieslip24 @lmudra

I'm not sure how I've escaped swelling, but miraculously I have.  That might change as we've had two 90 deg days in a row here in the bay area.  Sympathies for those of you dealing with that. :s

Is anyone else having more congestion? I've never had allergies, though the mucus and sneezing has been constant in pregnancy and especially strong the past two weeks as it heats up.  Can pregnancy contribute to allergies?

Today I've had hours of BH contractions. No exertion and I'm not dehydrated, but called my doctor's office just out of due diligence after hour 5 and having them 5-10 minutes apart.  They sent me to L&D for a preterm labor check.  Relieved and happy to say it was just BH and no signs of preterm labor (35 weeks Friday) but have to say the whole experience kinda freaked me out and made me want to get that hospital bag packed and a few other things taken care of, especially since both the doc and nurse said if it was true labor they wouldn't be doing anything to stop it at this point :o

I have a varicose vein in the calf that is more swollen. I had my doctor look at it at the time that vein developed and said that that spot itself could be painful at times. There are no other suspicious looking spots on that leg. Hmm.. I guess it couldn't hurt to mention it again. Thank you!

My coworker is pregnant and she says she is so hungry, she is waking up in the middle of the night having to eat. So, I figure I am not that bad because I haven't had to do this yet.

Ive been feeling pretty much normal this whole pregnancy but the last few days I have been getting pulsating lower to middle back pain and tightness (almost spasm like). It comes and goes throughout the day and lasts for about a minute. No pain in the front of the belly but some tightness. I didnt have this with my last pregnancy. Anyone else experience this? What causes it and any tips for making it stop?
Ill mention to my midwife when I see her next week and will call if it gets more frequent.

How funny you have "grandmothers" at your school! I work at an urban school but we have grandmas too. This is the first year I've ever heard of it! They are so helpful to have around!

Two indications of a blood clot are a hard spot, or a hot spot. Hopefully you have neither.

That almost sounds like how my back labor felt with DD1.

I've had insane congestion with all 3 of my pregnancies.  Pregnancy rhinitis is what I'm told it is and apparently pretty common.  I found there was almost immediate relief after giving birth, but I know everyone's body is different so take that with a grain of salt.

I don't really have experience with them myself, but that sounds a lot like some of the descriptions I've read of Braxton Hicks contractions. Lots of water and rest might help if it is.

@sparrow my congestion has been outrageous too. I was never a snorer until I got pregnant, DH has to sleep with earplugs now!

Anyone else feel like they have arthritis? My joints have gotten so swollen and painful it is freaking me out. I will ask my MD tomorrow, but from what I have read this can be normal. I had a hard time grabbing my phone this morning to turn off my alarm... ugh.

I have movie quality snoring going on now. It's disgusting.
  • Add me to the weird numb spot on my belly.  Right under the ribs, to the right side.  Almost like part of my skin has fallen asleep.

My blood pressure was up again.  My doctor started talking about gestational hypertension.  And inductions at 37 or 38 weeks.  The thought of having a baby in 2 1/2 weeks scares the shit out of me.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Super weird we all have the same numb spot!
  • Why is this heartburn in my back?! Is it even heartburn?  2 days in a row after eating this pain behind my shoulder blades. Uggh. Please let the Zantac work.

@doodleoodle My feet have been swollen for a while now and my left foot is always more swollen than my right.  I think it's just how my body is.

  • @Kylieslip24 - re: the numb spot, my midwife mentioned that it's common on the right side, especially when baby is positioned head down on the left and also because our liver is on the right.

Interesting, I have a patch of skin to the right of my
belly button that is numb. I only notice when I'm scratching my belly.

@kahlan82 @KB00 Are they through the Foster Grandparent Program?

Just here to report that if anyone has pelvic pain or what they think is SPD -- there is essentially nothing your doctor will do to help you.  :|

Is anyone using a belly band support belt type thing?
