Maternity Photoshoot?

Is anyone planning on having a maternity shoot? Our wedding photographer offers bump to baby packages and her photos are amazing BUT I still have so many photos from our wedding that I haven't even gone through/put up that I wonder whether I would actually do anything with them! STM did you do a maternity shoot/planning to do one and do you think they are worth it?

I'm a family photographer and do them. My opinion as a mom and a professional is absolutely get them done!

  • I had a maternity shoot around 39 weeks and I absolutely love them. Even if you just post of FB and see the memories once a year that is plenty.

If you have the time and money I would recommend getting them done.

As a side note if you want newborn photos then start planning BEFORE you deliver. I did not and we just went with the hospital photos (which were amazing) but if I had my $h!t together I would have done a newborn photo shoot as well.

  • I did them the first time around and I don't regret it. I didn't do much with them but it's nice to look back on what I looked like pregnant with professional photos. And yes, book newborn photos well beforehand.
  • @Ninak my sister took a few photos on a camera for me. I loved them and I liked looking back on them when I got pregnant again. I left it a little late at 37 weeks (??) and felt a bit large. So I recommend booking in when you're about 32-35 when the bump is nice but you don't feel like a whale. I'm looking to do photos again because I want DS to feature in this shoot. My friend is a budding photographer so I'm excited on getting some better quality photos. I totally want to do the whole flower crown thing this time. I think it's more worth it to invest in newborn photos if you had to pick. if you can pay for a whole package then go for it! It's so nice to have high quality photos to look back on.

  • I didn't and honestly don't really care. I did weekly bump photos but not something I wanted to spend money on.  I plan to do a nice newborn/family shoot once babe is here.  My good friend is a photographer and will sometimes offer to do pictures for in exchange for a bottle of wine so if she offers I may do that
  • I'm probably going to have one of my older sisters (both great photographers) take some 3rd trimester photos.  I am not a HDBD kind of lady, but I think something should be taken.  I really like the silhouette style photos I've seen.

  • Yes I loved having them done! Our photographer did a maternity/newborn package. I printed a couple out and posted several others. I plan to do the same this time.
