    1. How many weeks are you?
8!  Like seeing that fruit change!

    2. How are you feeling?
The last couple of days I've felt like I've been hit by truck - I'm wiped and nauseous and I've been consuming carbs whenever I feel like I can take it - its the only thing I feel like.

    3. Any appointments this week?
Nope.  And my next will be an ultrasound between 11-12 weeks.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
DH got me sour patch kids the other night - they actually did help a little.

    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme?

I have a nursery already from DS2 who now shares a room with DS1.  I don't really need anything but if it's a boy I might change things up a little for a Paddington bear theme.  If it's a girl (I already feel like it's a boy) then I have no clue - I'll cross that bridge when I have to.

  • I go here now! EDD changed to 11/10.

    1. How many weeks are you?

    9!

    2. How are you feeling?
Tired and nauseous. Rinse and repeat. RLP is no joke lately, though. It's been bothering me at work with constantly running and moving people around.
    3. Any appointments this week?
We had our dating US and initial blood work this Wednesday. Next appointment is first week of May.
    4. Rants, raves, questions?
I had heard that our facility doesn't do VBACs and I was ok with that. My OB brought up whether I would be interested in one, since my first was a section due to being breech and high BP. He was super evasive about answering the questions I had about the risks. He gave me the 1% speech, but when I asked him how many he has done and how many have ruptured, he glossed over each question and didn't answer me. I'm also kinda worried that he is immediately sending me to a high risk OB for my anatomy scan, but better safe than sorry? I just feel like he is already labeling me as high risk when not necessarily will I be this time. I have primary hypertension this time going into pregnancy, but had an irritable uterus, pre-e, and issues with the placenta last time. That doesn't mean I will indefinitely this time. I don't know! I'm ranting, I suppose  :/
    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme?

DH has been adamant about moving, and I've been kinda blah about it. Now I'm for it, so I'm not sure what our plan will be. If we stay in the house we are in now, I will just make DD's room into the nursery and flip her into a bigger room. That's as far as I've planned!

@Roliepoliecoley4 - Might be an unpopular opinion but there are significant risks with VBACs and your Dr's job is to ensure the safety of you and baby first.  I've had 2 C-sections and after my first CS my Dr told me my birth canal is too narrow and irregular in shape and so I would never be a candidate for VBAC.  I'm happy that we have the medical technology to keep us both safe and healthy.  My Aunt is also a labour nurse and has seen women push for VBACs and have things go horribly wrong so I think from the medical field they are going in with a different perspective.

  • @2Dash I'm in the medical field, and I know the risks. I'm just weighing my options, at this point. I didn't even think it was an option until two days ago!

I had talked about VBACs with some of my coworkers and they are all adamantly against them. The worst code they've been involved in was a VBAC with a ruptured uterus. I'm kinda leaning away from it, but it doesn't hurt to do research in the meantime. I just wish he had been more forthcoming about his actual experiences.

  • 1) 10 weeks today.
2).  Pregnancy wise, I am just a little tired.  I have caught my kiddo's stomach virus though and at this particular moment I want to die.
3). I had an appointment Tuesday.  It went well.  I go back for NIPT next week, and a regular OB appointment the 1st week of May.
    4).  Nothing yet.
5).  We are considering a Harry Potter nursery.  I believe we are going team green so we need something gender neutral.

@av2323 - stomach virus is the worst feel better.  My DS1 LOVES harry potter - so fun!

  • Hi ladies! This is my first time on the ticker-change thread.

@2Dash I love your Paddington Bear theme idea!
@Roliepoliecoley4 I'm sorry you have to deal with navigating the VBAC concerns and that you're not getting straight answers from your doctor. That sounds so frustrating.

    1. How many weeks are you? 7 weeks today!

    2. How are you feeling? Happy, but not so great physically. I've had a lot of nausea and am always so tired.

    3. Any appointments this week? Had our first ultrasound on Monday and saw the heartbeat, and last night we went to a group class our practice puts on for people in their first trimester, which was nice. Repeat ultrasound next week.

