  • @labgrand2012  I'm sorry about your interaction with the nurse.  I've been in a similar situation and I don't understand why they can't just take the time to either  A. read everything so they have a full understanding of whats going on or B. Don't say anything about previous tests they see.

@JJMNO1616 don't feel guilty, it's really frustrating when they leave for a work trip during FW.  DH and I have a system where he brings up a possible work trip and I look at the calendar and let him know if it's ok to go or if he should either go later or earlier.  Sometimes he gets to decide what dates to go so if he finds out early enough and talks to me we can find a way to make it work.

    Month/Cycle: 4/2

CD: 6 according to FF, 5 according to my fertility monitor ::shrugs::

WAYDTGKU: temp charting, monitoring CM, Clearblue fertility monitor, will start OPKs again in a few days, prayer.

R/R: Idk I just feel really blah and tired today. Too tired to rant or rave.

CS/Q: I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with either me or my BBT thermometer. My temps last cycle (when I charted them) were erratic and the average was low (97.4), and so far my temps this cycle are REALLY low. Yesterday my temp was 97.1, which seems a bit crazy to me. Granted, I took NSAIDs while I was on AF because I'm having achilles tendonitis. Maybe that has something to do with it. Anyone else have really low temps?

GTKY:  Are you usually early, late, or right on time? I'm usually obscenely early, DH is usually obscenely late. If I nag him enough we're usually just a touch late or maybe even on time.

@sunniegrly my temp yesterday was 97.18 and today was 97.45. Sometimes it dips down into the 96 range (all temps pre-O) so to me...totally normal.
  • @sunniegrly I get pre-O temps under 97 degrees regularly, totally normal.

@zamora_spin Thanks for the heads up on Claritin and drying CM. I think my RE pushes ALL her patients to IUI or IVF immediately and thus isn't concerned about drying CM (that's part of why I put in the big caveat about this only being my doctor who said this etc.) Good to know, especially for @icecubeinthedesert!

@JJMNO1616 That's good. Yes definitely good practice! FWIW I don't think you should feel bad either. MH and I had the travel talk too--but it is way different for mine it sounds like because he really hates traveling, all his coworkers love traveling, and usually travel means he gets kicked off his own projects to bail other people out of their mistakes, which infuriates him. I am not sure how I'd deal if he actually wanted to go like yours, TBH. Anyway, your FW won out and that is always a good thing.  :)

@sunniegrly I am so happy to see you here! Yes, I have similar pre-O temps too. I hope your O comes swiftly and predictably!  <3
  • @sunniegrly, my temp this morning was 96.86, which is on the low end for me, but pre-o tends to hover around 97.1. I've heard that low temps can indicate thyroid issues (hypo), and I am borderline based on which day you take a blood draw

^^ Good point. I think I remember something about this in TCOYF. Also the TSH test is very easy to get (can be through an OB), results come fast, and it's inexpensive.

@icecubeinthedesert - Yeah, I read the same thing, which is what had me concerned. But I had my thyroid levels checked in October 2016 (was having trouble losing weight and wanted to be sure it was because of a medicine I was on at the time rather than because of a thyroid issue). My tests came back normal then, but my anxious self saw my temps and was whispering in my ear "what if you still have a thyroid problem?" Sigh. I annoy myself with my repetitive anxious thoughts. Maybe I'll get my thyroid tested again just for peace of mind. I swear doctors make so much money off of people like me.

Side note: I was able to lose weight once I got off of the horrid medicine. But then I stopped dieting and started TTC and ate lots of french fries (which I hadn't had in like a year) and gained it all back. Nom nom nom fries.

Thank all of ya'll for the responses to my temp question! My anxiety on that is like 90% better now.

Just to add to this, reference values for normal are different for TTC, and should ideally be below 2.5 and should be treated if above 5. For the general population i these values are 5 and 10, respectively. These are the numbers I've seen the most, but if anyone knows otherwise, please correct me. My TSH is between 2.5 and 3 generally, and my current OB tends towards not treating in my case.

