Help!

A little background... my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant with out first child for almost 4 years now. We've had 2 early miscarriages (over a year ago), two rounds of unsuccessful IUIs and we just found out that we're pregnant via multiple home pregnancy tests this weekend. I'm at about 4 weeks and a few days according to all the calculators and after waking up from a nap today my resting HR dropped a point (per Fitbit) and I had some spotting. I guess right now I just need some hope and prayers. I went into my RE office on Saturday morning to get blood drawn but they said I wouldn't get the results until Monday. I plan on going in again tomorrow to get more blood drawn. Has anyone else had this happen at this many weeks, did your doctors say it was normal? Any words of encouragement?

Re: Help!

  • Spotting in early pregnancy is very common. I think the rule of thumb (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is that if you're filling a pad an hour you need to be seen otherwise call your Dr tomorrow if you're concerned. Some people will spot their entire pregnancy and everything is fine :)

  • Thank you!! I'm just a huge ball of anxiety, I'm just so scared of having another loss!
  • That's completely understandable and I'm very sorry for your previous losses. Congratulations on your bfp and good luck with your blood work results tomorrow!
  • It's very normal to spot early on. Your uterus is now home to a tiny person and a lot of changes are happening. I had spotting early on with all three of my girls.
If the bleeding becomes bright red and resembles a period or heavier, and/or combined with cramping then it would be cause for concern and would be time to call your doctor immediately.
  • Will do, I didn't read the guidelines until after my posts but I have now so I'll try to be better at keeping it together. I'm not good at social media, I don't even have Facebook!!  :D
  • How are you today?
  • I'm better, thank you for asking. I went in for another HCG test and my levels quadrupled so that's good (it's the first time we ever got good news about HCG levels!) but I told the nurse I'd like to get another one on Friday for peace of mind. The spotting has stopped for the most part but now I've started having mild cramps. I keep telling myself that these things are normal but I'm just a ball of worry. They have me down for a sonogram on the 10th of May I'm sure I'll go in for more HCG tests before then.  :p
