April Randoms Thread

Since we haven't had a new weekly randoms for awhile I thought today would be a good time to start one for the month. Sorry if I'm stepping on anyone's toes.

  • I've always worn underwire bras, but during the 3rd trimester I transitioned to nursing bras to help with engorgement. Since I'm EFF, I tried to wear a pre-pregnancy bra for a few hours. Ow. It hurts. My boobs feel wonderful and I feel great, but the underwire is digging in.

Bonus: pre-pregnancy jeans fit but look like skinny jeans. But since I'm overweight, their semi-elastic and are like pregnancy pants just without the panel.

But I'm home from the birthday party now and it's back to comfy bras and sweatpants. Totally not ready for full-time normal people clothes.
  • My mom and dad came out to our house today. They are actually here now, lol.

I'm not ready for normal clothes yet. My regular jeans cause extra flab... muffin top I guess. And it drives me crazy.

  • @BourbonBiscuits We've had some postpartum sex and it was great...no pain either. DH said it wasn't loose-goosey either. So yay!
  • Also, I have no idea where this -2 thing came from on my username. I'm the same person as purplewriter. I just logged into the app a few days ago to post something and it was added. In fact, I didn't even notice it until someone replied to me. Strange.
  • Lol did you guys see "Netflix live"??
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kswiger06 We saw a message about it when we logged into Netflix last night but just kind of ignored it. What was it? I'm assuming some sort of April Fools

FFSC: I think April Fools is one of the most stupid days that exists. Also with social media and "fake news" the way it is, people believe even the ridiculous fake stories that get posted as a joke  :|
  • @lfrank12 I ignored it when I first saw it too because I thought it sounded like something got messed up. Like who cares about microwaves and toasters?! Then last night I saw it said it was cancelled because they overestimated how many people would binge watch microwaves so I watched it (well part of it) and it was Will Arnett just talking through random boring things "happening" at the Netflix station. Like watching someone pop toast into a toaster. Or someone, sharpening pencils with a crank sharpener. It was pretty dumb, so I googled what the show was supposed to be, and it was an April fools day joke. I forgot about April fools day, because I don't care about it either, so I guess they got me lol

  • What do you guys use if your baby has dry skin on their face? I've tried Johnson's baby lotion and aquaphor baby. Neither seemed to help and the aquaphor baby feels too greasy on his face.

  • @marriedhamstermom  I'm partial to Aveeno. DD had super dry skin and it was the only thing that worked for her.
  • Since Monday BF isn't a big thing right now, I'll just post it here. DS peed on me. He got my husband soon after birth, but I had yet to be peed on. Had to happen sometime, I guess, but I was hoping for later.

You've only been peed on once? That sounds amazing. Ridley loves to pee or poop any time his diaper is open so DH & I have both been hit our fair share of times. We try to cover it but he wiggles & kicks so much he gets us. He also goes when he just got a fresh diaper on and his outfit put back on. His favorite though is to pee & poop during a diaper change in the middle of the night when we lost power and I'm trying to see with the light of a tiny battery operated night light.
I had our second projectile poop today. The first one was a little more than a month ago, and got the changing table, the lamp, the closet door, the wall, the carpet, and a pair of shoes. Today my reflexes were a bit faster and she only got the changing table, diaper genie and lamp, somehow sparing the carpet and the pair of Uggs on the floor. I have been peed on several times, usually at bathtime. She seems to know it's funny. And I have learned that boys do not own the farm on parent-peeing!

  • I was peed on constantly the first few weeks, then it magically stopped. Now we've moved into spit up at the worst times. Just over this past weekend, he has spit up, down the front of my shirt 3 times!! It goes clear down to the bottom of my cleavage and soaks in the bra before I can get him and me cleaned up lol. I'm not sure which is worse between the pee and spit up going to hard to reach places.

  • One of my cats loves the boppy! Hmm the pic must be on DH's phone. I have the same cover os @SawyerRichardson
  • DD is home sick from school puking.  Hoping I can keep DS away from the germs so I don't end up with 2 sick kids while my H is out of town all weekend.
  • That stinks @chef'swife! Sending good vibes your way!
  • Senna is obsessed with staring at the ceiling fan. What a weirdo.

Omg Wyatt too! Evey room he's in he stares at it forever!
  • That sounds like a potentially rough weekend @chef'swife. Hopefully it was just a short bug that will be over soon.

  • My Husband, brother and I all just left to go to an event in Florida on Saturday and my MIL is watching the baby while we are gone. Even though we are coming back on Sunday I still cried when I left LO. H looked at me like I was insane.  :(
  • I don't think it's crazy @SawyerRichardson I actually won't leave mine over night until they are much older. You at least left her. And my DD just turned 8, but she cries if she has to stay somewhere overnight or even all day (She's very attached to me) but since she cries, she gets me crying lol. Oh and BTW happy 2 months to your LO!

  • Not crazy at all @SawyerRichardson. DD never stayed apart from us until she was about 2.5. My mom went out of town with us for our friends wedding when DD was 1 because I couldn't leave her for the week (and all our friends wanted to see her for all the wedding related events). But with DS, I had to leave him in the NICU for a month and only got to stay with him on the weekends so it's such a different experience. Enjoy your event and know it's ok to leave LO but it's ok to be sad about it too!
  • I totally agree with PPs @SawyerRichardson you aren't insane at all. I still cry if someone other than DH takes Rid out of the room I'm in and get really anxious when anyone but DH or I is holding him. So in comparison you're doing amazing! I'm battling some pretty bad separation anxiety but I still think it's normal to have a hard time leaving your 2 mo. old over night!

  • Thanks everyone. Luckily my MIL is awesome and was very reassuring that it's pretty normal. I thought about leaving tonight and driving back myself since we brought two cars. I keep telling myself to relax and have a good time and that she will be fine.

@kswiger06 thank you and to you as well!
  • Thanks @kswiger06 you have a PM back.

  • Ugh!! Does anybody else get instantly ragey when Casey Anthony gets back in the media. I really wish she left the country and disappeared like they claimed she was going to do, instead of randomly stirring up attention for who knows what reason.

  • VENT ALERT: In-laws are in town, and I have cried every day that they have been here (6 down, 2 to go). It is very clear that they are not here to help with the baby, or really much else. They did help H move a big piece of furniture into the basement, but I have cooked all the dinners and handled all the dishes while still doing everything for dd. The very worst thing, that sets me off every day, is that when dd is fussing (more than usual this week, since I've been so keyed up and she picks up on my stress) the ILs just stand there staring at me. It drives me insane. If you're not going to offer to help, just leave the room. They just stand there with weird "tough break" smirks on their faces, staring while the baby screams. I can usually feed her all over the house, but I've been going up to the nursery every time because the staring makes me so uncomfortable. Today I was actually shaking while getting dd into her car seat (she'll pass out in the car but hates being wrangled into the seat). I had to move the handle with my feet, because MIL made no move to bend the fuck down and push a button for me. Just stood there watching me struggle. The few times I have asked her to help with something, it takes twice as long and I may as well just do it myself.

  • @Vastra that sounds rough! Does your husband realize that you're extra stressed with them there right now? It's too bad he didn't ask them to help out with dishes or something to give you a break or anything. Something like Vastra has been a wonderful host, but maybe someone could help her out with (fill in the blank) so she can (fill it in again). I know you said you only had 2 days to go, but maybe your H could say something today? I think sometimes people just don't know how to best help, which turns to staring to see what we end up doing. Even if these last 2 days are as bad as the rest, you're almost done with the visit. I hope today and tomorrow go better. :)

  • I am so sorry about your in laws @Vastra! Hopefully they will come around these last few days!
