Compression leggings or cuff recommendations

I have a bluging varicose vein in my left leg. It's painful sometimes and just plain ugly. Doctor recommends compression stockings but in the south it's too hot for that! I wear leggings normally so I am wondering if anyone has found a good pair of maternity compression leggings or cuffs for when I sleep.

I also fail to see how leggings are cooler than socks, especially when you're sleeping. If you really must have leggings, a friend gave me a pair that are really comfortable, I believe they're from A Pea in the Pod. But it seems odd to me to ignore a doctor's recommendation to take the advice of internet strangers who are mostly not medical professionals.

Stuck in the damn box. Wish I could gif.
  • I had bad veins before I got pregnant, so I've been wearing a compression stocking on my left leg for the past year. I just moved to the South, so I'm very nervous for this summer, but so far it's been ok. It's not ideal, but it's really not so bad. I get Sigvaris brand, which are great and come in a ton of different colors and styles. (You can even find tall athletic socks for working out.) The ones I get have are so close to my skin color that people don't even tend to notice I'm wearing them. But they are really not so bad, and it's so much nicer for peace of mind to know that you're wearing something that will help out your veins.
