  • Hi @yfr23! Welcome!
My sister and I are close to 7 years apart, and I loved having the gap. Plus, my parents loved having a built-in babysitter later on!  :D
  • Wow, @JuliaGoolia719, what a great rescue story. I'm glad that you and Isaac found each other!
  • msmeeseeks  thank you!  I think its a fun story too!  He literally trotted up to my car when I was at an inspection my first day of claims for that trip and I just melted!

  • @yfr23 Glad to have another mama with older kids on here!! I'm nervous about the age gap, my oldest is 8. But I think the gap isn't something to NOT go ahead and have the third we've wanted, ya know? I had my mirena taken out about 2 months ago, and just had my first real AF last week. I was surprised (and frustrated) it took that long to have hormones stabilize.

@Aliw220 - My mom is 1 of 9 kids (Catholic family....) and the youngest siblings have always had great relationships with the oldest. There was even less competition between those siblings because they were always at different stages of life. Don't worry about it too much. And I feel you on the the frustration with the post-birth control hormones.

Whooooops! Thanks!! Sorry. Let's try this again..

Ages (you and SO): I am 25 and DH is 27!

How many months have you been TTC? This will be our third month.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? Just purchased a CBFM and will start using it this cycle. So far we haven't really been "trying", just not preventing. It took us 11 months to conceive our DD (using opks, pressed, no alcohol or caffeine) so we're expecting the same for #2.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I'm  a SAHM to a beautiful 5 month old baby girl. She is our first and we are ready for #2! We want all of our kiddos to be close in age. My DH will be a first year resident physician starting in July of this year. We are high school sweethearts and have been together for 10 years!  As far as hobbies go I love lifting weights, cooking, movies, yoga, traveling, and being outdoors.

Finally out of posting probation! Ugh! I typed a whole intro and my phone only posted the first sentence!!! What I had said was, I am 25, SO 31. We were not actively TTC when we had a pregnancy "scare" and we were both really let down when we found out it was a false alarm so we realized we were ready!  I am currently on cycle day 77 as I have yet to see AF but can rule out pregnancy due to blood test and US.  So I am starting week 2 of my TWW to start provera to bring on AF so we can get to our second month TTC! We work at the same company, where we met, but in different offices.  We have a 3 YO and are in the process of shopping for our first home! Exciting days ahead, and I can't wait to get to know each of you on this journey!
  • Hi @kymamabird! It looks like you're on mobile and trying to use your phone's emojis in your intro. Unfortunately, they don't work on TB and just cut your post off from that point forward. Whomp. You can use the emjois in the app if you like! And once TB gets their butts in gear to fix mobile images, you can add internet memes and gifs to your posts too :) Happy bumping!

  • @snowhite91 - I'm in literally the exact same boat as you minus a few days. CD 75, on my 8th day of a 10 day course of Provera. Looks like AF is joining me this evening (yay!) Never thought I'd be so excited to see her haha. Keep me updated with your status!!

@sunniegrly that is crazy! I have searched the internet far and wide and have not found much of anything solid that explains it! It was the first month we stopped being safe and this happens! What are the chances.. I was SO sure this was it. Just can't wait to start the Provera and get this show on the road!
  • @snowhite91 - I'm trying to do a happy medium of research. Too little and I feel like I know nothing, too much and I start diagnosing myself with fertility problems I may not even have. Were you just coming off the BCP when this happened? I came off the pill and just never got AF. From my doc and internet research I've gathered that hormonal contraception can suppress your body's ability to produce hormones even once you get off of it and that could cause amenorrhea. I'm hoping that's what's going on with me and that it can be reversed. But then there's the possibility it could be caused by an underlying problem, which has me terrified and longing for the sweet relief of the anti-anxiety meds I can't take while TTC.

  • @sunniegrly - I don't know what kind of anxiety meds you were on, but most are class C and you can talk to your doctor or OB about whether or not staying on the meds is better than going off of them. I personally am choosing to stay on mine during TTC, but it's a personal decision. Saying that you are choosing to stop taking your anxiety medicine is different than saying you can't, if that makes sense.

@pebbledam - I should have clarified. The med was Xanax, which is Class D, and my psychiatrist insisted that I stop taking it at least a month prior to TTC. I'm sure there are other meds out there where, in individual cases, the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the child (Prozac is one of those for me) but I don't think Xanax is one of those drugs in my particular case. I should've said I'm not comfortable taking it.

  • @sunniegrly - You are absolutely right. I have a prescription for Xanax myself and have stopped taking it during the TWW because of the risks. I only take Xanax on a as-needed basis. I take Effexor daily, which is class C. Thank you for clarifying!

  • @sunniegrly I have heard that about the BCP.. however, I haven't taken any birth control in 6 years! I'm not sure what is going on exactly but I had crazy symptoms which seem to have subsided.  The dr is looking at PCOS as a possibility but I don't want to get worked up yet.. could just be a fluke cycle!
  • Ages (you and SO): I'm 33 (34 in June), Fiance is 35.

How many months have you been TTC? First month trying without the IUD.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)? PVN, OPKs, Temping, CM, Progessence Plus Serum (Young Living Essential Oil), Guaifenesin (but I take that normally before TTC), and RRL tea while WTO.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) We have a busy house. Haha. 12 year old soon to be Step Son who is with us every other week, a 1 year 5 month old, 3 cats, and 1 dog. I’m not a hobby person. I want to do things, and I buy the supplies to make the things, and then I either don’t do them or I start working on them and then stop because I’m not actually very good at crafting. Haha. Oh and the fiancé and I met while watching football at Buffalo Wild Wings.

@kymamabird hello!! I did the same damn thing! I typed a whole thought out intro and all it said was "finally out of posting probation" haha so now you all got the cliff notes version lol thanks for the info @LoveInDC :) I wouldn't have figured that one out!

    *edited for typos
  • @snowhite91 - No. I wasn't having ANY signs of having ovulated and they did a beta hcg test that came back <1 before i started taking the Provera. MINE TOO. So grumpy haha

  • @sunniegrly are you a heavy exerciser by any chance? The reason I ask, in late 2013, I stopped taking bcp (single AF and didn't need it) and I stopped getting my period. I went 8 months without a period. I was given meds to jump start it but they didn't work. After going through all the bloodwork, my GYN determined that I was working out so hard that my system had shut down. It can happen with bodybuilders or distance runners. This may not apply to you at all, but just wanted to put that out there. I ended up going back on the pill, by the suggestion of doc, and then swithced to Skyla IUD two months later. When I had it removed last year, I got my first period within two weeks. I'm still active, but at that point in my life I was doing Insanity in the morning then working out for another 2+ hrs after works Again, not sure if it applies to you, but could be something to look into. Good luck to you and all the other newbies!

  • @soldiersmom - I do very light weight training 2x per week and walk at a moderate pace for about 30-45min 2-3x per week, so I doubt that's enough exercise to have stopped AF. It was a good thought, though!! My BMI is 23.4 so I'm on the upper end of the healthy BMI range (and this is the top weight I've ever been in my life, so I haven't lost a bunch of weight recently or anything). That's interesting that the exercise did that to you, though!
