How far along are you?  17+6

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? Every week when my week changes over I am just in shock of "I can't believe I've made it this far!" All the changes are so exciting! My symptoms have kind of traded out for new ones, but these are at least more manageable than the constant nausea, so I'm grateful for that. I do wish I would get some of that magical 2nd trimester energy, though! My next Dr's appointment is the 21st for my anatomy scan... I find myself getting a little anxious, but she looked perfect at 16 weeks, so I'm trying to see it as just another time I get to see my baby :)

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
I have Summer fever! (Is that a thing? lol) We have 35 school days left until summer, and every year when it gets that close I just feel ready for it to be DONE. I hope that doesn't make me sound like a bad teacher, because I really do enjoy my job...

    Any Questions?
Has anyone decided on the crib they're getting? I've been looking at the cribs that will convert to a toddler/day bed, but I truly know NOTHING about cribs.

Eta: GTKY  My current home decor style is "girl friend needs to decorate her house!" Haha. We've lived here pretty much exactly a year and I still have a lot of bare walls. I've been scouring Pinterest for ideas, but we unfortunately don't have a lot of home decor stores around here.

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? Apparently baby can now hear, and she is growing hair! I had a freak out a few days ago because I couldn't find her HB. I found it every single time since 9 weeks. Turns out that silly girl was buried way under my pubic bone. Which is so weird since the placenta I hear is up near my belly button.

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
I am struggling with buying a car.. I go from feeling comfortable to being totally afraid. I think we're better off just struggling with my small car and crying about it for awhile with baby. I also am feeling odd about my mom.. she's just exhibiting not kind behaviors and bipolar emotions. I don't want to be around her. She's my primary daycare for LO 3 days a week, and I don't want her watching baby anymore. Huge feelings.

    Any Questions?
I don't think so!  I've asked a lot on other threads. Love the new question format!

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? I'm feeling a lot more movement, which is exciting! And I'm starting to show a little more. I feel like I barely have a bump in the morning, but by the end of the day it feels huge. Still able to wear my normal clothes, but I'm actually looking forward to busting my maternity clothes back out! I'm especially excited for my maternity dresses and sandals once the weather is consistently warm.

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
We're trying to figure out how to handle my daughter and our new baby girl sharing a room. The room is plenty big enough, but my daughter is an amazing sleeper, and I worry about the new baby messing her up. Although we won't move the baby into her room until probably at least 6 months in, if not more. I want to get my daughter transitioned to a big-girl bed before the new baby comes, though. Advice on that? She's a great sleeper and has never tried to get out of her crib, so I really feel like she will adjust fine. I almost think I don't want to make a big deal out of it...like not even try to get her psyched up about a new bed, but rather go through our normal bedtime routine, but she just gets placed in the big girl bed instead of a crib. It all makes me nervous though, partly because we're so spoiled with good sleep. But I suppose we should get used to nighttime wake ups again! :)

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?  still not feeling movement, but when i met with my OB last week she said that was fine and I probably wouldn't for awhile... my A/S is next week, so excited to see my LO again, I haven't seen him since the 12 week NT scan...

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
i'm a terrible wife right now, i completely forgot my husband's birthday is next week.... now i'm scrambling trying to figure out what to get him

    Any Questions?
let me preface this by saying I am plus size and diabetic, so I made a lot of dietary changes when i got pregnant to give my baby the best shot at being healthy.... up until recently i have been losing weight all pregnancy (23 lbs total)... then i seemed to stop losing but i wasn't gaining... now i've gone up a pound and a half since yesterday, water weight maybe?? it shouldn't be the baby yet right?? and I haven't gone on any eating binges or anything

@hollygolightly09 the crib has been a surprisingly hard decision.... we thought the travel system would be the hardest choice but we researched and chose one pretty quickly and easily, i don't know why we can't seem to settle on a crib

what I do know is, we are going to buy the conversion kit when we buy the crib (whatever crib it ends up being) and store it away, because i'm so afraid by the time we need it they are going to discontinue it

  • @harleyquinn0621  I was the same way, it was the car seat I expected to be hard, but that was pretty easy. And yes, I told DH yesterday we need to go ahead and get the conversion kit. I've heard of several people who didn't and now can't find one.

  • Conversion kits....
I'm on team "no conversion kit". They turn into full size beds. My kids will get twin size beds, possible bunk beds. I didn't get a full size bed until my 3rd year of college! I'm not spoiling LO with a full size bed at 1 year old. :p I'd just rather buy a separate fun kids bed later. And keep reusing the crib for hopefully more kids.

  • How far along are you?

    14+5 with twins

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?

Not a whole lot. Just feeling all the growing and stretching which can be pretty painful at times. Don't remember feeling this until later with DD

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?

