  • @kelseyrayay My sister is going through the exact same thing right now. She has PCOS and had a hard time getting pregnant with her first. Now they've been trying for their second for 2 years, also with fertility treatments. Really hope both of our sisters get their little ones soon.

    17 weeks

How big is your baby (babies)?
    A pomegranate/naval orange/chipmunk/large fries!

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
Nope, not until my anatomy scan on 4/27.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
My skin has cleared up! I was getting really terrible jawline acne (the big, hard, painful ones) and it seems to have completely gone away now. PHEW.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
This lower back pain though! I've been trying to stretch to ease it and I need to get to yoga as soon as there's time for it.

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
Undecided! DH and I were always unsure about children and we've agreed to see how things go with this one before we make decisions about future babies.

  • How far along are you?
    17 weeks today

How big is your baby (babies)?
    A video game controller

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
In about 2 hours for our monthly check. We got to see him briefly last time because the Doppler didn't pick up the heartbeat and I kind of hope that happens again... But we do have an A/S on 04/25 so I don't have to wait too long...And I really do want to hear the heart beat

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
Not really. I can feel him moving, but not a ton yet. My bump/belly is starting to throw off my center of gravity.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Any suggestions on belly bands, especially ones that work well or you think would work well with plus size?
And, any options on bringing an older child to the A/S? My step son will be 13 and I think it would mean a lot to him to see his new brother. There are no elective ultrasounds locations within 100 miles of us or I would go that option. I know the doctor office allows it and the room is definitely big enough to have an extra human (or five). But it's also a medical appointment so I worry. All our tests have come back great so far.

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
I always wanted two or three. This is my first biological kiddo, but we will have two, and my stepson lives with us. But, I still want one more. DH says he's done. I want our new son to have a sibling close in age. We'll see. I'll be happy no matter what. But ideally, one more.

@Swazzle Can you pass on that skin clearing luck? I was just touching like 3 large bumps on my jawline and whining in my head about them! I know I should keep my hands off.

@wineren I would definitely ask your stepson what he would like to do. As a younger child, I was even uncomfortable seeing pregnant ladies exposed bellies. I can't imagine what your stepson would feel seeing "step mom's belly (ew)"! Haha. But he may be totally sweet and want to see the baby. I wonder if there's a place for him to wait, and then can bring him in when everything is set up? Is there a chair outside the room he can park in and play games until it's time?

How far along are you? 18 weeks!!

How big is your baby (babies)? A sugar glider or a sweet potato

Any upcoming appointments this week? Nope darn!

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Acne, tired, cramps, RLP, heartburn, tired. Yesterday I just HAD to have Rosas taco tuesday and it was the worst thing ever for my blood sugar. I'm upset I did that.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I'm 18 weeks, where's my baby movement?? Also, I went up to work yesterday in my normal clothes (I wear scrubs) and everyone was like Omgsh you DO have a belly!!  :# Yes.. yes I do... thanks...

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
I would like 3 or 4! There were 4 of us growing up and I can't imagine my kids growing up without siblings. DH was an only child and he does not want just 1. I think DH would be good with 3.

How big is your baby (babies)? avocado

Any upcoming appointments this week? Was suppose to be doing our birthing class this weekend but it got cancelled because no one else signed up.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Extreme headache in the middle of the night (tension headache or maybe migraine). Tylenol does very little.  I wake up in the middle of the night (usually around 2am) with extreme pain-neck and head. I had a headache start Sunday night that had me puking in early AM of Monday...felt a little better though the day (though still there) and then flared back up again at night. Got about 3 hours of sleep and woke up at 2am roughly and took meds and smeared peppermint oil and lavender oil all over which seemed to help some but really didn't sleep until around 7am-8am. Headache still lingering but faintly. I went to the chiropractor yesterday but it didn't seem to alleviate the neck pain/headache. Anyone else have any sleeping solutions or ways to help with these headaches?

