Low Papp a result

Hey ladies. Just got results of NT test and genetic screenings. Everything normal except low Papp a. Of course now I'm super worried. I didn't have anything wrong with my first pregnancy. Just looking for some peace of mind. And of course my next Dr appointment isn't for 3 more weeks!

Re: Low Papp a result

  • Hey mama! I had a low Papp-A with DD and for me it just meant that they kept and extra close eye on me and baby. They told me that it can be an indication of placental insufficiency. So my Dr. advised me to take a baby aspirin daily to promote good blood flow to the baby, I had monthly growth scans, and starting at 30 weeks, I had weekly non-stress tests and ultrasounds. My daughter was a bit smaller (6lb 6oz) but completely normal and healthy pregnancy. I actually found it to be quite a relief to get to see her monthly on ultrasounds and watch her grow.

  • I'm sorry you are worried. I have no experience. A lady from my mother's group gave birth to her second and had low Papp-a. Her baby came out completely normal and weighed 6.8lb. I hope with early attentive care, your baby will get the right help and will have a healthy gestation. Hang in there mama and keep us posted.

  • I had low Papp-A with DS. We had an extra US at 28 weeks to check his growth and he was right on track. I did have weekly NST's and US's starting at 35 wks although that was for other reasons not related to the Papp-a. My son weighed 6lbs 2 oz but was also born at 37 weeks. Hang in there!
  • I also just had my NT scan with the same result. Hearing other people's stories of having healthy babies even with low PAPP-A has been helping. Hugs to you! You're not alone.
  • @rasmussanna @soprano19 I just got a call that my Papp-a is low again this pregnancy. I'll be joining you guys with the extra US(s).

Dont mean to revive an "old" thread, but +1 on the low papp a train. Obgyn said we shouldnt worry, they just keep a close eye on our pregnancies (more scans during 3rd tri) and it *could* mean the baby would be a little smaller than "normal", due to slower development during 3rd tri.
    Hugs to u all!
