pregnancy GTKY: what's your name philosophy? Hide it? Tell it? Tell it to only a few people? Other? I asked this selfishly....we have our names picked and they haven't changed in 9 months (boy) and 20 months (girl name) so we are pretty confident. I want to say names to claim them because I have a friend and cousin due near me and I don't want them to take the names we've picked out forever....I know they haven't had names picked out forever that I would be stepping on because my friend flat out told me and my cousin has had a boy and a girl in the past 2.5 years, so I feel like she's had her fair chance at first name choice lol. Even if we don't tell everyone, even just telling a few people so if they go first and take the name someone else can be like "oh they told us those names months ago!" If someone thinks we "copied"...now I feel immature for worrying about this lol

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO? he's patient with me and gives me a backrub at least once a day...either right when we wake up or before we go to sleep (or both!!)

@BigBadWolf12 Honestly, I wouldn't worry much about the name stuff.  There are literally thousands of names out there, and unless you're going off of the top ten baby name list of 2016, you're more than likely going to be just fine.  Are you finding out the sex at your a/s?

When is your next appointment?  Next month!

Cravings/Symptoms?  Nausea, not really hungry, but I think it's more anxiety related than pregnancy.  

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I blabbed everywhere about it this week, but the a/s was on Tuesday, and we're having a BOY!  Yay!  #boymom4lyfe

Questions?  What have your doctors said in regards to working out?  After the last one I saw said only do yoga and swimming (huh?), I asked the one I saw this week.  She said I can still lift, but to take weights down significantly.  I lift more this time around, I was more cardio based when I was pregnant with DS.  I've been adjusting weights lower as it gets uncomfortable, but they really seem opposed to lifting at all.  It's not like I'm doing competition size weights, so I'm confused by the opposition.

Other?  We couldn't decide for DS, and picked his name a week before he was born.  We didn't tell anyone at that point, as we were so close to giving birth.  I think we'll have just as hard of a time again, so it will probably follow the same pattern.

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO?  That we laugh together.  He makes me happy every single day.  Also, I love that he loves outdoor activities as much as I do.  We balance each other very well.

When is your next appointment?  We have an elective ultrasound on Saturday! I can't wait! (Our anatomy scan kind of sucked.)

Cravings/Symptoms?  No cravings, but my normal appetite has finally returned.  FINALLY.  New thing this past week is that if I walk too fast, I get a cramp on the left side of my bump.  I've always been a fast walker (DH calls it "city pace" from working in NYC) so slowing down actually takes a lot of mental work!  I'm trying to walk more often, so hopefully my bump gets used to the sudden onset of "exercise" (aka walking my dog).

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I'm so excited for 3D ultrasound on Saturday!  I wanna see my little guy!!

pregnancy GTKY: what's your name philosophy? Hide it? Tell it? Tell it to only a few people? Other?  I think we would be telling people if we actually had a name decided.  Since we're even wishy washy about the names on our list, we haven't shared it with anyone other than my best friend.  

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO?  He's freaking awesome.  He makes me laugh til I can't breath, I've actually developed a snort.  He's also one of the most thoughtful and cognizant person I know.  He's seriously the best.

@coloradohiker yes, the doc found out for us at the a/s on Monday and the answer has been sitting in a box ALL WEEK taunting me in my dreams until we can open it on Saturday when we three-way skype with our parents (and siblings!) to see if the boy outfit or the girl outfit is on top. can't wait!! My other cousin just had a kid and named her my original first choice for girl that I've had since I was 12. So it made me freak out for a minute ...lol

also, this should have gone in my rants....it better frickin' warm up here soon. My jacket won't do up all the way now...I want no jacket weather!

@BigBadWolf12 I wouldn't worry much about names either as I think the chances of someone else picking your name is not likely. Although I'm not going to lie, I have thought of names and I go " that is ___ daughter's name. I wonder if (friend) will think think I copied." So it does cross my mind. 

@ColoradoHiker My MW recommended that I walk but didn't recommend anything else. She also didn't say I couldn't do anything else. I used to lift heavy weights, and I remember looking into continuing doing it while pregnant. (I didn't stop because I got pregnant, I stopped before.) And from everything I have read, if you did it before you were pregnant it is safe to continue with some modifications and a decrease in weight. Also, that is for non high-risk pregnancies. Also, my friend ran marathons when she was pregnant. I think Dr.s are extra careful though about things like that. 

@juliebeannn I hope your elective ultrasound goes better than your A/S!

When is your next appointment? A/S on Tuesday (I become more and more anxious every day)

Cravings/Symptoms? Thankfully everything has been fading. And last night I actually felt normal, which I loved and hated at the same time. It only increased by anxiety because I thought "should I be feeling this good?" And I am desperately waiting to feel baby move. Sometime I think I feel him/her but I am not 100% sure and want to know for certain; it would ease my mind. 

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Still no "bump." It is forming but is still lumpy where my belly button is (like dips in), not how a normal pregnant belly looks.  

Questions? Has everyone started a registry yet or made baby shower plans?

But I'm not telling anyone names I am considering because I don't want to hear their opinion. Also, I've had several people already ask me names and I tell them I don't want to discuss it until DH and I talk about it. We have yet to talk about it...  My step-kids think I am rude but I don't want to hear their opinion about it either because "kids say the darnedest things." And this is how I get the title "evil step-mother."