Still heartburn, tiredness, and gagging in the morning due to too much mucus production.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Anyone have any sleeping solutions or ways to help with these headaches?
The weather here is springy...not that it is sure to last (april and may snow is totally likely) but it is so nice to have warmer weather and hear birds singing.

What did you decide to buy for the baby/nursery/yourself etc rather than putting it on the registry?

  • @kelseyrayay @LosAngelesMama My SIL is also struggling. She had endometriosis surgery, an ectopic pregnancy resulting in her tube being blocked, then discovered a malformation in her uterus requiring surgery. They went through an unsuccessful round of IVF last year with no eggs leftover, and are about to have their egg retrieval for their second round in a week or two. She is 37 so obviously this has been all very stressful for her as they really want a baby. I hope so hard for IVF to work for her this time. I know all of the focus in DH's family will shift away from us onto them if she gets pregnant right now, but that would be fine with me! She deserves it so much after all she's been through!! I hope your sisters will finally have some success too!

@wineren I think at 13 I would be comfortable with a sibling being in the room. I wouldn't bring younger children, but if he really wants to go (which is super sweet by the way), I'd say 13 is old enough.

How far along are you? 16w

How big is your baby (babies)? Avocado.. mmm...

Any upcoming appointments this week? I will have one Monday, but it is only scheduled for 15 minutes so it should be a just a quick check-in.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? I am finally able to eat a little more as my aversions are fading, and going days at a time without barfing is spectacular. Also finally getting some bump going on. Pulled out a pair of maternity jeans last week, and have my regular jeans buttoned with a hair tie and covered with a belly band today. We still haven't told many people so I'm just wearing light jackets around to hide it at work.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  Really would like to wait until after the anatomy scan to go public (especially at work), but I think my stomach might betray me. I already ranted about this in the AMA thread, but DH is working at home bc of his surgery, and I am going to go batshit crazy on the days I stay home with DD trying to keep her quiet and away from him while also getting housework done. Please go back to the office DH!!!

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
Not sure what "ideal" means in this context, but 2 has always been our plan. I guess if I had unlimited money and time (I'm 35), maaaaybe 3?

@Sugargirl1019 we had the 8 week u/s, NT scan at 13 weeks, 16.5 week is a $50 boutique u/s and then we'll have the 20 week anatomy scan.
ETA: At the boutique u/s we should get photos AND a DVD of the whole thing.  So excited.

    Update from appt today:
Was nervous leading up to this appt for some reason.  I was weighed when I arrived and i haven't gained anything since BFP, which made me super nervous.  Then after a forever wait, Dr. arrived to do sonogram, but she had trouble finding baby. Poor DH was terrified in the background.  After ~1.5 minutes she moved it up and to right and found heartbeat.  It was in the 140s. feeling very relieved!

  • How far along are you? 18 weeks

How big is your baby (babies)? Artichoke

Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until 4/21 AS

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Nope. Still miserable with 24/7 nausea.

Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm sad that nursing DS might come to an end because I'm drying up and not because we choose to be done. And I'm getting really pissed that DH complains about sleeping badly, but continues to sleep elsewhere in the house so he can watch or play something to go to sleep. Makes perfect sense (insert huge eye roll).

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have? We've joked about having 6 so we could do a family MTG draft. But 4 would be my ideal. However, since it looks like 24/7 morning sickness the whole pregnancy is going to be normal, and with DH turning 42 this year, me turning 35, it could be two and done. We are both open to adopting though so there is that.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? No, but MS seems to be back. I was doing okay for 3 weeks and then this week has sucked. I threw up last night while trying to take my b6 and unisom. That was fun.

    Rants/Raves/Questions? none this week

I keep joking that I'm done after this one. Being pregnant is a lot harder than I anticipated. But I'm sure in a couple of years, I will forget all about that and want a second baby. I think 2 would be perfect for us.