@icecubeinthedesert @sunniegrly My OB calls the standard range 0.40 - 4.2 uIU/mL (so similar to what yours said). I'm on the low side of normal, but still within that range, and was told that was OK too.

@icecubeinthedesert @vflux33 - I can't remember what my levels were back in October. I'm going to ask them to check my thyroid when they do my bloodwork on the 18th though just to be safe. Because I'm me and I of course want All The Tests so I don't go insane with worry.

@sunniegrly No harm in doing that, especially if you're getting other tests done anyway. I got one at my preconception appointment in Jan 2016 and another in Feb 2017 and my TSH actually got closer to the middle of "normal" after that year (probably because of some diet changes I made but not totally sure).
  • @purplg8r it's yoga with some cardio mixed in!
  • @purplg8r, I reported on Radiance of Tomorrow by Ishmael Beah. It's a novel about life in Sierra Leone after the civil war there. One of those where I'm glad to have read it but I'm also glad to be done reading it, because it was pretty bleak!
  • @purplg8r They are grey, and then I just bought a pair of sparkly neutral flats to wear with them :)
  • Guys, I'm so effing bored. Eff it, I'm joining. I might not still be benched when I ovulate. And there are like 3 of us in the benched thread.

    Month/Cycle
: What do I put here? We started TTC in July 2016, but then (TW) I MCed in Sept 2016, and we have been TTA since then. But ideally we'll start TTC again this cycle if I get the go ahead from my OBGYN (I have to get an ultrasound to look for fibroids on May 8).

    CD: 2

WAYDTGKU: if we're allowed to... PNV, HIO, I bought some pre-seed a while back... so maybe that... do y'all use those weird AF applicators with it? Or just use it like regular lube?

R/R: I've been working out 4x/week for 4 months to get stronger, and I'm bbaarreellyy improving. I'm thin so I don't want to lose weight, so I can't use that metric. I just don't feel stronger. I do 1 spin, 1 HIIT boot camp style class, and 2 pilates classes each week. Like W. T. F.

    CS/Q
: Maybe if I end up having fibroids? Doc doesn't feel any, just thinks they might be causing the ennddllesss spotting, but IDK. I don't think the symptoms fit. I don't have painful periods. I had 400 ultrasounds in Sept and no one saw anything. Spotting has been a thing for years.

GTKY:  Are you usually early, late, or right on time? If I'm already where I need to be (ie, at work but need to go to a meeting), I'm early. If I need to travel, I'm late. Always late. DH is always early so this is an endless battle. One time we were late, and we really had it out about it, and DH goes, "I don't want to show up late because I don't want anyone to think I'm too stupid to figure out how to get somewhere on time!!!" and I was like, oh honey, do you think I'm too stupid to get somewhere on time? No no, child. I'm a combination of too easily distracted by my makeup routine and too inconsiderate. Don't get it twisted. lol

@sunniegrly not to add to any anxiety, but please be careful with the thyroid testing. My dad pushed hard to have this thyroid tested more thoroughly (and honestly probably they don't even do it this way anymore because it sounds nuts), so they did this weird radiation ink test. I doubt they're actually connected, but he connects it to his early onset Parkinson's. He had a lot of doctors tell him the blood tests are reliable, and if he wanted a second opinion to try taking his temperature for a month to see that way, but he pushed and IDK - they did this weird unnecessary test. Anyway, honestly he's probably bonkers, but just be careful. Like, more blood tests? Sure, why not. Weird radioactive ink tests? Maybe skip. Sorry, just couldn't not say something! This is when I know I'm becoming my mother!

    CS/Q: nope

Hey @doxiemoxie212 ! I am in no way an exercise expert so take my advice with a grain of salt lol but its my understanding to build muscle, you should focus on strength training over cardio as well as up protein and calorie intake. Its good to have a little bit of fat to help build muscle as well. Do you lift weights? Thatll be a good way to track your strength. Maybe in addition to the classes you are taking, add in some sort of weight training a few times a week. Good luck with getting stronger!

