How are my SCH ladies doing?

How are my fellow SCH ladies doing? For those that have had their SCHs resolve have you resumed normal life without any problems? Any issues coming off pelvic rest or starting excercise? For those that still have them any progress?
I had a doctors appointment yesterday and my SCH shrunk about 50% in 3.5 weeks and is now 3cm x 2.4 cm. No major bleeding in a month and even my spotting stopped about a week ago.  the sch is  showing a lot more clotting too so my doctor was very pleased. I of course would prefer it gone but was happy and doc OKed me for slightly more activity...,still pelvic rest and no working out but dont need to be housebound as much. So fingers crossed that it continues to shrink and it's gone by my 20 week scan! Most important baby boy is great! I hope you all are doing well. These SCHs are so scary and really make it hard to relax and enjoy the pregnancy. Even if it resolves I know my fear will remain until I'm holding my little boy in my arms.

Re: How are my SCH ladies doing?

  • So funny story. I do not currently have a SCH. However, the other night my DH and I were looking online at a US report from my last pregnancy and we read this..."5.7-cm probable subchorionic hemorrhage nearly completely around the gestational sac" the report ended with "follow-up recommended". I had no idea until I just read that! I did have quiet a bit of spotting but everything turned out just fine. I even ran and worked out through my entire pregnancy. I guess ignorance is bliss. I hope everyone elses are just as harmless.

  • I had some bleeding at 15w 2d on Tuesday.  After an ER visit, they found a 2 cm SCH.  I saw my doctor on Wednesday morning.  I didn't feel as worried having read through some of the SCH thread on here.  Doc did not freak me out at all, and said that mine was on the small side, which is good.  My bleeding has slowed and is becoming darker red/browner as the days go by.

Doc is hopeful that it will go away quickly, but put me on modified bed rest until it does.  I'm a teacher and this coming week is spring break, so I'm thankfully not missing as much work as I would otherwise.  I had an appointment already on Monday, so I'll go in and get checked out.  I hope that they'll do an ultrasound next week sometime to see the progress.

Does anyone know once this is resolved if it's possible/likely for it to come back during this pregnancy?
  • I have an appt on Thursday and am hoping that my SCH is now completely gone. I've been back to work for 3 weeks now and the only issue I had was some very mild brown spotting when I wiped last week (only for a couple of hours). I didn't call my OB or anything b/c I knew that brown isn't bad, but I'll mention it to her at my appt. Mine was very close to being resolved so I hope that was the last of it.

I'd say my life is mostly back to normal. I am on my feet a lot at work and do some heavier lifting at times, so by the end of my shift, I am usually pretty tired and put my feet up when I get home. The only exercise that I have done lately is walking. I've been apprehensive about "doing the deed" so that's another question I was gonna ask at my appt. My poor hubby...Lol.

I'm glad to hear that everyone's SCH's are starting to resolve. And sorry @JessDG I don't know the answer to if they can come back. I hope not!!
  • Last checked my SCH is about the same size but I haven't had any bleeding since it happened at 6 weeks (15 weeks now). The SCH is opposite of where the baby is. The docs are not concerned so I am not worrying about it. Just focusing on staying as stress free as I can during the pregnancy.

  • I was lucky and had no bleeding.  I had a follow up ultrasound at 10 weeks and it was pretty much gone so I'm not having anymore follow ups.  I was never on restriction or pelvic rest so just continuing with my normal workouts and everything.  My doc didn't even mention it at My 12 week
  • I had an ultrasound at 10w4d (I'm 12 weeks today) to check on the two SCH's I had, and during the scan the tech said she couldn't see one by my cervix and that I still had the fundal one (up high and back). Fast forward to when my OB read me the report, and the report doesn't make mention at all of any SCH. I haven't had any spotting in about three weeks. I'm going to ask for one more follow up ultrasound because I need to know if both SCH's are gone so I can start exercising again; I've been on pelvic rest since my huge bleed at 7w2d.

How is it the opposite side of the baby?  Do you mean opposite side of the placenta?

  • So glad to things have been good and uneventful for everyone!  Let's home the positive momentum continues for all of us.

@Sparklelily, that is a pretty amazing story! Yes, ignorance is bliss.

@JessDG, I don't know how likely they are to come back once resolved. I hope not very likely but in researching this I have read that some women have them resolve and come back. Hopefully that is not us! I do think more often than not they don't come back.

@ezavasky I know what you mean about being scared about doing the deed! I'm not even able to yet because my sch is still there but I know even when it resolves I'll be petrified. It might be a while for poor hubby!

  • My SCH cleared up pretty quickly. My bleeding also stopped as soon as I stopped progesterone. I was never put on pelvic rest or told to limit exercise so I kept everything the same. I hope nothing shows up again in the future. Thinking of you ladies whom are still dealing with it.
  • Had some pinkish spotting this morning after a BM...Ugh! Debating if I should call my OB today since I have an appt tomorrow or if I should just wait.
  • Ugh! I'm sorry @ezavasky good luck today and hope it's nothing.
  • Thanks @sophiakam, Dr thinks it was from straining (stupid constipation) and wasn't concerned. Baby is looking great and measuring right on target. She also said it looks like the SCH is still around but small and not anything to worry about. So...hopefully no other issues!