    4. Rants, raves, questions? Nothing at the moment.

    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme? I guess animals? I'm just planning to put some framed pictures of animals on the wall. And for color palette, I'm thinking white and soft gray.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
9 Today! I was able to see the HB again today and I am over the moon that I am still here!

    2. How are you feeling?
Nausea is still breaking thru the meds, but I am eating more and keeping that so I feel like that is good! I have passed to big clots in the past two days if you have not seen my posts so I feel like I am walking on egg shells until my next appointment

    3. Any appointments this week?
I see a new High Risk doc on Wed this week. I am excited to be able to see him along side my OB and only be transferred to another facility it absolutely necessary for me and or baby!

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
Hmm... I guess I do not really have any this week.

    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme?
The baby will share rooms with us until he/she sleeps through the night and then he or she will go in with a same gender sibling. I want to use gray and navy with anchors (we live in a coastal area) for a boy and and a pretty flower pattern for a girl.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 10 weeks

    2. How are you feeling? The past few days I feel like I've rounded a corner as far as nausea goes. @Av2323 or @Roliepoliecoley4 Either of you feel the same? Between 9 and 10 I've started feeling better overall and I know I should be happy but it worries me!

    3. Any appointments this week? None until April 26!

    4. Rants, raves, questions? Just what I mentioned above. Also, this has felt real for a while now, but being 1/4 of the way there makes it feel really real :o

    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme? I don't know if we will have a theme necessarily, but I would like to incorporate fish, motorcycles/airplanes and Dr. Seuss. Random I know!

@YesOuiCan What did the class cover? I think my practice does something similar but I'm such a bonehead I haven't followed up on any of it yet.

@2Dash Bought a big tub of sour candy last night and I'm pretty pumped about it.

@Roliepoliecoley4  I wonder why your doc was trying to gloss over your questions? Is he your regular OB?

    1. How many weeks are you?
    9!
    2. How are you feeling?
Good - so good, in fact, that it prompted the u/s I had this morning (which went well!)  <3 I haven't had many symptoms since about 7 1/2 weeks, sore Bbs is most notable. I've had food cravings but my aversions mostly went away (though it seems like my cravings are making me avoid some food types, so sometimes the line is blurred between craving and aversion). My doctor just says I'm just lucky to not have more nausea.
    3. Any appointments this week?
Had my initial nurse check-in yesterday and met my OB/had an u/s this morning. Next appointment is May 10th, no u/s again until week 20. Will go in in 2 weeks to have the Maternity21 testing, one added benefit is that we'll find out the gender a bit early (we're not team green. We both kind of want a girl - we LOVE my niece - but we both think it's a boy!)
    4. Rants, raves, questions?
Rave: DH is amazing! He does so much around the house normally anyway but he always asks if he could do other things for me. He was so excited at the u/s.
Rant: My nurse yesterday couldn't tell me what tea to avoid (chai?), or whether I should feel comfortable gardening. She essentially told me to google it. Then she said "well, if you don't have any other questions that I can't answer..."
    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme?
No, we haven't even decided which room will be the nursery  :# Our house is lovely and in a great location but it's not wonderful for having a LO - master is upstairs and other bedrooms downstairs. LO will definitely be upstairs with us for quite some time. Currently have a guest room and office downstairs - will likely combine those and dedicate one to the LO, but - when?? Advice appreciated if you have thoughts! Full nursery right away even though they'll stay upstairs for awhile? Might be best to do before they're born while we have more time? Would we get enough use out of their nursery even with them staying upstairs mostly? Unsure!