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO? I love him as a Dad. He doesn't do everything right, but he is constantly learning and growing. And it's hard for us because we are the only set of parents that have rules. But he still enforces those rules, and also has my back when I am enforcing rules.

@dogdisnylovr I've got a little dip where my belly button is, too.  It's getting less noticeable with time but definitely still there.

Cravings/Symptoms? heartburn, tension headaches waking me out of sleep, acid tummy, tired/exhaustion, gagging in the am

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Excited to see bebe on the ultrasound next week. I had thought I had started feeling the bebe but the bigger she gets and the more my uterus expands it seems like I feel her less. 

My DH has been offered a new job and so now we are trying to decide if we should counter their offer. Including asking for 2 weeks unpaid time off around our due date so he could have a little paternity leave as he won't meet their requirements for fmla paternity leave.

Any free mama or baby boxes/gifts out there if we sign up for things?

We haven't picked one (the only one we can agree on is Soren)...but people sure do seem to ask about names we like...and then do an awesome job of butchering them. lol one person I said I liked the named Merrit to said like rhymes with Ferret lol. Oh well. 

I do totally get the claiming your name. I live in a small town and people have told me some of their possible names I think trying to claim them. Also wish I could get my hands on a preschool and elementary school yearbooks so I could see more names...so we weren't duplicating things recently done.Hard to name kids even similar names within a few years of each other as they all will attend the same school. 

Also my small town tends to name kids more out there names...so names you think would be unique and rare are more the norm here. 

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO? 
He makes me happy...he is just super kind and generous and polite. Just a really good guy..plus he is a bit weird in a good way (I think I am also a little weird in a good way) that keeps both of us amused. Also that he likes to travel and doesn't mind spending crazy amounts of time with my family as they are around all the time.

@ColoradoHiker My Dr. wanted me to walk at least 3x a week.  But didn't say anything to specifically avoid.  I did ~15 minutes of a prenatal yoga video on Prime this morning.  It was mostly stretching - stopped it before it got into more intense work, but I'd like to get there.  I really feel like my muscles have atrophied.

When is your next appointment? Sonogram this Wednesday & a/s this Thursday

Cravings/Symptoms? I've not been hungry in the evenings, which has been strange.  Also struggled with grocery shopping on Monday, similar to when I was in the first trimester.  I've been making DH do his own thing for dinner.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I spoke with some local leaders about my workload and what will be going on when I'm on maternity leave (My manager is in Europe, so I'll need support from local teams).  I left the meeting feeling like my job wasn't really important and that they'd just put all my activities on hold instead of having others support them.  So that was great.

Other?  We've told our immediate family and close friends our first name.  It is a very classic name and I feel like it would be super strange if someone was like "ew i hate that".   We are still deciding on the middle name.  I think it's a nice way for my parents to feel more connected.  They live ~7 hours away.

Cats*in*space that is a bummer about your work meeting. Maybe what they were really saying is that you do your job so well they didn't think others could cover adequately so better to just wait on the projects you are working on rather than have someone do it not as well as you would be able to do it?

When I mentioned I might ask for a 3rd month of leave (part time or just off) it was suggested that maybe I should look at the assistant job instead of the higher level job I am kinda in (and that they are talking about building as they possible add an assistant).

@BecauseLove Whooooa hold up.  Is your company large enough to fall under FMLA?  Are you actually in that role now?  They have to give you back the same job or something equivalent if you fall under FMLA - and it covers 3 months.  Please call them out on that.

AS tomorrow!  Woohoo we know what we are having already from genetic testing but sooo excited to see baby girl.

Still vomiting in the a.m. , but whatever it's no biggy.  Can't touch or think about chicken but otherwise all good in the hood.

Back pain is annoying but infrequent but bad when it happens so yeah that is sucking a little bit!

Totally thought we were cool with telling until we told people and then changed the name bc it happens to be the name of one of my DH's coworkers daughters.   Now everyone is less happy with our second pick and a bit annoying about it.  But whatevs they will get over it.

His dedication to all aspects of his life.  I've never met someone who truly give 110% to all things that they do and he surely does.

@dogdisnylovr We've started some registries, but haven't shared yet. My aunt is planning a couples shower for us in July.

How far along are you? 22 weeks

When is your next appointment? regular checkup in 2 weeks

Cravings/Symptoms? I really want a Chipotle burrito, so I think it's gonna happen today. No new symptoms, just getting more tired/winded carrying this growing body around.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Rant: DH has a man cold. I'm hoping it improves for the weekend. 

Rave: We're supposed to be going to a work party (if the man cold subsides) and I ordered a new dress that's super pretty/comfy that I'm excited to wear.

Questions? Still trying to decide which registries to go with to get the best perks. I want to consolidate before we share them.

We're team green, and coming up with 3 or 4 options for each sex. I try to explain that when people ask, that we're going to have a few options and decide when we meet them. We've only told people really close to us our fave names, but it helps since we're not narrowing it down ahead of time. I don't want to hear anyone's opinions, because we like what we like. 

NBR GTKY:  what is your favourite thing about your SO? Definitely his sense of humor. It's what brought us together and we laugh every single day.

Cats*in*space I don't fall under FMLA too small a org...but we do have some stuff in place to keep my job. It was more a suggestion of what I might want to pursue if I didn't want to jump back into things. We are possibly going to go through a lot of transition at my job this summer so it kinda puts everything in the who knows category.