@garnetandgoldgrace Good news on the EWCM and positive OPK! Yeah, I think for most people this means you'll O in a day or 2. I only tried the pineapple core a couple times, but always waited until after I confirmed O.

@doxiemoxie212 Yes, party in WTO! (Yeah seriously not a lot going on in Benched--I think there are more people there then are posting so far this week, I guess they just don't feel like it). That story about your dad is really fucked up. I'm sorry he went through that. My FIL has Parkinsons, (I think we talked about that before?), and we think his might be in part a result of a psychiatric medication he was put on and we were never able to get to the bottom of that either.

For pre-seed, we tried it both with the applicators and just like regular lube. TBH MH hated it so much I have a brand new unopened one that's just going to be wasted. One of the many things we tried for a few months just in case it would give us that extra push we needed, but didn't do the trick for me. Based on Amazon reviews you'd think that stuff was magic--guess it works for a lot people. Hopefully it will do the trick for you!
  • Thanks @mschanandlerbong1214! I just placed my Amazon order!

@purplgr8 it's delicious!! Right now, I'm drinking coconut lava.  :)

@Augusta108 that sounds like a rough read

    @Sailing_Mama sounds pretty!

@garnetandgoldgrace I'm not sure how FF gives you ch with no temping. But when I did pineapple, I ate it after my temp rose (I know. So helpful right?)

@doxiemoxie212 I use it with the applicators. Works better for me that way

  • @justkeepswimming8 yeah, the HIIT boot camp classes involve a lot of weights, but I don't necessarily mean stronger as in muscle, I just mean.... IDK? Not so easily out of breath? Able to carry groceries without wanting to die? Lol. Like, I'm making some gains in spin class, but they're soooo minor, and I just felt like I'd be improving more after four effing months. I think I'm just starting at such a low baseline, though, I just have to accept that and keep trying. I never did any sports at all growing up, and I've always been very thin with almost zero muscle. I have this theory that might be complete BS, but I feel like if you did sports/worked out a lot before you stopped growing, it's a lot easier to run/lift/whateveritisyouwanttodothatyousortofdidbefore as an adult. Le sigh.

@vflux33 yeah, might've been the thyroid test, might've been the fckton of weed he smoked every single day of his life because my understanding is that back in the 60s they just drenched the stuff in pesticides (pesticides are pretty strongly linked to Parkinson's, but like, in a poured-pesticides-yourself way, not in like a, shopped at a normal grocery store way), and he smoked (smokes?) so much. #artists

@purplg8r (and sort of @vflux33) what do you mean by "works better" for you? Like, as lube? I actually bought it because typically DH and I don't have sex that often, like once every two weeks, so TTC is like a ssttrruuggllee for me to get wet. Like, the first day is meh, the second day is a little better because my body is like ooo sex, but then after that my body is like, no, you're going to need to orgasm BEFORE we'll allow any lubrication, which is all fine and dandy except we have jobs and lives and like to sleep. (This is becoming TMI, but I'm in that mood, so oh well; feel free to skip.) So basically it became like, I'd read a chapter from a "romance novel," DH would literally fall asleep next to me, and then I'd slap him in the chest a few times to wake him up and be like, get hard my body is willing to participate now. I did not enjoy this process. I thought lube might be preferable. I thought regular lube is supposed to be a hinderance to TTC, whereas pre-seed is like, fine for sperm? Do you guys use it to increase odds of conception?
  • @purplg8r - I also think you should move over to TWW land if you get your CHs.
@Augusta - That sounds like a pretty nifty work enrichment project. And snacks are always welcome!
@Pinky917, @mispanda- Whenever I do arrive early, I ALWAYS creepily wait in my car until I feel it is appropriate to go in!
@KariAnn323 - I'm so excited you got your temp spike! I know that slow rise is crazy making!
    @Dilynne - I'm glad you're feeling better today.
    @mschanandlerbong1214, @RVAmom315 - Yay for +OPK!
@lulu1180 - I'm sorry to see you back here. *hugs*
@icecubeinthedesert - I at least hope your throat feels better! There's no way I would be able to function without taking all of the antihistamines right now. Since I work nights, I'm basically at the end of my day when I got home at 0900.
@labgrand2012 - I think sometimes the shock of what people say leads to us not knowing what to say in return, which is probably a good thing.... but ouch. Sorry you had to endure that.
@Zamora_spin - Why is your mom and SF moving closer to you?
@supercoolstephy - I'm trying so hard not to cave and buy the VIP, but I think if I don't get KTFU in the next two months, I might.
@sunniegrly - I know others have already eased your anxiety on your temps, but I thought I would add that my cover line is usually around 97.3, so you're fine! But now I'm nervous about my thyroid....
@garnetandgoldgrace - I have been tested and tried to do immunotherapy, but had an anaphylactic reaction. I'm allergic to a lot of outdoor things and dust mites. Not sure what this allergist can do for me, but maybe I can get better meds. Sorry your throat is sore!
@doxiemoxie212 - Preseed is one of the few products that don't hurt sperm. And for some women who don't get wet (like yourself), it can help the sperm travel. I'm not a fan of it. It's sticky. Someone recommended a different brand awhile back and I need to go look it up and give it a try.

