  • @tvh1982 - thanks for starting this post! I've been meaning too since mine turned 6 months last Wed, but hadn't gotten around to it yet.  :)
  • @lajoliedreamer Try putting a towel in the tub. Have it hang a little out and down one side and in the bottom; this way LO is sitting on top of and against the towel. It should help with the sliding and allowing to gentle support sitting as opposed to the slip and slide event you have now.

    I hadn't thought of that, thanks for the tip!

    What about one of the inflatable bathtubs with the extra 'thingy' in the middle @lajoliedreamer
    I bought the following, haven't used it yet, but got advised by it from a friend.

  • when did your LO turn 6 months?

    April 23rd
    height/weight/clothing size?

    25 1/2 in, 14.10 lbs  She mostly wears 6-9 months but can fit 3-6 in most things.

    milestones?

    Sitting up unassisted, rolling everywhere, spinning around, loves eating solids, pulling up to stand with assistance, and I swear it sounds like she says mama :).

    what are LO's favourite things (toys, activities,etc)?

    Bath time, the pool, anything Mickey Mouse, and the bouncer.

    what is your biggest challenge?

    Sleep!  It has been such a struggle since the 4 month sleep regression.  On a good night, she is still waking twice.  I've tried to rock her back to sleep but she's not having it so I have to nurse.  Is it possible she really is hungry?  On a bad night, she'll wake up up to 5 times and its really getting hard on me.  Sleep training will be happening at the end of this month because I need some sleep.  What happened to those 8 hour stretches she used to do?? :(

    @ladybug2821 is yours wearing 6-9 because of length? My guy is about 14 lbs now and still fits in 0-3 though they are finally getting snug

    It really depends on the item/brand.  In the onesies from Carter's, she wearing 6 months.  But onesies from Walmart (Garanimals I think), 3-6 is more her size.  I got a bathing suit from Target for her in 3-6 and it was too small.  I think she's thin so I guess its just how the items fit her body type.  At this point, we only buy items that are at least 6 months.

    STUCK
    I thought Carter's 6 months size is the same as other brands' 3-6 months size. Is that not true?
  • @lajoliedreamer I'm not really sure.  I assumed they were 6-9 and I thought they're 3 months was 3-6.
  • Carter's is basically "up to" that size. So:
    3 = 0-3
    6 = 3-6
    9 = 6-9
    etc.

    Ohhh I didn't know that. So I guess she's mostly in 3-6 then but she's been able to wear 6 month dresses.
  • Had our 6mo checkup today, so ...

    when did your LO turn 6 months?
    May 1

    height/weight/clothing size?
    26 inches, 16 lbs 5 oz, size 9mo or 6-12mo

    milestones?
    Rolling all over the house, trying so hard to crawl, 2 bottom teeth poking through

    what are LO's favourite things (toys, activities,etc)?
    Rolling, talking, squealing, and making loud noises, going outside, peek-a-boo

    what is your biggest challenge?
    Juggling 2 little ones and living in a very small house where it's impossible to get away from one kid's noise while the other is trying to sleep, DD has been waking DS up a lot lately ☹️

    One of the first advice I got from other mums is that we tell small lies at the paediatrician @mrsmaryk2016.
    My lie for example was 'no I don't rock her to sleep' and 'yes she sleeps in her crib every night'.
    Id have no problem saying 'yes we've started solids' if that makes them happy.

    @RhodaMorgenstern I'm jealous she equates the song to bedtime. B used to do that when I could swaddle his arms in but for some reason when I had to stop that he also stopped snuggling up with a certain song and now it is just a crapshoot.
  • @kvruns I feel like bedtime is always such a crapshoot. The song works this week but next week it may not. It's the Good Night song by the Beatles so I think Ringo's fairly monotone voice helps a lot.

  • @m6agua I know! I was like :flushed: and slightly creeped out to think that there are obviously people who lurk and we have no idea about.

    I almost commented about that last night and decided against it because I don't want people jumping in and being nasty from all over the place (because now my paranoia has kicked in). But, hey, if you're a lurker and your baby is an N'16, come join us!

    when did your LO turn 6 months? May 12
    height/weight/clothing size? he just had his 6 month check up today and I don't remember height as I was too focused on his weight which is a measley 12 and a half pounds. He is in 3month clothing
    milestones? developmentally he is fine. Reaching all his milestones. Can almost sit without support. If he is laying flat he can almost sit himself completely up. Food isn't too high on his priority list but we are trying.
    what are LO's favourite things (toys, activities,etc)? he currently loves his exescaucer and listening to his sisters sing to him. He likes to sleep on his stomach and when he nurses now i find him trying to roll over which doesn't work so well but it's cute.
    what is your biggest challenge? Getting this kid to pack on the pounds. I had a mom guilt moment at the pedi office today. Apparently my breast milk is zero calorie... wish i could eat all day and never gain weight. I nurse him every 2 hours while awake so it's not like I'm not feeding him enough. He makes good wet and poop diapers. I don't get it. We officially have to supplement with formula for calories and I was told to "stuff his face" with as much food as he will take. It makes me feel awful that my body isn't producing what he needs like everyone else's body is. His Dr wasn't overly concerned because he is developing just fine and is hitting milestones. He sleeps consistently through the night. Having a mom failure moment. My husband just says "you're a good mom relax" which REALLY helps (eye roll).. I gave him formula today and he was spitting up the entire rest of the day. He has eaten it before when he was younger but hasn't has any in a few months so I'm sure he just isn't used to it but I'm stressing out now.
  • @leighry - if he's hitting the milestones and his diapers are good, you're doing a great job. My nephew was small like your LO, but started putting on the weight when solids were introduced. I'm guessing your guy will be the same.  And I understand your frustration with your body, I've had to supplent her with formula pretty much since birth. I've never made more than 3ish oz and it was emotional accepting that I wasn't enough. *hugs*
  • Also, follow your instinct. The dr doesn't know everything and even said he's doing fine. If you really feel like he is healthy the way things are, you don't have to supplement. My SIL chose not to supplement my nephew even though her dr recommended it, and now he's a healthy train-loving three-year old.
  • @leighry LO is happy and growing just not as fast. Don't feel guilty and focus on the positive! And in potentially strange strategies, does LO ever express wanting to be with everyone else? If so, maybe put him at the dinner table with everyone and put a banana in front of him. He'll see everyone else eatingnand potentially follow suit. Try not to be too hard on yourself - you're doing a good job. And I like to point out, he's been alive for half a year - that's awesome!

    Aww @leighry that guilt is tough. You've said your girls were small too, right? Wish my guy was still tiny so we could commiserate
  • leighryleighry member
    @lajoliedreamer and @SandNStarsNJ yeah I try and tell myself that since he is hitting milestones and seems like a happy kid I shouldn't be too worried or hard on myself. I guess I just went into the appointment thinking he was going to be over 13lbs and so when he wasn't that had me concerned too and just annoyed I didn't pick up on it at home. I'm hoping not to have to give too much supplements if he will start eating more. Maybe mix his oatmeal with Ben and Jerry's???? Haha

    @kvruns I'm glad your little man has started getting bigger! Yes my girls were all on the small side but looking back at their 6 month weights they were all over 13. So while I don't expect him to be huge I'm hoping at our weight check in a month he has gained enough to make his pedi happy. All my girls were like 17/18lbs at a year so I don't know. Maybe he will catch up soon.
  • kvrunskvruns member
    I bet he will catch up @leighry !  If it helps another mom I know said her son only gained 1 lb from 4-6 months. He was a bit bigger than yours but didn't gain much, but has been hitting milestones etc like a champ.
