Awful dr

anyone else have an awful dr? Thank God for patient portal at my blood lab. They promised a week ago to call me with my results. They never did. They never even put them in my chart. My chart also says male. How do you screw that up? I have a sono scheduled in a few days. Once I get that I'm changing drs.

Definately, If you are not comfortable with your office switch.

But, you state that your lab has the patient portal.  Do you have patient portal for the Dr. Office too, are they connected? You talk about Patient portal for lab work but then say your chart is wrong.

Patient portal Is a blessing and a hassle at the same time.  Data is not necessarily placed immediately in patient portal. I've had it be two weeks after an appointment until the office visit info is placed in the portal.  It's not instant.

I have learned over the years, it does not give all details of your Dr. Visit, it's generic vs. What the actual doctor notes are.  I had an appointment where my patient portal notes were a few sentences and when I asked about their notes, they gave it to me and it was much more detailed.  I think a lot of it is for privacy reasons.

Sometimes, in any doctor setting, nonemergent phone calls get over looked.  It's frustrating for us, but yet they are extremely busy. That's why sometimes it's necessary to call and politely inquire.

I am not defending the office as I don't know your experience, but just some insight.  If you are not comfortable then switch.
  • definitely, change drs. this is no good to continue on with someone you do not find trustable or even competent. If I had issues with my dr I would've quit him and found another one. which makes me realize how lucky I was, i went to another country and still had a great experience working with their drs and managers.

@Tessa&Amirahsmommy if your only complaint is them not calling you with results (as long as there is no urgency, like everything is ok) the dr may not be so bad. I agree it's annoying but if you can call them to get the results, that would be the least of my worries. Sometimes good doctors may have mediocre people at the front desk.
But if there are other things about the dr that you don't like, by all means find another one.

Edited to add: my app is messed up, I can't get that semicolon out of your tag!
