Hi ladies. Thinking of everyone this Mother's Day! We had a great appointment on Friday. Baby is measured right on track and BPP was good. MFM wanted to start twice weekly BPP but I asked if we could just do one for now bc that's what I did w/ my other 2 and they agreed so I'm happy about that.

Hoping everyone one has a smooth rest of May! We are all getting so close!!

  • Glad to hear of some of the great news!!

Our original plan of having baby girl at 34 weeks on May 25th is back in place. My labs this morning didn't look wonderful, didn't look terrible/emergency bad, but didn't look as good as they did last Thursday. Just proof that pre-e can change fast.

I'm still pretty sad. Nobody wants a preemie, I do feel like my body has failed and pretty sad we won't bring her home with us right away.

She estimated to weigh 4lbs 5oz at my growth scan last week at 31w4d, so that sounds like quite a good size.

    2 Rainbow DDs L-10/26/10 and A-03/27/14
    2 Angels- 10/26/09 and 02/03/15
Surprise BFP on 10/25/16!!! Baby Firecracker is due on 07/02/17!
  • @LuLiLaEv AAHHHHHH!!!!!! I'm so elated for you!!!  This is such incredible news.  Hopefully you can feel more confident and relaxed and enjoy the last few months of your pregnancy.  I'm over the moon happy to hear this update.

@Dcwtada Hoping you get some good news this week, mama!

@lanie1000 FX for a good scan on Friday and no more fibroid growth!

@kghusker1003 Wow what a roller coaster ride.  I'm sorry to hear that your labs didn't give you good news.  You have every right to be sad and feel all the feelings.  I'm still coming to terms with having a micro-preemie/preemie as well.  If it's any comfort to you, there are sooooo many positive stories for preemie babies out there.  Does your hospital have a palliative care team?  We met with a member of that team from our hospital last Friday, and they will definitely help you find all the support you need.  They have social workers and therapists on staff.  They can give you ideas for stress relief.  Please take advantage of all the resources you can - that's what they are there for!  Good luck to you and keep us in the loop!

@acstec1 You are so strong, mama!  I've heard the pain from kidney stones is something else.  I'm glad you were able to pass one.  I hope the results of your urine test went well.

@JAM85 Woohoo for a good BPP!  Keep the good news coming!

@Stephande Sorry to have you join us :/ I hope your bed rest goes quickly and your LO continues to grow without issue.  Keep us updated!

Nothing exciting here, which is good! Had an appointment Friday with a quick ultrasound to check growth. Baby is in 72nd percentile, all is well. Counting down the days until school is out, just 8 more days. Hoping she'll come at 37 weeks like my last one.

  • So glad to hear your updates and that these babies are still baking! You Mama's rock for all that you each have done to take such good care of these babies and give them the best possible start. I watch this thread closely, but don't normally comment. Just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you, your more complex journies, and growing babies!
  • Mixed news today.  At my BPP on Tuesday the cord blood dopplers showed some absent flow, which isn't a good thing.  I had a growth scan today, and the baby is estimated at 665 grams (about 1.5 lbs).  It should have gained around 600 grams since the last growth check, but it's only gained 125.  So we are growing, just very, very slowly.  The dopplers were elevated, but not absent, so that is better than it was on Tuesday.  My OB decided to stay the course and not give the steroid injections today.  I go in next Tuesday for another BPP.

@SpongeWorthy Thinking of you too! Wish you had gotten some better news, but glad your Dopplers improved, even if just a little. Hopefully your next BPP is even better!

BP is continuing to climb for me, unfortunately. 158/98 &160/88, in the office so I got labs done and doing another 24 hour urine. My last 24 hour urine result was 282, so right under the 300 threshold. My NST was reactive and BPP was 8/8 so baby is doing fine with it as of now. I go Monday for another check and am on "modified bedrest" as best I can be with my 22 month old.

    Thinking of all you ladies!
  • @acstec1 How did your test go on Friday?  I'm sending all my calming vibes your way!

@kghusker1003 How are you doing this week, mama?  Thinking of you!

@SpongeWorthy unfortunately my BP continued to rise throughout the weekend, so on my recheck Monday, they changed my BP medicine (from procardia to labetolol). So far it's been working somewhat... BP is still high, but not as high, so I'll take it for now! The medicine itself makes me exhausted and super dizzy. I go back this Friday for another NST and BP check. My urine protein was 310 from Friday, but OB will check again Friday to see if lowering my BP has helped that. Still a lot of blood in my urine so my urologist thinks the stones are moving (hopefully out!!).