  • @ebelknap  I do feel much better.   I had an OB appointment last Tuesday and I told her that is was freaking me out because I felt so good.  She just said to enjoy it!
  • car1acar1a member
@2Dash Sorry you haven't been feeling terrific. I've been eating more carbs than usual too, like "comfort food" carbs. Love Paddington Bear!
@Roliepoliecoley4 Same EDD! Did recovery from your c-section take quite some time - is that one of the main draws for considering a VBAC?
@av2323 Hope you're feeling better soon! Sick just in time for the weekend  :|
@YesOuiCan Welcome to the new ticker change day! I'm also thinking about the white/grey theme - looks nice in so many of the nursery pictures I've been seeing. It's fresh looking and goes easily with SO many other colors.
@cottingham3 I'm still really happy that you had good news this morning! Are they planning another u/s for Wednesday or just a general check-in?
@ebelknap As you may have read, my symptoms have decreased lately which was pretty concerning to me, but I checked out fine today. The baby should be taking over more of the hormone production/regulation which is what eases symptoms around this bend. My symptoms don't really "come and go" as others have reported, they were just there and then largely removed themselves from the picture with no return! I'm trying to be thankful.

  • @car1a Thank you!!  I think there is a good chance I might get a another sneak peak at the HR doctor on Wed. From what I have heard the doctors likes to scan you himself. Its really neat, it think, that this clinic is located across the street from my practice and in the hospital I will deliver as long as I go past 34 weeks. I get the care of a specialist without having to give up my regular Ob and they work together! I think you will use the nursery more than you know like for diaper changes, storage of clothing/equipment/toys, and maybe a place to nurse if you choose that route. We live on a single level and I typically move my kids once they start sleeping through the night. However, that might change if they were on another level? not sure?

  • 1. 7 weeks
    2. Tired. Queasy, but I feel better with eating.
    3. No appointments, but did do my blood draw today.
    4. Rave: 2.5 y/o DD made it through grocery shopping without a potty accident!
    5. Not sure on nursery yet. This is something I was crazy about with DS and DD. But now we are out of bedrooms. Baby will stay in our room for approx 3 months, so I guess more decisions will be made when we know boy vs girl.
  • 1. How many weeks are you?
    6!

    2. How are you feeling?
Super tired all the time. I'm starting to get a little queasy after I eat so I am either ravenously hungry or slightly queasy. There is no middle ground.

Also, I cried a little bit this morning when I read that baby is the size of a pea. Just two weeks ago it was a poppyseed and it's come so far!

    3. Any appointments this week?
    Not yet.

    4. Rants, raves, questions?
When we found out I was KU I decided not to go to a big swim meet with my team this weekend. While I've been ok exercising, two days of pushing myself to my limits didn't feel like the right decision. I feel a little sad about missing out, but I've made my peace with it.

However, I registered for this a while ago and told the team I was going. So now I'm telling them all I'm sick and I feel rotten lying to people I like.

    5. GTKY: Have you thought of a nursery theme?
FFFC? I don't really understand elaborately decorated/themed nurseries. Not knocking anyone who does it, it's just NMS.
  • @ebelknap I still have awful nausea, but hoping to be rounding the corner soon. He was not my OB for my first (I work for a different hospital, so different insurance), but he is one of two that I trust the most to perform another section.

@car1a Recovery for me was not bad at all. That honestly isn't what is holding me back from having another. It's just the thought of having major abdominal surgery which comes with it's own risks. There is just so many things to consider on both sides.

Selfishly, I would like to have a real birth story beyond saying I showed up at 5:45, was in surgery by 9:15 and she was pulled out of me at 9:45. But having a birth story isn't going to be part of the decision when choosing what is the safest option for me and baby.

@Roliepoliecoley4 As a FTM I haven't given an ounce of thought to a c-section, will likely learn more about it later on in case things don't proceed as-planned and that's the route that is best. I bet that when you're in labor the risks associated with the abdominal surgery are not the most pressing issue at the time, but it's interesting then to be in your position where you're having to weigh these risks in advance. It's unfortunate that your Dr isn't being more forthcoming with his comfort level and statistics.

@swimsister I'm also not sure how much I'll do for a nursery - might just convert the guest bedroom to the baby's room but not redecorate it much, perhaps purchase different decorations as the LO gets older and has preferences (animals? certain themes from books they love? etc.) I'm very challenged in terms of decorating/interior design so that plays a large role!

I'm feeling a tiny bit better. New meds for the HG and i am not dehydrated.
    No appointments.

Baby Jogger Premier vs Bugaboo Bee 5. That is the question of the day.

Not doing anything nursery till we get the gender sorted. :)
