Re: Weekly Randoms- 4/17

  • @vflux33 ugh I'm sorry! That is beyond ridiculous that she continued to text you and not take a HPT, even after you told her to stop.

So on Wednesday I spent 2 hours on AT&T's website trying to order myself a new phone, and just got notified by email the order was cancelled. Apparently they can not verify my identity... I am seriously so frustrated. It took forever getting the darn phone ordered and now I have to call them (and probably spend yet another 2 hours) to get this all sorted out. :(

  • @vflux33 Ugh. Just no. Sorry you have to deal with her dramatics. And, holy crap she could just go take a test and NOT be KTFU and stop worrying about it

  • Thanks @AliW220 @darkrose88 @sunniegrly @RVAmom315 Ugh sometimes I feel like I am kind of hard on her but the fact is she is always been like this pulling people into her unnecessary dramas and I am probably partially at fault letting her get away with it for years. I think she's done texting me for today at least. Hopefully she will just get AF and send me an "oops my bad!" text and we can just forget this happened. I have to keep reminding myself she really has no clue what what I'm going through lately and doesn't mean to be offensive. Some people only "get" the things that happen to them.

@AliW220 I know! She lives a 5 minute walk from a bodega that I'm sure has HPTs and she just spent like 30 minutes texting me. She has time she would just rather have a little attention-seeking panic about it.
I was just thinking this. Some people would just rather indulge in hypothetical drama than get real answers. I don't get it. I'm sorry that she's not listening or being more sensitive to your feelings and your current situation. You are totally right that some people only "get" the things that happen to them.

  • @kbamomma33 Yeah, I don't get the urge to do that but I know it's common. I am pissed, but I know I'll forgive her tomorrow (unless she texts me about this again tomorrow). I know harm wasn't intended and she was just being careless. She does this kind of thing to me and our mom all the time--minimizing and dismissing our problems and forcing us to talk about hers. I should expect it but today it got to me...
  • Random dumb question.... While lurking in the Baby Names boards, I see a lot of periods used in the middle of the names. At first I thought it was used to separate syllables and then for a brief moment I worried that putting periods randomly in names was a new trend to make names more unique, but that's clearly not it. Can someone enlighten me?

  • @vflux33 Yeah, I get it. My mom does the same thing- minimizing everyone else's problems but wanting to talk about her own. While it's totally draining, I don't feel like it's maliciously intended. I agree- it's better to just forgive and let it go most of the time. Though I, of course, see why this particular time stings a little more for you.
  • My brother is getting married in May, and so far everything having to do with their wedding has been a train wreck. The bridal shower is tomorrow, which I am hosting along with the bride's sister, and my future SIL seriously just got mad when I mentioned in passing that I planed to wear a dress tomorrow. She said she wanted to be the only one wearing a dress. She never mentioned it to anyone before just now. Has anyone heard of such a bridal shower dress code before?

  • @Cricket648 Your FSIL is just being ridiculous and a bridezilla.  Other people at my shower were wearing a dress and I had no issue with it.  How is she going to keep all of the guests from wearing a dress?? I say wear whatever you want and if she gets pissy deal with her wrath later.

  • @vflux33 not much more to add than to just block her for now (if you have an iPhone put her on DND). That's super rude of her especially since she knows about your struggle.

@Cricket648 um what are you supposed to wear then?! Please go in full Daisy Duke with the cut off shorts, tied plaid shirt and cowboy boots :D but seriously...it's an occasion that calls for a dress...

  • @lulu1180 I think almost everyone at my shower wore a dress. I would expect that most of the guests will be in dresses. My mom agrees that I should just wear a dress.

@50Wife Hahaha you post had me rolling!

@mschanandlerbong1214 My thoughts exactly! Man, I'm getting some great wardrobe advice from you guys!

@justkeepswimming8 That sounds like so much fun!

@Cricket648 Uh wut? Wtf does she expect people to wear?? Most women wear dresses to wedding showers. I get maybe wanting to be the only one wearing a white dress (which is what I wore at my shower) but to be the only one wearing a dress period? She's out of control.

@justkeepswimming8 omg I'm so sad I didn't think of making everyone wear ugly bridesmaid dresses. That would have been awesome. I had a tea party with fun hats though for mine.
  • I've decided that my plan for tonight is to drink wine until I'm not mad about this anymore.

@JJMNO1616 Not waning anyone to wear a white dress would be totally reasonable. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks she's outrageous.

  • @sunniegrly I'm not from the deep south, but my grandmother only owns one pair of pants, so it's safe to say that she'll be in a dress tomorrow. I, too, have pretty much always worn dresses to bridal showers. For a second I thought maybe this was a new trend or something. Glad to know it's not!