We have a lot of construction going on in our kitchen/playroom/dining room right now and I am over it. We have no floor in the kitchen and the playroom is completely unusable. So DD's toys are all in our living room and every night when she goes to bed it's the biggest mess. I'm just over it. Really, really over it.

    Any Questions?

    None this week.

  • @HollyGolightly09 so with DD we lived in a one bedroom apartment until she was almost 3. We didn't get her a crib until she was about 7 months old. Up until that point we had her in a co-sleeper.

Now that we are expecting twins we will just use the same crib we used for DD and get another one just like it. But that won't be until the twins are at least 6 months old as I plan to co-sleep with them as well.

As for our crib, this is what we have and liked it. The side comes off and it becomes a toddler bed.

How far along are you? 17+3

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? Had an appointment this morning- baby's heartbeat was strong and perfect! Also, the doctor changed my due date from 9/19 back to my original 9/10, which is what I still counted it as because an earlier date made no sense. I knew I didn't ovulate that late! I feel vindicated. Other than that, all this pelvic pain is, well...painful. I'm so looking forward to my prenatal massage on Friday! But a lot of times I sit down in pain, and then I feel the baby fluttering around in there, and it makes it all worth while. :)

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Things are good. Plans for our upcoming move are still a little less settled that I would like, but I'm trying not to stress about things that are out of my hands.

    Any Questions?
I love the new question format, but can we still add a GTKY? I always love reading everyones answers. :)

@HollyGolightly09 We've decided to go with a wrought iron crib, probably this one. We will be getting the conversion kit for the toddler bed/day bed (purchased all together, just to be on the safe side), since we'll be in a smaller space.

@harleyquinn0621 I'm sorry, I truly don't know the answer to your question. My gut would say that it could possibly be baby/amniotic fluid/etc. since you are almost half way, but I don't know that for sure.

    ETA for the GTKY question.

ETA: GTKY (by request  )   How would you describe your home decorating style? Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?  My home is pretty eclectic and urban. We live in an open loft with concrete floors and some concrete walls and pillars, and our furniture and decor fits well with that. We prefer a more subdued pallet with pops of color, and there are lots and lots of books everywhere. I don't really think about the style too much, though- I just pick what I like, and make it all work together somehow.

  • @HollyGoLightly09 It's kind of new. All of a sudden marriage problems are becoming evident to me between my parents, and she's acting crazy refusing to say sorry for hurting others feelings and being high and mighty.. and when you confront her she gets this... crazed look in her eye, which I've never ever seen before. It's scary. I legitimately think there is something psych going on though. My poor dad.. he has some anger control problems due to a traumatic brain injury a few years ago, but my mom also has anger control problems and I think instigates him. And now that I'm seeing this all happen, pregnant.. it's a lot of stress and I want to run away. What happened to my fairy tale childhood?

@Sugargirl1019 I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that. I too have experienced marriage problems between my parents largely caused by my mom's then-untreated psychological issues, and it is so hard to watch. FX things improve, and that in the mean time you find a good way to deal with your mom watching your LO. ((hugs))

  • How far along are you? 15w 4d :)

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? I posted in the movement thread but I think I felt baby briefly last night. That was cool. I also got recognized as pregnant by a stranger the other day for the first time (that I know of). She touched my stomach, which I didn't hate as much as I thought. Symptom-wise, I don't feel pregnant all the time anymore...which is weird. I don't think anything is wrong though!

I'm planning to tell my students REALLY soon about the baby. I'm excited for that! It's high school but I teach mostly freshman and they aren't the most observant.

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Passover is coming up and we have to do a major spring cleaning for that and to prep for a short visit from my mom. And I get to hear Toni Morrison speak tomorrow!!!

oh goodness. I suck at decorating. Wood, leather, espresso colored wood.. nice? I wish I could say I had throw pillow and throw blankets perfectly placed to wow you, but I dont. I don't even have much on the walls. I really suck at decorating. Idk where to shop! It's all so expensive.

He is great too!! I think he still lives near me for at least part of the year. He popped into one of my local book stores this morning. I actually walked right past him once, near that same bookstore.

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?
Skylar is growing like a champ! I ate a piece of chocolate during my ultrasound this morning and she smiled!

For the most part I feel pretty good. Nausea is minimal only if I eat a big meal. I do get leg/hip/butt muscle cramps at night. I think they're mostly from me trying to force myself to stay on my side while I sleep. Still super tired and get these silly very short bursts of energy lol!
What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Not much really. I work part time, 2 10 hour shifts but I'm working am extra day a week to make sure I qualify for the 12 weeks of FMLA when the baby comes! That keeps me pretty busy during the week :-P
    Any Questions?
    Not really today
ETA: GTKY (by request  )   How would you describe your home decorating style? Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?
I don't really have a specific decorating style. I've tried to do s theme in each room  (palm trees, owls, beach, etc) in different rooms but I've sort of given up. I'd rather spend the money on baby stuff haha!