How are you doing? How was your BPP this week? Any new updates or are your OBs staying the course?
  • @acstec1 I'm glad to hear your medication is working for now.  Sorry for the new side effects.  Are you still on modified bed rest?

My BPP was good yesterday.  Baby passed with 8/8.  The cord blood dopplers show restricted but not absent flow, so we are staying the course for now.  I go back for another check on Friday.  I think DH is planning to come to the appointment with me, so that makes me feel better.  I got a little panicky yesterday lol.

@SpongeWorthy still on modified bed rest. Which, in and of itself is a little weird. I can go out to eat and go to the store but they don't want me carrying anything heavy. When I am at home I am just supposed to be resting with my feet up and doing no housework. It's hard with an almost 2 year old. Some days I have help from my mom and sister but sometimes it's just us.

Ill be thinking of you Friday and hope for good news! That's great your DH is able to come with you. I'm sure it is so scary to be by yourself and just not know what they are going to say this time. I'm glad he can be with you Friday.
  • Started my twice weekly NSTs last week with the fourth one today at my MFM. Turns out, I'm contracting every 2-3 minutes. Since I've never been pregnant before, I didn't realize these were contractions. Cervix is still closed so that's good. Gave a free catch sample for a UA to see if a UTI could be causing the contractions. MFM didn't really give much additional insight or plan beyond calling my regular OB if contractions continue at this rate. Feeling pretty alone medically :/

Endo appt tomorrow - actually feeling like just not showing up though. I had to reschedule and I'm not seeing my regular endo bc her schedule was full. I don't love this other doc and I'm very comfortable making changes on my own (so is my endo). Plus I have a $55 copay for all endo appts! :/

So equally ready to be done with pregnancy but not at all ready at only 33+4 to meet this LO! I'm sure all of you ladies can relate.
  • @TalesOfASocialIntrovert Wow that is a lot of contractions.  Sorry for the added stress.  Hopefully it's not a UTI.  Is being diabetic a risk factor for pre-term labor?  It's very strange that your MFM won't give you more instructions than to just call your regular OB.  I'm seeing an MFM twice a week as well, and I just switched over all my care to them so I don't have a regular OB anymore.  I figured they aren't the ones monitoring me and they aren't going to deliver my baby, so what's the point?  I hope you get some answers soon!

  • I was High Risk last pregnancy for Placenta Previa and anemia. I had frequent US and OB visits from 20w+ when they found the Previa. However, I've never had a BPP. Can y'all tell me what this includes? I didn't know I was going to have one until yesterday. I thought I  was going to the clinic for an US and NST. The nurse called yesterday and said they wanted me to go to the hospital I'm delivering at to do my US and BPP and go to the clinic afterwards for an appt and NST.

Right now I'm HR in supervision, I've been having BH contractions which are consistent but not painful which was the reason for the US and NST.

BPP is an ultrasound where they check baby and placenta to make sure everything looks ok and there is no distress. Hey measure 8 things and I can't remember all of them but I know they look for movement, breathing (or practice breathing), heartbeat, fluid levels, and placenta/cord.

Good luck, the nice thing is you get to see baby! The other ultrasound may be a growth one? The BPPs can take 15-30 minutes in my experience.
  • @SpongeWorthy - Being Diabetic does not predispose me to pre-term labor (just nearly everything else). No UTI so they have no idea at this point why I'm contracting. Cervix is still closed so at this point, they're going to continue with the current monitoring and have me call if contractions strengthen or I start spotting.

I saw my OB today and he assured me that my MFM sending me home meant he wasn't concerned. I still would have like some kind of plan though!

Also, my MFM won't be the one to deliver this LO, my OB will. My MFM also doesn't monitor my diabetes, my endocrinologist does. Bc of these things, I don't have a great connection with him. Their office is great and I love the ultrasonographers but I really have no bond to the doc. Love my OB though!

@mrsla0512 I second what @Dcwtada said about the BPP. They score 8/8 for breathing, tone, movement and amniotic fluid levels and then they combine that with The NST (usually) to make sure there is heart rate acceleration. They usually look at dopplers of your chord to make sure the flow is adequate. The BPP basically is making sure any is getting enough Oxygen. Hope yours goes well!