  • @doxiemoxie212 I use it just during FW because H doesn't get home til 2 am so we have to BD then and I'm not in the mood for any play before.  And regular lube isn't good for sperm.

@garnetandgoldgrace then I'd eat it after you get a big temp spike.
  • I love that this board doesn't just make me feel better about TTC stuff but regular life stuff, too. I always feel like such a weirdo when I get somewhere early and lurk in the car, but now I know I'm totally not alone!

@doxiemoxie212, we use Preseed and I'm a fan of it. I do use the applicators and it stopped feeling weird pretty quickly, though DH and I do still joke about my going into the bathroom "to prepare myself" before BD... I think applying it in front of him with those would definitely totally kill the mood!

@Augusta108 - You're totally right about the applicators "killing the mood," but it makes me mad. My brain says "My cervical mucas has the same consistency as egg whites = Better GDTPT" and MH can't even handle a little plastic applicator. Soemtimes I hate men.

  • @pebbledam My mom and SF have been planning to move down to my state for probably 6 years. My SF is from the area where I live now and has always wanted to move back - they even bought a farm down here that has been sitting empty all these years. They've been waiting this whole time because the farm they own up north (where I grew up) wasn't selling. They finally have a buyer and it seems pretty certain it will go through.
  • doxiemoxie212  I have been doing a bootcamp style workout class for over a year now, but earlier this year I was where you are, why I am not stronger after working out for a year. I found that I was being too cautious in my workout class in terms of weights and doing modified exercises. So one day a week I will make it my push myself day. So I will start with heavier weights for every exercise and will not do any modified versions of body weight (like pushups on my knees). I know I will only complete a handful with the heavier weights and switch back down to my normal weights to finish out the set/time. But I found that is making me stronger and I am getting closer to completing the set with the heavier weights. I also told my instructor this and he will switch out my weights for me if he thinks I am using to light of ones :)

@doxiemoxie212Yeah my FIL also smoked a lot of weed with pesticides and did other drugs and has a lot of issues, but Parkinson's is also a listed side effect of this drug he was put on. Also he had dementia when he was put on it so there are consent issues. But we couldn't do anything about it in the end. Either way Parkinson's is super shitty and I'm sorry about your dad.

Yes to what others have said here re: pre seed. Supposedly pre seed has this special PH or something that helps sperm travel. Regular lube kills sperm and there is some info out there about saliva harming sperm too [shakes fist at universe]. If you don't have time to get in the mood to GDTPD and you gotta make it happen, it's worth a go. Definitely agree to use the applicators in private--they're not sexy. Some people swear by pre seed and we hated it but were willing to use it if it did the trick but after a few months gave it up because I have other issues. But the info on it helping a lot of people is pretty solid so not knocking it for whoever wants it!