@HollyGolightly09 I've read so many reviews on cribs and it's exhausting lol! We've decided on a DaVinci crib that converts to a toddler bed, day bed and full size bed.

  • How far along are you?
    17+1

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?
BMI puts me at obese. After being -4 pounds (from my starting weight at 4 weeks) for WEEKS, I weighed myself yesterday morning (once a week, when my new week starts), and I was "only" at -1pound. Plus yesterday I realized I can now see my belly out in front of me under my boobs. So I'm just feeling huge. I realized last night that I was fully dressed when I weighed myself (I do it first thing in the morning, so I'm just in undies and a tank top). Reweighed myself this morning and was at -3 pounds. So I stupidly feel better about that. And then I feel guilty because I'm growing a human being, and my weight is going to change, so I'm feeling kind of shallow and vain.

But, I have an OB appt on 4/12, and our A/S on4/14. I'm really looking forward to it.

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Just working all the hours, trying to be productive. Was informed we are going to Maine for Easter. So I took the Monday after off so I can still get enough rest. My bf and I are going to go to the maternity store at the outlets that day.

    Any Questions?
Anybody have an achy feeling uterus after sex? It's not what I would call outright pain, but definitely discomfort, for hours.

ETA: GTKY (by request  )   How would you describe your home decorating style? Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?
I really like solid wood furniture, in a variety of finishes. I hate matchy matchy furniture (although we're getting a GORGEOUS crib, dresser, and changing table set from SIL). Other than that I like things pretty neutral, with blues or greens mixed in.
  • @jena333 I think we all feel similarly about gaining weight and seeing our bodies change :) I'm shallow and vain too then! Hugs. Did you O in sex? Orgasm always gives me cramps for awhile after!

No O, just a quicky as H was leaving for work. We're still working on finding the most comfortable positions, so maybe that's it? Spoiler box is the furniture we're 'inheriting' from SIL/nephew.

Looks like there's some wear on the front of the changing table, but it's still my favorite pricetag (free).

ETA: not that you can't O from a quickie, I just don't, personally.
  • @jena333  I started out overweight too, can also see my belly out from under my boobs, and haven't really gained anything. Some days I struggle with feeling huge, mostly because I've always associated seeing my belly with weighing too much and not pregnancy. Usually putting on a cute maternity top helps, so I guess I'm vein too! I do think though, that 1: BMI measurement while pregnant is ridiculous. You're growing a person, living healthfully and doing the best you can is more important than what any arbitrary weight measurement can say about your body right now. And 2: Belly size and proportions have more to do with luck of the draw than anything. One of my skinniest, tallest friends had a BIG belly by 20 weeks because she had tons of amniotic fluid. There are a hundred positive, normal reasons for your belly to pop out besides a few pounds.

I hope you feel better soon, and can enjoy looking pregnant. You looked fantastic in HDBD, btw!

A full sized bed at 1 year old??? my 19 month old is still in his crib! I think most of the convertible cribs with conversions kits do crib, to toddler bed with rail, to toddler day bed, then to full size, I have no intentions of getting him out of his crib until I absolutlet have to (e.g. Him crawling out of it) because I cannot imagine the havoc he would wreak on his bedroom!!

It's a bit unpredictable. One day we are getting praised for excellent work and the next day the bosses are flying off the handle for ridiculous and contradictory claims. I have an appointment next week to talk about stress leave options at least for a few weeks because may is going to be crazy. Any Questions? Nope! @HollyGolightly09 we'll do one of the IKEA cribs too but I personally prefer non-solid sides so I have one or two on the radar that we'll decide between. I find I'm picky about strollers and baby carriers but not cribs...

  • It's 1:33am here...I got out of bed to eat pb&j on saltines .....this is literally the most, "yep I'm pregnant" moment I've had- also the pb&j was delicious
I have a gnarly sore throat and laryngitis, so I was sleeping fitfully because of that... but around 1:15 my time, I toasted a waffle and put jelly on it. It was delicious. High five for late night snacking, sister!!
  • I had a dream last night that I went for my anatomy scan and they couldn't find the baby. I know that's ridiculous... I mean, where would she go? But, I couldn't really sleep after that and it's stuck in my head.

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?
I'm not getting great sleep bc staying comfortable is near impossible aaand I'm just tired. I am also having some body image fails. I know my body is growing a baby and I'm still less than my pre pregnancy weight i just feel huge and awkward as not many clothes fit and the bump isnt always bump looking but sometimes just looks like I gained 20lbs. Idk, i feel stupid but i just feel out of sorts lately. Oh and One of my best friends here is hosting a babyshower for me!! Yay!

