If this has already been a thread, please forgive me. I tried to search but I could not find anything on our board!
Who is taking it? What info did your doctor give you about it? Side effects?
I was shocked that they do not give zofran anymore, mainly because I took so much with my last pregnancy! But, I am glad there is an alternative because things are really picking up in the nausea department for me! They gave me samples and a script. He went over how to take it (two at night and one morning and afternoon if needed). He mentioned it might make you sleepy.
For those of you taking it, how many are you really having to use to get relief. Is the relief constant or do you still have breakthrough nausea? Does it make you drowsy? I am very worried about this part because most things do make me sleepy (even tylenol!) I will start the dose tonight and see how it goes!
Re: Diclegis
I'm pretty sure you can still get Zofran if that's what you want instead. @pawcall am I remembering correctly that you're on Zofran?
My insurance doesn't cover Diclegis, but it does cover Zofran so I'm going with that. I have heard other people say that it really helped them feel better though
@Christy.H that makes me sad! I know it is hard but try not to let others make you feel bad unless its your DR telling you not to do something.
My dr was adamant this is now the only A-rated drug for nausea during pg. I did not ask him about zofran becuase it did not occur to me and I did not fully grasp what was in the diclegis until I had gone. I took one mid afternoon and the nausea was GONE within 15 min. But, I was a dead head the rest of the day. Its now 740 and about 1 hr after our supper time. Its back and I am about to take the 2 but not until I read to my 4 year old because I know I won't make it through the book if I take it first!
We shall see how tomorrow goes!
I still get breakthrough nausea about once a day but it is way better. About once a day I'm hungry and the food tastes good! Trying to keep something in stomach keeps things at bay as well.
i took unisom/b6 during my first 3 pregnancies, and I just wanted to encourage you ladies that the drowsiness side effect did decrease for me after a while - a couple weeks, maybe?
I have been fortunate not to have MS yet this pregnancy, otherwise I'd be on one or the other!
I was on zofran well into 3rd tri last time around, hoping this eases up sooner this time.

Once I took diclegis at night.. I missed the tiny burst of drowsiness and had god awful insomnia that night. The next day I switched to unisom and slept *wonderfully* it was such a relief. I am careful not to take it until I'm ready for bed, because although it makes me even more drowsy, I'm still afraid if I manage to miss it I'll end up with insomnia again.
Once I took half a unisom and b6 (like the one pill equivalent of diclegis) and I struggled. Taking a diclegis at lunch gives me this brief, semi-intense drowsy period and then leaves me just a little foggy the rest of the day.
Until I discovered I was able to control it well enough with just the night time dose, my plan had been unisom/b6 at bed and one diclegis at lunch.
Eta my midwife wrote me a prescription for zofran for active vomiting, not nausea. She didn't comment on the safety, but specifically clarified when to use it.
As far as the drowsiness, I was constantly drowsy before I started it. I don't think it's changed a ton but probably increased a little. I occasionally have middle of the night work emergencies and have not found it more difficult to get up and attend to those while on the diclegis.
Good luck! I'm hoping this will start going away soon - 10 weeks tomorrow.
@cottingham3 - maybe try taking one at night and see if that helps and still keeps the nausea away.
I actually feel less tired since starting them - I sleep like a log - which is awesome and I found it completely exhausting to try not to throw up at work all day - I actually feel more like myself - except a nap in the afternoon would be amazing!

@2Dash that makes me hopeful that you haven't been tired. I haven't needed to take mine yet but I'm afraid I'll be so tired when I do take it.
@Karrotelle I hope your feeling better soon!
@Kdremington I've heard about the sea bands but wasn't sure how much they would actually help. I'm glad that they've been helping you!

For those taking the unisom/b6 combo- what is the b6 dosage you recommend? I am off to Target to get that and sea bands.
