TTC after 35

AMH/Estradiol/FSH levels

since I have an RE appointment next week I am reviewing the last CD3 blood test she did, which was 09/2016- so less than a year ago

i'm having a hard time finding if these numbers are considered low for my age - she suggested IVF after she reviewed everything but she seemed to push it more due to my age than the test results... any ladies here have a better idea of what the numbers should be vs what mine came back as?

Re: AMH/Estradiol/FSH levels

  • sorry I have no advice on the numbers.  I could look mine up from quest and compare.  I had mine in December.  I was told all was in normal range.  I'm sorry and this is my blunt opinion - you are not that old and I'm finding it shocking that she is pushing IVF.

@vlagrl29 honestly, i was surprised there was such a big push for IVF too... but i think she was looking at a couple of things, one was my age...but also it was before I conceived last Dec... DH & I had been NTNP for 6 years without a single "oops".... and she suggested there might be something going wrong at a cellular level with the egg and sperm meeting (i think we just were missing the right times since we weren't trying)..... this time we conceived once spontaneously so I know I want to do IUIs

i've also since lost 30 lbs (still have a long way to go) and got my blood sugar under control (i'm type 2 diabetic) which all could have been making it harder

  • That's all very possible. I believe you can get pregnant without IVF. Go figure it happened when you took a break.

Hello.  My AMH level 1.5  FSH is 8.7 and Estradiol is 38.  I'm not sure what the normal range is, but my RE said all my labs besides Vitamin D looked really good.  He said at AMH 1.5 I have plenty of eggs.  Quality, he couldn't speak for but I have lots. I am 36 by the way.

My RE didn't push for IVF but was open to doing whichever treatment we wanted.  The way he presented is that we could do IUI with a 10% chance, IVF with a 35% chance and IVF with PGS with 50% chance.  He said that chances of us conceiving on our own is still 4% despite all of our excellent labs.  DH and I decided to go aggressive.  Don't know if it is the right decision, but it is right for us at this time.

I told DH that I know we can get preg again by ourselves, but it may take a while and we want 2.    If I were 25, we would not be pursing IVF.

  • thank you @SP128 honestly if we could afford it, I would probably go for IVF... unfortunately it is just not something we can afford and my insurance will cover 6 IUIs - i'm just hoping we can make it work

  • @SP128 remind me again why you were only given a 4% chance to conceive naturally?

@amberruka if i recall correctly, i was told about the same percentage chance of conceiving naturally. my best guess, it's some outdated general statistic

@amberruka dr said because it's been a long time and we haven't gotten ku yet..... I don't think it's been thaaaaaat long. My best guess is also age.

I think the chances are better because all of our labs look great. With dh, dr was like "if you ever want to consider being a sperm donor..."

@Labluver2 you would think our eggs would have a gazillion boys to pick from.

  • go DH!! @Labluver2 @SP128

I think they just give you low percentages because you've come to see them to help you get pregnant.  All of our tests came back normal as well.