  • @Megane15 That is sooo annoying. If the Doctor said A/S was fine at 18 weeks the scheduler should have scheduled at 18 weeks! Maybe call back and see if you can talk to someone else to reschedule for earlier. My doctor wants me to wait until 20 weeks... so I have to be patient but if I had the option to go in 2 weeks earlier I would! Sometimes it pays off to make a second call/be a little pushy!

How big is your baby (babies)?
    The size of an avocado
    Any upcoming appointments this week?
I had an appointment on Tuesday that was uneventful. My next appointment is the mid pregnancy ultrasound/anatomy scan in early May.
Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
General moodiness and back pain. My doctor said that back pain occurs much earlier in second pregnancies, and gave me literature to read about the topic, but she didn't have any helpful advice that I haven't heard before. I think I may just have to ride out the pain for another 5 or so months.
    Rants/Raves/Questions?
Like previous posters have said, I was initially told we would have our anatomy scan between 18-20 weeks. Apparently the radiology office that is affiliated with my doctor prefers to do it between 20-22 weeks. So it's not a huge difference, but I am so looking forward to finding out more about my unknown passenger.
DH is also gone on work travel for the next couple days, and I am so tired in anticipation of wrangling by 2.5 year old by myself. He'll be leaving in July for at least one week as well. Times like these it would be great to have family closer than 6 hours away.
GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
If I chose to be a SAHM, probably three. But, I enjoy teaching and I'm not sure I could commit to staying at home for an extended period of time.

How big is your baby (babies)? Avocado or action figure.

Any upcoming appointments this week? Monday. Yay!

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? RLP. My legs are hurting a lot too.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  Rave: I feel so much better after my NIPT results. It is so nice to know that baby boy tested negative for trisomies.

Rant: I'm pretty sure that my mom is disappointed that Freddie is a boy. Her response when I told her was "Oh, that's a big surprise." It was pretty hurtful. I know she thought he was a girl, but I did too and I'm still super excited for a healthy baby boy. They make so much cute stuff for boys these days.

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have? I always wanted 4. DH says that he likes the idea of 5 (He wants a prime number, so can't be 4). At this point the plan is 2. I'm not getting any younger and it took us a while to make this one. But, I might consider a third if the timing and finances work out.

    Fri-YAY!

    1. 19 weeks. (That feels so far along to say. Goodness)

    2. Baby is the size of a mango according to all three apps I have on my phone. Lol.

    3. I have my big A/S appointment on Monday. I'm a little bummed it's most likely the last time I'll see my baby boy until the fall!

    4. Nothing new. Although, when I have a craving, it hits HARD. But can be gone just as fast. It's weird.

    5. Rave: We just had our local JBF sale and we did so well getting a couple big pieces for way cheap. I've been pumped about that. It motivated me to start really working on the nursery (refinishing some furniture that is being passed down from the big sisters).

    6. GTKY: Dh and I have always wanted four kids. It was super tempting to stop after #2 because the rhythm just got nice and easy for a while. But we knew our family wasn't complete. Initially, we had planned to foster-to-adopt a sibling set for #3&4 but as we were getting paperwork in place we found out about this baby coming. So, we'll approach fostering again in about a year and see what happens... we may end up with more than 4!

edit. Omg gosh. I have been a week off on my pregnancy count! Hello, pregnancy brain!

  • How far along are you?
    18 weeks!!!!

How big is your baby (babies)?
The size of a slingshot or a croissant or a sweet potato or TB says an artichoke lol

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
    Not until the 13th :\

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
Just a lot of heaviness in the ute, I am oddly aware of my uterus now. Heartburn and indigestion. STILL constipated.

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
None that I can think of!

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?

We go back and forth... sometimes three sometimes four. DH likes to joke about crazy numbers like nine or twelve. I told him anything past five, he's gonna carry and push out of HIS vagina. Since we will be having another c section we probably will only have one or two more after this one.

