    HBP
Any additional monitoring or testing this week?
Still just monitoring my BP daily. My anxiety drove me to do an elective ultrasound yesterday. Little guy looked so great and was really busy in there. Hopefully now I can make it to my anatomy scan on the 21st.
    Any concerns currently?
    None right now.
Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
    A good anatomy scan!
GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
I would head outside and take a walk with my dogger.
  • @DPandMB What type of meter and lancet device do you have? I check 8-10 times a day but on my forearms, where there are less nerve endings so it hurts less! You need a special cap for the device, it's usually clear. Check with your doctor's to see if it's okay to do that, typically low blood sugar is "lower" in the fingertip than the forearm so they recommend checking the finger if you're low.

  • Hi everyone I'm new this week!

    How far along are you?

    19 weeks

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk?
I have a small placenta tear and I'm on bed rest right now due to bleeding.  I'm at risk for preterm labor, the baby may not get enough oxygen and nutrients, or we both could potentially hemorrhage. OR it could heal which is what I'm trying to focus on but it's been a really difficult morning.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? No just staying horizontal. (Except for my 4 hours a day I'm allowed up).

    Any concerns currently?
Well I just want the baby to be okay, I'm concerned about everything.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
    Just for my baby, thanks!

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
    Get ice cream
  • @Sugargirl1019 that's neat. I didn't know that was an option. I have a freestyle device. I'm still trying to figure out where on the fingers to stick. Sometimes I hardly feel it, then other times it hurts real bad and leaves bruises.

@DPandMB Hold your finger in front of you, fingerprint towards you. The most nerve endings are at the very top by the nail, and straight down the middle in the nice squishy part. If you check on the sides of your finger (with only a tiny bit of squishy), it should technically hurt less.
Freestyle is approved for alternate site testing.. double check! ;)

@Breath_Easy92 I'm sorry you have to join us, but I'm glad you're posting!! How's the spotting recently?

How far along are you? 19 weeks

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk?  Type 1 DM, MTHFR

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Nope.. but AS next week!

    Any concerns currently?
Actually yes. I'm worried about my thyroid. I trad something about elevated TSH causing brain problems? I started out at 1.9.. then when it was checked next it was 5.5. Next month it was 3.5. I don't have confidence it will be better and that baby has been seriously affected by it being this high. We've increased by two different doses already and it's being really stubborn and I'm worried.

Also, my blood sugars are showing signs if changing. I spike overnight and in the morning now. I've had to increase my basal rates and I'm wondering if my insulin:carb ratio needs to increase as well. Booo there goes my 5.8 A1c!

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?

That baby's brain is okay from the high TSH level. I'm just concerned it wasn't treated aggressively enough.

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
I usually go outside and sit on the patio and enjoy the sun. Bring the dogs to the dog park. Simple!

@Sugargirl1019 so far it's been great in days I don't do anything at all. But it resurfaced when I went to class Tuesday (which my OB said was okay to do) I'm going again today and I'm super nervous though. I got up a hour early so I could lay back down after getting dressed and thing plus my dad offered to drive me so I don't have to walk though the parking lot. Hopefully that will help.

I love taking my dog to the park too only right now I have a shy pup. He always hides under the bench unless all the other dogs are pretty shy too lol.
  • @Breath_Easy92  I have one that lays on the bench with all the humans to get pet, and the other chases after other dogs barking like a lunatic if they come near me. He's very protective lol. So opposite.

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk? Just adding myself this week. I have a complete placenta previa.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Just had u/s today, and now every 4 weeks.

    Any concerns currently?
Super nervous, and if it doesn't resolve (which is sort of rare), I have to have a c-section.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
No bleeds (or else bedrest and I have a young child) and to make it until 37 w!

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
I live in Texas, so the weather is usually pretty good. So,we spend a lot of time outside.
  • @sbl0609 welcome! I'm sorry for the placenta previa. I hope it resolves! Come on placenta!  Plenty more weeks for it to move though :)

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk? Joining high risk for the first time this week, I am at risk for preterm labor due to short cervical length.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Just had an ultrasound and OB appt today, and my cervix has not shortened any further in the past week (after going from 2.9 cm to 2 cm in the previous week and then starting progesterone and reduced activity for the past week)! After being checked 3 weeks in a row, I now get to go two weeks without going to the doctor.

    Any concerns currently?
Feeling good after today's appointment, but there's still a long way to go to full term, so hoping things can remain stable.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
    Continued stability.

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
Usually go for a walk outside in a nice location.

@sbl0609 I had a marginal placenta previa at 14 weeks, and the ultrasound report said chorioamniotic membranes spanned across internal  cervical os, whatever that means? It's been six weeks and my 20w a/s is tomorrow so we'll see if I'm in the same boat as you. I hope yours clears, I've heard that the placenta can migrate even later in pregnancy.

    How far along are you?
    20w tomorrow

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk?
I've been avoiding this board and trying not to dwell on what could be/go wrong, but because I have my anatomy scan coming up its back on my mind. Late first trimester bleeding and placenta previa.

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? Yes. My 20 week ultrasound, we'll be specifically looking for placenta location, cervix length, and any fetal abnormalities.

    Any concerns currently?
I'm not that concerned about the placenta or cervix, because I've been active the last few weeks and haven't had any issues. I am concerned about fetal abnormalities, we declined genetic testing, but because of my first trimester symptoms there may be a chance something is off with baby.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?
The strength to handle whatever God's plan is for me and my family.

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
Brand calves. It is like Christmas on the ranch. The whole family gets together and we ride horses, gather, sort, and work cows. We have a big BBQ and a lot of fun! This year we had four little girls there and I can't wait to add another kiddo next year! (My role was babysitter, no horse riding for the pregnant lady with placenta previa).

  • How far along are you? 18+2

Give us a refresh: why are you high-risk? Labeled as hypertensive again

Any additional monitoring or testing this week? No, I had an appointment yesterday where they labeled me due to one high reading but other tests were normal.  I'll have 24 hour urine catches and NSTs regularly after 24 weeks, and possibly an extra ultrasound at the end to check growth.

    Any concerns currently?
Not really. I had the same diagnosis with DS but never spilled protein, never swelled, and never had any of the complications of true HBP or Pre-E like they said I was going to have.  I'm hoping nothing eventful happens again this time around.

Anything I can pray for you specifically about right now?

GTKY: What do you usually do on the first warm day of the year?
Hiking! We love to be outside and luckily DS does too.
