Waiting for my ultrasound appointment after drinking the appointed 48oz of water 1 hour prior... I think my eyeballs are floating. Good lord, this is cruel and unusual punishment! How did y'all distract yourselves during this trying time?
I had to empty my bladder before my transvaginal. And my instructions for the NT scan abdominal say 16oz a half hour before. I can't imagine holding 48oz! (And right now, I'd probably just throw it up.)
When I went to my first one with DD, they told me to drink the water in advance, then when I got there with my bladder practically bursting they told me I didn't really need to.

Haha I've been thinking about this with the NT coming up. They say drink it in advance, but how long might we be sitting in the waiting room, where there is undoubtedly a water cooler? I need to pee every 20 minutes as is. I don't see myself drinking a couple of glasses of water at work, then traveling to the hospital, waiting, and not be in agony.
Wow!! I have had 3 and haven't had to drink anything yet... They were all transvaginal though. I don't need to drink water until my next one at 20 weeks
That is odd. I have a transvaginal ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow. They said to be hydrated, but that I didn't need to have a full bladder or to drink a certain amount.
I had to have a full bladder for my abdominal which made me very restless in the waiting room but luckily they were right on time and I forgot how badly I needed to pee once I saw itty bitty on the screen. After my abdominal I emptied my bladder for the transvaginal.
I had a transvaginal at my first appt so they didn't need a full bladder for anything other than to pee in a cup for them, so I just walked up to the window and told them if they wanted it, to go ahead and give me the cup now.

My NT is scheduled for next week and the instructions didn't have anything about a full bladder. They do want us to come 30 minutes early though, so maybe they'll have me drink then!

I've never had to have a full bladder until the anatomy scan, but it is bruuuuutal. I actually ended up switching insurance so I could go to a different hospital and doctor my first time because the agony of dealing with traffic, terrible parking, and finding the right ultrasound office at a hospital with terrible signage while desperately needing to pee was the last straw on top of all of my other grievances at the time.
Hmm that's weird..they had me pee before mine. Is it your dating ultrasound? I've never been asked to have a full bladder
It was, but our hospitals around here always start transabdominal, and then I got to pee before the trans-vaginal. If they can see everything they need abdominally, they don't do the trans-vag. Of course I was too early for abd to show much but I had to go through it anyways, lol.
I have had 4 ultrasounds (2 v and 2 a) and didn't need a full bladder for any.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