How big is your baby (babies)? Check my ticker.  It's got a very long description of a tall Frappuccino.

Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until the end of the month.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? I'm skipping around the lab, lacking pretty much any symptoms of nausea.  Also, my back, abs AND hip/pelvis all feel great today.  It's a very, very good day.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I'm ready for some nice weather this weekend, at least on Sunday.  Which means I'll probably be at work for a bit tomorrow, booo.

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
Ideally, it's two, and that's the game plan.  On my less enthusiastic parenting days, I wish we didn't have any at all, haha.  Thankfully, those days are few and far between.

How big is your baby (babies)? A large mango or Gameboy

Any upcoming appointments this week? No :'(

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
My back/butt pain has increased because all my coughing getting over this cold thing has irritated it.  It feels more like a pinched  nerve now and at some movements I'm frozen in pain as I learned today while shopping.  Also I finally got the Charlie Horse symptom last night.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  I'm still waiting on feeling/recongizing movements.  Knowing they can happen around this time and I'm not in the know kind of bums me out,  especially since I haven't seen the little one in 7 weeks and won't for another 5 weeks.

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have? I'll say two,  but I think we're going to stick to one for now and see how that goes.

Any upcoming appointments this week? Not until the 21st.

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? Still nauseous a lot of the time. My anxiety has been getting the better of me again. I am really worried about the anatomy scan on the 21st.

    Rants/Raves/Questions? No

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
I thought I always wanted 2, but I am so excited about adding this LO to our family. We currently have twin girls. We also have a frozen embryo that we were planning on transferring before getting our suprise BFP. We will still hopefully be transferring that snowflake at some point depending on how this pregnancy goes.
  • How far along are you?
    18 weeks today!!

How big is your baby (babies)?
An artichoke, but according to my ultrasound last Wednesday she was measuring a little bigger than average so who knows!!

    Any upcoming appointments this week?
    Not until April 20th

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings?
I just have terrible back pain if I'm in a certain position too long. I'm also having trouble sleeping because of some intense leg and hip cramps/pain. Not cool...

    Rants/Raves/Questions?
2 weeks until halfway!!!! Is this real life?!

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
3 or 4. But I would be good with 2 haha it's taken 4 years to get this one so I don't know that 3 or 4 is in the plan for us! Whatever God blesses us with, we'll be grateful

  • How far along are you? 16 weeks (though last week I told someone 5 and a half when I meant 15 and a half! I don't want to lose those TEN weeks, thank you very much!)

How big is your baby (babies)? Avocado

Any upcoming appointments this week? I went to the walk-in last week because I was freaking out (lots of stress at work combined with not having checked LO in any way since 8 weeks). The midwife saw how stressed I was so she gave me an u/s (ALL GOOD!) even though all along she's said the only u/s I get is the a/s. All that to say, I have an appointment on Wednesday to talk to a doc about a few weeks of stress leave in May when I anticipate things will only get crazier. I don't think they'll check the baby then, and with the a/s on the 24th, I think I can wait....3 weeks wait is way better than 10!

Any new symptoms or changes or cravings? pizza...like, american style pepperoni and cheese delivery pizza. Also so much snot, but it's a different sort of feeling than "I'm sick" snot.....it's just THERE. all. the. time.

Rants/Raves/Questions?  We got a little girl outfit (denim dress and white sweater) and a little boy outfit (denim overalls with a onesie underneath) that we're going to take with us to the a/s and ask the tech to put the correct outfit on the top in the box we'll have them in so we can take the box home and skype with our parents and open the box together.  So I just hope a) the baby cooperates, because this is our only chance until birth to find out... b) it doesn't cooperate so well that WE can tell on the screen lol

GTKY: In an ideal world, how many children would you like to have?
hm, tough question. I've never really thought about an ideal world....just the world as it is. We'll try for 2-3 in real life, but in an ideal world, I might want 4-5. (That first typed as 45...uhm, no, please... haha).
