After a long night of intense discussions, DH and I have decided to move and relocate our family from Wisconsin, to Southeast Nevada / Southwest Utah. IN THREE WEEKS. Seriously, no joke, like 23 days from today. We have family we are staying with for a short time while we look for the right place to settle into. We had been talking about moving there for a few years now, and there was always a reason why we couldn't do it.
This pregnancy is changing EVERYTHING, and having a December due date means that I will be on maternity leave from my Post Office job during the craziest time of the year, which means I'll be missing out on an insane amount of overtime pay that we were looking forward to. DH is a professional painter, and work is slow in this area that time of year, and this was fine in the past considering how much extra I worked. We didn't need childcare as much because he was home more. Basically, this baby is setting things in motion and we want to get this move over with as quickly as possible. The climate we are moving to gives him far more opportunity to work during the winter months when I will be unable to.
We have three kids under the age of 7 and I get to be alone with them in the minivan for hours upon hours of driving (yay). The longest time I've been in the car with my kids at one time is 3 hours. The drive time for our move is over 23 hours! I don't know how I'm going to walk away from this with my sanity still intact. Any tips or tricks for a long distance move? Anyone else done something similar? How did you survive?