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Work is just a pain lately. I got so worked up yesterday and I had no vices  (wine, vodka) to pour over it all soo i ate some Ben & Jerry's lol.

    Any Questions?
    none today

ETA: GTKY (by request  )   How would you describe your home decorating style? Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?
mmm more country/traditional. I craft a lot (pallets) and I love getting deals on online yard sales! Otherwise HomeGoods always has great steals!!

  • @HollyGolightly09 i'm sorry for the bad dream... my dreams have been so strange since i got pregnant. just remind yourself she is doing great in there!

Ladies, I have a question... how early should i be touring and/or interviewing daycares? once the baby is born I will have about 3.5-4 months off work and then i will need to put him in daycare... i'm already looking at them online to get an idea of which ones i want to see and talk to in person but i don't know when to start all that

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise?
Yesterday I made the mistake of reading an article in the Huff Post about someone who lost a baby at 19 weeks.  Missed miscarriage.  :(  I freaked out, went kind of numb.  And then I thought, I haven't really felt anything yet, and I don't look very pregnant.  The last time I saw my baby on U/S was the 12w Nuchal and since then just heard the hb twice with a fetal doppeler, last time two weeks ago.  Could something be wrong with my LO?  And then I want to look at statistics of m/c at 18 weeks... None of those thoughts/actions are good.  Please help!!  ;-O  The anatomy scan in ten days couldn't come sooner, though I know I'll be nervous that morning. I wish I could enjoy the pregnancy more right now, but I'm feeling nervous.  I have nothing concrete to be nervous about, yet...

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Still reveling in the trip to France last month and waiting for spring in NYC.

    Any Questions?
I considered calling my doctor about said anxiety, but I've refrained thus far.  Every time I was nervous about the hb before each appt, also feeling like "there's a baby in me?" lo and behold, there was a hb.  I don't want to give too much voice to my anxieties, if that makes sense.  And I've had very good days too.  But if anyone has thoughts/advice, please lmk.  Thank you!

  • @margareth  I'm feeling the same way... I have no reason to be anxious, but the past couple of days I have been. I keep telling myself I have no reason to think everything isn't okay, but that doubt is still there. I have no advice, but just know you aren't alone. (Hugs)

  • @harleyquinn0621I have started keeping snacks next to the bed, and often eat one in the middle of the night. It's the epitome of lazy, because I don;t even have to get up to eat. :grimace: (Though I often get up anyway because I'm usually hungry AND I have to pee.)

@HollyGolightly09 I keep having dreams that I find out late in pregnancy that it's a hysterical pregnancy, and there never was a baby. It's ridiculous because I've seen him multiple times, heard his heartbeat, I feel him moving around several times a week, etc. But I know it's all from anxiety, because it doesn't seem like it can really be true that I'm actually having a healthy pregnancy, and could actually have a healthy baby.

  • @margareth I'm seeing a midwife and part of why I chose that is I knew if I had anxiety like you are describing, I could call and they'd definitely allow me to come in for a hb check. I just want to encourage you to call your dr and see if you could stop in briefly to relieve some of your nervousness, since you said you'd been thinking about doing that anyway.

I see a therapist who specializes in reproduction, infertility, loss, etc. She advised me against a home doppler (due to the potential to become obsessive or feel worse anxiety if I couldn't find hb myself), but told me not to hesitate to call the midwife if I needed.

Whatever you decide, I hope you feel better really soon!!! You too, @HollyGolightly09. :)
  • thanks, @HollyGolightly09 and @divinemsm620 !  I'll see how I'm feeling tomorrow and if I'm still in "bad shape" I'll call the doctor's office.
  • How far along are you? 17+3.

What's going on with you baby/pregnancy wise? nothing much changing-- these are long stretches between appointments (not that much eventful happens at the appointment). Still can't feel anything, but I guess that's not too surprising with an anterior placenta. Every day it seems like one fewer non-maternity item of clothing fits me.

What's going on with you in other aspects of your life?
Work has been crazy so I haven't been keeping up here like I want to! Um... I'm excited for the weekend and THRILLED that the weather is supposed to be in the high 60s here (NYC) next week. aah.

    Any Questions?
    none today.

ETA: GTKY (by request  )   How would you describe your home decorating style? Where are your favorite places to shop for home decor?
Hm. Urban basic? I like a lot of the midcentury modern stuff that everyone else likes right now.

@margareth I can get into the same sorts of panic spirals. I have stopped reading articles like the one you mention because I get myself too worked up. I agree that you should ask for a quick checkup if you are really anxious, and wish I had better advice!
  • @margareth i hope you're feeling better. I do the same thing to myself and it really is terrible. i've gotten a lot better but every now and then I find myself googling late MMC and get myself all freaked out. i've had to be super stern with myself about that tho...<3
